  • A woman walking alone and on her way home from a night out. A man walking away from his flat. The two will intersect with each other.
A struggle appears to occurr, and the woman goes to the ground. She’s injured in some way. The man is helping her along, or does he have a constant hold on her?
She’s visibly in distress as she goes to the ground again. Once up, the man is walking her across the street, or is he forcing her across?
He told her he was coming after her.

@@UsernameUnkwn21 I think you're missing the point. Laketk is saying the fact that he can even be considered for parole is the problem. Yes, families can make statements every time someone comes up for parole, as you said. But victims, survivors, and families should NOT have to do that. They should not have to endure that retraumatization over and over and over again, it's cruel.

You wouldn't believe what victims have to do to protect themselves from their abuser, and that, sadly, means sometimes sleeping with them (because you would rather do that than being killed)
That outro " you never know what's lurking in the shadows " is sooo especially true for domestic abuse...

@@normn2915 I can understand why we could see things this way. I simply chose to come from a place of compassion. When we were in college, friends and I witnessed one of our dearest friends fall for a guy who seemed very sweet in the begining. But it quickly shifted into abuse and we couldn't understand why, having to endure all of this crap, she would stay with him.
Well we understood months later : he completely got into her head and she was deeply afraid of what he could do to her or her close ones if she ever lef him. You see, he became so verbaly and physically violent that she would prefer to please him and eventually get smacked, than being beaten up.
Abuse is a psychological war between the abuser and their victim(s). They find themselves in a situation where they can't ever feel safe, so they have chose the least worst option at the time.

Listen, at the end of the day, a person with the intention to hurt someone, who is not afraid of laws and consequences, will be difficult to stop from carrying out the act that they are hell bent on committing. Unfortunately, you can't place someone in prison just because they 'might' pose a risk to another person. If we did that, can you see how problematic that could become.
To stop crime, of any nature, you'd need a police officer for every person, going with you everywhere you go.
You can't just blame authorities, which are by and large there to distribute sentences for criminal acts and rely on laws and societal norms and morals to prevent crime.
True prevention of such crimes as this (intimate partner abuse and murder) starts at home, as a young child in the care of your parents and wider family. Followed by the education system. In conjunction together.
Safe, healthy and meaningful relationships should be exhibited at home and should be on the school curriculum as a mandatory subject, instead of bullshit like algebra.
Children should be taught from young what a healthy relationship looks like and how to spot signs of an unhealthy relationship or a potentially dangerous one.
It will not save everyone, as there are those who are going to abuse and kill no matter what (that's part of the nature of mankind).
But if more humans are taught meaningful life skills at a young age (rather than just to be a cog in the machine), maybe we'd have less mal-adjusted folks making society miserable.
Education, Education, Education! Catch them while they're young.
      Food for thought 🤔

Unfortunately, this is a 'phenomenon' witnessed often. At first it seemed like only American's did this but now it's clear that it may just be part of the modern human condition. The phenomenon is that people don't interfere or get involved. Some out of apathy, some out of minding their own business, but MOST because of a belief that 'someone else will intervene, call the cops, help out'. With everyone holding that belief or attitude that 'someone else will do it' it often turns out that NOBODY does anything!

I watched a friend get the shit beat out of her one night by her bf while several guys just stood around. (I’m a female) When I started raising hell with them because they weren’t doing anything, they looked at me and said “that’s none of my business!” Guess who had to intervene???….me! It was totally ridiculous! I have never looked at those guys in the same way after that incident. Nothing but cowards!!

Experiencing DV is frightening and even more so when the police won't do a thing until "something happens." The way he left just filled us with grief and guilt. I don't know what can even truly be done about this, and it won't be easy at all. If they want you bad enough, nothing will really stop them, especially if you're disabled. Such a tragedy. RIP to Marta, gone far too young.

I'm so grateful for the awareness you spread by covering a devastating case like this one.
Marta, may you rest in peace. 🕊️
To all her loving family and friends, I feel for you. ❤
I was in a domestic violence situation...
Yes, I'm one of the 1 in 3 cases of ladies who've experienced domestic violence firsthand.
I'll never forget the feeling of hands around my throat, getting knocked down...
Yet, worse may be the verbal abuse that almost made me believe I deserved it.
    I got out.
Yet, the scars are deep and I can't tell you I'm 100% "okay".
Still, I have a chance to forge a different life, one that Marta did not receive, and I pray and hope to use whatever time I have left to spread awareness myself, too.
I've rescued horses and I've rescued cats, yet, I know better, hopefully now, than to attempt to "rescue" a monster disguised as a man.
Ladies, it's better to be alone than be with someone who abuses and harms you.
And as for the good men out there...
    You face a choice.
Are you doing to sit by and do nothing or are you doing to fight for your sisters/daughters/mothers/aunts/etc?
We need you to help turn the tide and make it so no more Martas die a horrific and senseless death due to a monster who should have been stopped before he could kill her.

Now as I'm older, and still love and appreciate the punk rock , I see cameras are not the enemy. Infact this story also reminds me of how back in the early 1900s an individual placed an exhibit at the Bronx Zoo of a mirror with writing on it stating-"The World's Most Dangerous Animal"..so leave the cameras alone!

btw. the Polish surname "Chmielecki" is pronounced approximately as "h-mi-e-le-tski." Here's a breakdown of the pronunciation:
"ch" is pronounced like the English "h" in "hello."
"m" is pronounced as in English.
"ie" is pronounced like the "ye" in "yes."
"le" is pronounced like the "le" in "let."
"cki" is pronounced like "tski," where "ts" is similar to the "ts" in "cats."

Its already illegal to beat someone. It is already illegal to murder someone. What "stricter laws" could one add to society that will not be broken??? People break restraining orders all the time. What are you gonna do after that?? Make restraining orders MORE illegal to break?🤷‍♂️ Obviously at that moment, the person doesn't care about the law if they are already committed in breaking it. The problem isn't that we need "stricter laws". The problem lies in the heart. Everyone's hearts are wicked.
Now, think about this...If she was able to carry a firearm...I'm NOT saying that it would have saved her life, but what I am saying is that it would have given her a fighting chance. "Stricter laws", don't make you more safe. They actually hinder you from being able to protect yourself. Look at California, New York, the City of Chicago, ect. STRICT gun laws...HIGH crime rate. Those are the facts.
And back to the wicked hearts...If EVERYONE repented and accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross, then the world would be a better and much safer place. And it starts with you. Repent and believe in what Jesus Christ did on the cross before its too late. Life is just a vapor compared to eternity. God bless you.

It's proven longer sentences don't act as a deterrent. A better social welfare safety net saves far more lives than spending money on an industrial prison complex like you have in the US. The US has a homicide rate 5 times that of average for a wealthy country and also the lowest clearance rates for homicides of a wealthy country. Preventing crime is better than building more and more prisons as society crumbles.
