Ketamine, LSD and psilocybin containing mushroom are amazing. I was severely traumatized years ago as a teenage, got diagnosed with cptsd. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Much respect to mother nature the great magic shrooms.

I'm so very happy for you, Psilocybin is absolutely amazing, the way it shows you things, the way it teaches you things. I can not believe our world and our people shows less interest about it's helpfulness to humanity. It's love. The mushrooms heals people by showing the truth, it would be so beneficial for so many people, especially politicians and the rich who have lost their way and every other persons out there.

Hey mates! Can you help with the source? I suffer severe anxiety, panic and depression and I usually take prescription medicine, but they don't always help. Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Australia don't know much about these. I'm so glad they helped you. I can't wait to get them too. Really need a reliable source 🙏

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!

I am a disabled veteran. I participated in a VA experiment with IV ketamine administered in a clinical setting in 2019. The purpose was to end my dependency on opioids prescribed for my injuries. That was successful, as well as a tremendous increase in empathy.
It took me years to try and understand the new thinking. I still work with therapy to make sense of and incorporate empathy into my life.
Since leaving service in 2018, I now advocate for veterans and the healing aspects of creative arts.
Anecdotally, I benefited immensely from this treatment. I still have the foundation of violence, but the core beliefs are not so rigid.
I brought back an understanding that we are all parts of a greater whole, like different fingers of the same hand. To hate or hurt one hurts us all. Supporting one also supports all. I am optimistic about these treatments.

Interesting! I would love more details on how you tried to understand the new thinking with empathy. I am highly empathic, and I’ve been learning to tone mine down a bit. So I guess I had thought that when somebody was able to learn empathy, or have it come to them through some thing like ketamine that it would be similar to seeing an old friend. Does that make sense? Kind of like it’s a normal behavior that you were missing. I’ve never considered that someone would have to learn how to work with it, which takes me into another huge realm of questions!
Have you considered writing about this, or making a video? Lol I would love to learn more about this. Thank you so much for sharing. I’m going to start trekking down this rabbit hole to see if there’s anything else out there but I’ll check back to see if you respond to this. Thank you!

    • @angierox6964
      @angierox6964 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Oh my goodness now I’m really going off on this concept of learning to be empathic and use empathy and that it’s a new way of thinking for you and others.
And I’m beginning to wonder if empathy is indeed a normal human behavior. There are levels of severity on both ends, but perhaps the norm needs to be adjusted? It seems to me that from my informal yet extensive research that the norm may lie more to ‘very minimal empathy’ in the majority of people….Sorry told you I was going off on a trek.
I should probably be recording this in my own notes instead of your feed in TH-cam. Lol but this is a huge shift in my thinking about this presumed normal behavior.

@angierox6964 , empathy is human. I'm the outlier.
Conversations like this are helping me to understand how to talk about the experience. Truly, thank you for the conversation.
My childhood was abusive, violent, and lonely. Probably why I was a good fit for the Army. I thought my capacity to take punishment was my superpower.
After the ketamine, while in session with a therapist, the therapist gave me a genuine and kind compliment.
I went into fight/flight and thought I was about to be attacked. Then I cried my face off.
Kindness was processed as a trick, or predicate to violence. I had to learn I was familiar with negative experiences which made them feel comfortable to me, and avoided pleasant experiences for fear of danger.
I started participating with a performance therapy group. The Veteran Civilian Arts Ensemble. The last 3 years of surrender to the process has been rewriting my neuropathways and changing how I relate to the community.
After a trauma filled life, I'm discovering what kindness and compassion feel like.
There's a page on strazcenter dot org that talks a little about my journey. The ketamine isn't mentioned, but more of the journey is.
Search my name on the site if you want. Also search "Arts and Health" I think you'll like the conversations they have regarding healing and the creative arts.
Your encouraging words are well received. I am on a journey to advocate for others.

As an autistic person, what came immediately to my mind was the fact that social interactions were to be more nourishing and satisfying. Most of us become completely depleted from trying to read social cues and being misunderstood as well as understanding others, and that makes gathering almost like a trauma, like something to avoid at all cost. As our society is built on social networks, it is really a disability to be on the spectrum to that regard. I would be absolutely thrilled to try it and see if it's easier to navigate the world with all the social encounters it requires 🙂

I'm really touched by your caring! I would assume you studied for interacting with kids on the spectrum, but I would suggest you follow autistic adults on TH-cam that specifically speaks about autistic challenges and what can help. As I am also a mom of an autistic child, it's really easier for me to just know how to accompany him on his journey, cause I get it from the inside. I did a lot of "scripts" for him, so he can manage social situations easier - as for me, I had to study psychology just to start to have a clue! Because I only got my diagnosis at 41... So I'm giving him the keys right away. It's a lot of "in that situation, you say that", "in that situation, you do that", like he needs to learn "a procedure" for all contexts, as it's not intuitive at all for us, and it can look like we are rude. He's now doing really great, he has a lot of friends (that wasn't always the case) ☺️ Good luck!

I treat autistic children. They are befuddled by social cues, for the most part. Things that we see infants understand without effort. No question in my mind that this is a hardwired brain difference, not a psychological problem or something that can be taught. Like someone who isn't a native speaker people who have strokes and can't walk smoothly, people with autism will always be challenged because they are trying to "think" through a subconscious neurological process.

I used ketamine therapy to treat my depression several years ago. In conjunction with CBT and other therapy modalities for trauma, I was able to achieve relief from depression. Additionally, as an autistic person, I am now very intrigued by how much the ketamine therapy helped with my ability to connect with others. I am significantly more connected to my emotions now, and I do attribute that to the healing work I've done and perhaps ketamine assisted here, too.

