Love all the difference in the colors of the zinger Quilt. Really like the yellow.
I remember when Red Zingsr was published in a magazine so I went hunting and sure enough I had cut it out for a someday quilt. Unfortunately I have never saved selvages. Time to rectify that and begin saving.

The red zinger will be so interesting to watch the progress. Over the years I have discovered if I am sewing late, easy is the only way to go and as soon as I make a mistake I quit!!
Pat a pic of the final red zinger quilt with a cup and tea and the red zinger tea box would be a nice vignette for a photo pic.
While I am not enamored with the "Red Zinger" quilt; it makes me think of a "danger radiation" signs we have in hospitals. I was a nurse for 40 years. I would love, love, love to see a demo of the technique used to sew the selvages to a foundation piece. I am sure the this technique can be applied to other block styles.
I’m sew excited to start my zinger quilt!! 🧵 I’ll be working with a large wicker laundry basket 🧺 that belonged to my Grandmother Petersen, full. The selvages don’t have extra fabric but are just the real scraps from preparing fabric. I didn’t think of picking up the tea, ?!, so thanks for the idea Pat, I will do that asap.

Red zinger is nice but I'm not ready to tackle a large one, but maybe a pillow or small 4 blk wall hanging. Best of luck, can't wait to see yours! I’m thinking a pillow too. I have so many projects on my to do list for Christmas, like 2 full size quilts to quilt. September has been sewing / cross stitching birthday gifts. However since Pat first showed the zinger quilt I have thought about it. Ordering pattern today.
The brown Secret Lives of Colors blocks are going to be sweet, like your russet one today. A square of chocolate with a chocolate chip at each corner! 😂😍🍫

Per a quick Google search, Russet potatoes (Russet Burbank) are a hybridization of the Early Rose. Perhaps the Russet name was given the potato because it’s brown skin resembled the russet cloth of which you spoke? Or perhaps because by 1872, when the Russet potato was developed, russet was identified as a color and the potato was named for that? Etymology is so interesting.

I just purchased the pattern. So excited to finally use all my collected selvages on a quilt. I might have to ask my quilt guild ladies for more selvages. Thinking of using yellow or green fabric. Favorite colors!

this red zinger quilt is soo stunning and I'd loved to sew one for my own purpose one day, but most likely I wont get enough selvages to begin with. How ever Im looking forward how you will approach and accomplish this project. Kindest Bille

The charcoal setting I really like, might make a few and see if it is like I envision
I am passing on this one too. I had to make a decision to get my pile of quilted tops bound and the flimsy pile onto the quilting machine. A pile that almost reaches my ceiling is not a good thing. I have made a huge dent in the pile, but it is still way too high. I also have 3 or 4 BOM's in the works.

I had always loved this design and collected selvedges (even used some once) with a mind to "one day" make this. I got the pattern when you first talked about doing this and soooo want to join in. However, I am on a good clip with projects right now so won't "rock the boat" by adding another project! I look forward to following your progress though!!

Pat you need to find Riel Nelson’s Halloween selvage book, it has amazing ghosts and eyeballs and the like all made with selvages, it is a killer book for all Halloween lovers!!!
I'm wondering how it would look with 2 colors for the blocks? Say alternating red & turquoise , or yellow & grey??

I think I really want to make the Red Zinger. I’ve been collecting selvages for a long time but I’m not sure I have enough for this quilt-there are A LOT of selvages in there! Would love to know how many yards of the red background is needed also - she doesn’t show requirements on her Etsy page. does anyone know?
I haven't seen the books you showed on selvages but I did see on a post elsewhere that someone covered the back and seat of a computer chair with selvages. It looked awesome. I suggested she post it to your FB. I think you'll like the zinger tea. QUESTION: Do you put a sleeve on all of your quilts, no matter the size?

Don't you kind of need to get the selvage in your basket by size? This is why I have trouble working on some different scrap quilts. They are supposed to be random, but my brain can't work that way.
nope! You just trim to size as you go. Don't over think it
