I worked on a Helldivers 2 inspired render in Blender over the last couple of weeks, trying to recreate the amazing visual style in a 3d scene. In this video I go over my process in detail, explaining how I constructed this using all free software, without way too much trouble.

Great render and breakdown - I've actually wondered where to find some nice Helldivers models, glad I found your video! There's one point I'd like to point out about the Quixel Megascans though - the license you get for using those models for free only applies to Unreal Engine. You are allowed to take them into Blender or other software to edit them, but if you'd want to use them outside of Unreal you'd have to pay for the corresponding license. Don't think Epic's gonna hunt you down or anything, just a small heads up. :)

0:05 What do the different colors represent? weight?
Good question! The colours are just generated randomly for each mesh, to provide more clarity in the viewport which I find useful sometimes

why you ram usag is lower than your vram ?
i was using blender and i imported 3 8k car modles and my ram consumption was 8gb and my vram was 3gb why is this so? i am new to blender
Idk haha I think its just dependent on the stuff you have in your scene I guess. I guess I had a lot of different textures going at once in cycles with displacement mapping and so my VRAM was particularly high