Excellent study! The research with the rats is interesting, and thanks for explaining how the rat and human brain has similarities that allow for research. Dr stated that the FDA is about one month away from the time of this recording to making a decision about MDMA. Why didn’t she state the date, today’s date. And why is that the norm? Is it a ‘thing’, is it done purposefully? Kind of like when you watch movies and they never show money numbers. It’s always written on a piece of paper or some such thing. The up loaded date doesn’t help much because the video could have been recorded three years ago. So yeah , is this done purposefully or is it something that people just don’t think about?

I think there should be a distinction between being empathetic and being pro-social. I am a hyper-empathetic AuDHD person , both affectively and cognitively, and that hasn't changed despite having severe treatment-resistant depression. When I started my ketamine treatments, it made me more engaged and more interested in interacting with other people, but that never affected how my empathy worked. I didn't become more social because I was thinking about how other people felt, because how other people felt wasn't a factor in my depression making me anti-social. What it did do was address my anhedonia, low motivation, and feelings of connectedness, which I think has a side affect of helping me feel more pro-social. Could it help people who lack empathy? Sure, I think being more pro-social does do that, but I think the mechanism for how it gets there is different than what was described in this video.
I honestly don't think it would help an autistic individual who lacks cognitive empathy. Many autistic people are pro-social and want desperately to connect already, so having an enhanced interest and feeling of connectedness wouldn't really help the fact that they lack cognitive empathy. Ketamine gives the motivation to connect, not the neural wiring it takes to cognitively understand other humans. At least in my experience of ketamine. Obviously I am only one person, but that is my take on it given what I have experienced.

I’m dealing with my granddaughter who has body dysmorphic disorder accompanied by clinical depression and anxiety. My daughter and I have been researching ketamine and we both feel very encouraged by what we’re finding. We both have a lot of hope that ketamine will help the beautiful young lady we desperately want to find something to help her. Right now we are both struggling to find something that will help her with these devastating conditions.

Amazing, thank you!! When you were talking about the rats it occurred to me that some of us might have an unbalanced amount of empathy & will ignore their own hunger, needs, etc to protect the others to a harmful degree to self? Would that be a chemical imbalance that could also be corrected by Ketamine? I wonder if there was a perfect recipe for mental health at some point & some chemical got suppressed along the way? Either way,I want to try it for social anxiety!! 😊

Could be awesome treatment, but just the potential can also have it being abused and make people suffer through their emotional connection with others - I've been sorta "hyper-empathic" for as long as I can remember and only after burning out through suffering the pain of my last long-term partner and still best friend, I sorta burned out through it completely and then got some long-overdue Therapy and Diagnoses...and the "good" thing about his was, that all the Trauma and (C)PTSD sorta helped me stop the constant and out of my power connectedness with everyone I ever encountered and allowed me for the first time to only "read people" cognitively...there's a little higher rate of error in that one because the hunches are gone that I could sense through my emotional Empathy reading of others (but which I usually dismissed/ignored anyway to my own detriment, but at least I remember them being there pretty much all the time and my unconscious mind getting a bit more accurate readings in general out of it had I only not ignored these low-key doubts about people).
So, yeah, increasing other people's Empathy and helping them understand (best to prepare them cognitively first, because that can open a whole new World of perceived information to them then and if they get overwhelmed, they are also more likely to get bs-ed by conspiracy theories/lies or "esoteric fiction" narratives - like I was as a young adult) what it is they feel when it sets in, would be really important though...otherwise it can also lead people astray or become co-dependent quicker than most of us want to imagine....

I remember a 2017 paper by Robin Carhart-Harris that identifies 'connectedness' as a core feature of the way in which psychedelic therapy likely improves mental health. Ketamine is not a classic psychedelic and neither is MDMA so I wonder what is happening at the neurocircuitry level that they all induce these positive changes.

I’ve been on antidepressants for 40 years and haven’t had much luck. I believe ketamine has helped reduce the sharpness of my pain as well as slowing down my racing mind. I'd say I'm a little less empathetic and emotional because I'm taking Escitalopram. I received a series of Spravato (Esketamine) sessions to boost my antidepressant response. I know everyone is different, but it didn't help at all. I just felt relaxed while I got it, but no effects on my low energy and "wanting-to-isolate-" symptoms. The only thing that helped with my fatigue and low energy was 1 mg of Aripiprazole. With 2 mg I already had too much akathisia. Before that not even ECT or rTMS have done anything.
Unfortunately, in Germany it's not as common to use aripiprazole because it's not officially approved for depression, so it's an off-label prescription.

This is an exciting development! But, animal testing is not cool. It's one thing to test life-saving treatments on animals, because the benefit outweighs the harm. But in a case like this, it just seems gratuitously malicious to shock rats and scare their cagemates.

    • @lockedawayinthestudy
      @lockedawayinthestudy 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I understand you are referring specifically to the uncomfortable electrical shocks given to these rats. Unless they are complete psychopaths (which in this case would be ironic given they are testing for empathy), researchers develop methodologies to test psychological hypotheses with the animals' welfare in mind. The shocks are not gratuitous.
However, your comment can be construed more broadly.
New medicines or vaccines cannot be developed without animal models. I don't know the ins and outs of how the FDA regulates pharmaceutical testing, but animal models are necessary before moving to limited human trials. Animal testing for cosmetics has thankfully gone by the wayside except for a few corporations.
