    such a cool video man. I have a cherokee trailhawk that I turned into my overlander, and I have the inside maxed out with stuff as well. It's awesome to see how people maximize the space they have when they are somewhat limited. Love it.

      @@HarrisonSchoen Since this truck is based off a VW Touareg I’d nervous about reliability since I’ve owned an 08 Touareg with tons of issues. Still a nice setup though.

    Not only are these rigs extremely capable but it’s something different which is nice to see. All vehicles have parts that are prone to breaking so for someone overloading their Cayenne/Touareg, what spare parts would you bring with you on an extended trip? Thx

    I'm loving this way of living out of a car. It seems more descrete and also less expensive (dunno of the porsche choice, but there's definetly cheaper options) than a fully rigged van (not even counting how much a 4x4 sprinter costs) i'd love to make a similar setup as yours in the near future.       The Porsche just happened to be what I had at the time, but the justification for keeping it the same since has been; would you be watching this video if it was a tacoma, or van or jeep or something?

    Big respect for leaving the civilised world behind. I don’t know if you have them fastened down or not but the big silver boxes at the back. I can see one of those smashing the rear window if it gets too bumpy, wouldn’t want you with a broken window

      Thank you! the larger metal box is very sandwiched between the drawers and the hatch so it does not move offroad, but the smaller one I typically move to a different spot so it's not doing something crazy in the back!

    my Transmission service came up this summer and the shop noticed a leak from the pump and $3k later... Now I'm replacing the front suspension. Love the Cayenne Turbo, but if it could slow down on the maintenance...

    Hi harrison! Im a 955 S owner, and have installed eurowise 3" air susp lift and sf drop, I would like to make a similar camper build but was curious if youve found any way to squeeze extra fuel efficiency out of the 957, I know its a porsche and all but for someone living out of a car it is something to consider.

      Cayenne: an almost bulletproof 6-speed Tiptronic transmission, 2-speed transfer case, center and rear locking diffs, air suspension (11+ inch of lift), way overbuilt and the S came with a dry-sump lubrication system… and still excellent on the road. Top pick imo , congrats!

    For the dirty ladder -- iKamper has this little bag for just the bottom feet of the ladder, which is usually the part that gets dirty. It it is much easier to slip it on even one-handed. I don't know if they sell it separately (and whether it would fit). I just thought maybe it would suit you better.

    I was going to replace my Defender 110 with a V8 Diesel Porsche but just couldnt work out how 2 of us could sleep in one. Ended up with a Discovery 4 instead. Love your setup though and its very close to what we use. At 58 though i can tell you my knees hate getting in and out through the side door. Pretty funny and lots of bad language needed. Getting up for a pee in the middle of the night is a pain.

    Hi Harrison, I've been enjoying your videos with my recent search of Cayennes. I'm trying to find more information on how a lifted Cayenne does with towing. Is this still a possibility? Does lifting one affect it's towing capabilities? Looking to tow a car with one.

      Hi there Jason, lifting a cayenne and towing I believe wouldn’t be an issue and I know that people still do it. My concern would be the hearing while towing if going up to larger tires!

    Love your rig man. 2005 S here on air. About to do a Eurowise 3” air lift. I want to utilize my 20” wheels (for now). I want the same beefy look that you have. What tire size would you suggest? Also, what is your in-dash radio setup? My radio went out in my ‘06 Turbo and I’m looking for recommendations. Thanks brother. (Air Force 10 years)

      Hey! If non turbo I’d recommend a 33” tire or so, and probably a 31-32 if turbo because intercoolers.
      In dash I can’t really recommend anything but Porsche released a new headunit for 955/957

    Harrison, does the exhaust sound have a drone noise inside the car? I have a loud exhaust on my 911, and at certain RPM it is just about unbearable. Looking at doing a Cayenne build and I LOVE the sound yours makes!

      The exhaust is louder and is audible within the cabin but I'm able to stand the noise from it personally

      @@HarrisonSchoen update: bought a cayenne S, cut off the muffler to make way for the Eurowise rear off-road bumper, and it sounds amazing! Just drove from south Mississippi to Atlanta and wasn’t bothered by any droning at all. Thanks!

    Do you like having the rooftop tent or do you wish you would've gone a different setup? A lot of people I heard don't like the rooftop tents, and they are pretty darn expensive and not mention heavy, so they dont work on a lot vehicles..

      This one in particular I don't like for my setup, but had a contract with the tent company. I'm fine sleeping in the car, so it isn't necessary also.

    I’m 6’6 and thinking how should I start MiniVanlife or SUV life. But I’m looking more into a 2000 Honda CRV if it’s a SUV that I choose.. Or a 2004 Peugeot 807, 1994 Toyota Estima, 2002 Nissan Serena has higher ceilings

    Not sure you need coolant , you can use water(stream ,river, melt snow ) instead of coolant in case of emergency … no need coolant save room for something else

      Only with certain 17s. The base model cayenne has smaller brake calipers in the front that’ll easily clear 17s

    I noticed in your earlier videos you had a road shower mounted to your rack, did you do away with that because of the Planet Fitness shower option or was there something else about the road shower you did not like? Trying to decide if its worth the investment for me.

      I added a roof tent and no longer had a spot for the shower, so I sold it! It was great and I recommend if you spend your time in climates like San Diego California.
