    You single-handedly, in 15 minutes, helped me understand making and adjustment layers. 20 years of Photoshop and I never quite mastered the understanding of it and so I simply ignored it and did the work a different way. I'm not sure how, now, but you did it. Thank you so much.

    Thanks. Thanks. 🙏 your videos are quick and to the point and with the transcript you make it easier to check if a tool or technique is being discussed or not and go the point in the video where that is being discussed. 🙏 again.

      Glad it was helpful! I think this video was in Affinity Photo 1, but layers did not changed in 2 so still applicable.🙂

    I'm thinking of buying affinity photo I am on a free trial at the moment and for the last four days I have been scrolling through tutorials trying to get someone to explain layers to me which I could understand, this one does that for me thank you, now I think I wil go ahead and buy it thank you so much for the explanation I am 80 years old and I could follow it the only criticism I have is that video towards the end was blurry

      Hi there glad Im glad to help you make the decision. Affinity offers a ton of value and of the least greedy companies around! Good to hear more people support them! Noted to hear it was blurry will have to check that out.🙂

    Best explanation by far of layers and masking. I love how you zoom in and use a large arrow to clearly show the applicable icon for each step. I wish I'd found this video months ago! Thank you so very much! Liked and subscribed!

    In the two years I've been working with Affinity Photo, very part-time to be sure, I've struggled mightily with masking and layers. Even watching other Affinity content creation techniques I couldn't get Affinity to what it appeared they were doing. Well, they were leaving some things out as I see now. Especially child mask layers. Thanks for relieving a lot of stress...

    • @takebetterphotos8132
      @takebetterphotos8132  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sooner Arrow glad it was helpful. Which item did they leave out which you found out from the video?

    • @soonerarrow
      @soonerarrow 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@takebetterphotos8132
      The Affinity app wasn't configured correctly on my laptop. Hitting mask layer button NEVER placed it as a child, also preselecting areas and then adding an enhancement layer but expecting that preselection to auto apply to that new layer is still hit and miss. Also, using the paint brush for masking is totally new for me in Affinity and the way it and other things are used just seem counter intuitive to me.
      Ive had the product for two years and have had limited success in getting it to do what I want. I get aggravated with it and myself, then turn to other photo editing tools that allow me to get what I want/need to get out.

    Excellent video. Is it possible to feather the edges of the owl against the blurred background for a smoother transition?

    • @takebetterphotos8132
      @takebetterphotos8132  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's actually an issue of Affinity. When the blurring is extensive, halos are hard to remove. That should not happen and I haven't a workaround. Pixelmator has the same issue . I only found this out after comparing editors side by side.

    If I wanted to replace the Owl for and Eagle, how do I do it? Can I drag and drop the Eagle image on top of the Owl or can I copy the eagle image and paste it? Many
    thanks in advance

    • @takebetterphotos8132
      @takebetterphotos8132  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, just can eagle with the background transparent (png) than just paste it over the owl. You can drag it to position.

    I loved Affinity 1 as a stupid guy never needed this, in Affinity 2 its almost required to alter color on any image
    DAMN THEM ALL, ha ha
    Great vid though, honestly layers make a lot of sense, but being lazy is easier some times :)

    Yes too many other tutorials go so fast, and they don't realize that newbies cannot see all the options on the screen as they are so small.
