    I love to hear your story. I followed WBB back in 2013 and you`re the reason I still have a small baking business from home. You taught me all the good stuff and I actually visited the bakery in 2914, when I visited my American internet friend (I`m from Denmark). Somplease keep up your stories, you`re almost family and I love your story 😄♥️

    Love your "baking soda spreads- baking powder puffs" saying, I'll never forget that. Also starting the baking soda activation in a little water, how cool to learn that. Also that cake flower has less protein, so the cookies come out crispier.
    I'm all for stirring myself, so I'm going melted butter.
    Since your wonderful recipes are egg free,
    I hope I don't eat all the cookie dough raw!

    I was thinking of making some cookies then your video popped up! Thanks Gretchen I can finally make some lovely cookies, as I usually make them too thick so it would be nice to try it with cake flour! One question can I use gluten free flour mixed with normal flour to get the cake flour effect? Many thanks

    Only lizard people don't prefer chewy cookies...........
    jk but I LOVE these style videos. I'm so bad at engaging with community posts though so ofc I didn't vote smh.
    My default CC recipe is actually the one used in the "chewy" method, which is very fortunate since I don't have to bust out an appliance. I also add a tinge of molasses for that deeper flavor and chewier texture at the liquid stage.
    At any rate, this is a helpful video for cookie bases across different recipes. Hoping I remember to experiment with the baking soda/powder tips later this fall when I'm not dieting anymore. :,)

    Gretchen is it possible to make a thick and crispy cookie? My kids love the chips ahoy cookies but I’m not a fan of the ingredients. I’ve tried many recipes but I have a sneaking suspicion the reason those brands can do that is by the ingredients I don’t like and it’s not possible at home?

      Yes you can do it! But the actual recipe is going to be very different, those types of cookies are shortbread cookies disguised as CCC's
      I make them when I want crispy crunchy cookies and you can scoop them or I usually roll them in a log and slice thick slices. I don't seem to have a recipe that is clear to show you how it's done, perhaps I can get this done today & post soon!
