I think the key was that he respected their training and just hung on the back (until he couldn’t 😊). He didn’t get in their way at all and didn’t intrude. All that said, very cool that they didn’t try to push him away.

I'm impressed that you were able to stay with the pace that they set for most of the time. Nothing wrong with being dropped when they hit the gas, that's their fulltime job!

A Pro Team has the best Bikes in The World some Amateurs doesn't even if u are really good. U will not beat them because u have a shit bike. Idk what kind of bike that guy had. But cycling is a fucked up sport only for rich people. Poor people can't afford a 7k bike. Even 1k is a lot for just a bike and that is how all the talent in cycling gets lost. All those riders from Quick Step i am sure that they are born and come from a rich family.

First of them was Bardet who was doing intervals training so he passed me at a crazy speed, last of them was Peraud who was going up very easily (recovery ride for him) so I was able to keep up with him in the last kilometer (of course I was going as fast as I could).

Amazing video! Man, It would be so nice to have one of those bikes! I just started cycling in October of 2018. I’ve got.a steel frame 8-speed Touring bike “Khs Bicycles- Model: Urban Xtreme 2016” (Bought it instead of a sport bike because I had no clue what I was doing 😂) the bike weighs nearly 20kg’s but I ride it 24/7. On the flats, I can only maintain about 35km/h. Sprinting I can get into the 60’skm/h but can’t
Hold it longer than 10 seconds.. Sometimes, I manage to hold it for 13-14seconds. I would love to see what I could be capable of on a bike like one of those! What a humbling video this was. That's the difference between a pro and amateur cyclist. They are professional train to output 120% more than us. The company invest on riders to build their stamina and strength with mental fitness.
Quickstep is generous to share their biking experience with you. That's a humble team indeed. Most pro teams will keep to themselves on their secret training facilities.

Don't forget that they probably have 20-30 years on the rider who shot this video. Remember your VO2Max peaks when you're in your 20-30s and then slowly drops off.

20 years ago I was a strong amateur and used to race most of the gran fondo races here in Italy. One of them was a mostly flat in Riccione and Mario Scirea with another Saeco rider was at the start (they were part of the “train” of Mario Cipollini, if you remember him). Well these two giys paced at 48/50kmh for a couple of hours just chatting side by side. Then they turned their bikes and went back home, with another hour to reach home, having finished their “discharge training” for that day. I was young and strong, but very impressed by that cruise speed in such an easy way 😳
