@@The-Game-Master Absolutely right. The reason Disney can’t make good Star Wars is that they can’t help but decide on the intersectional traits of the characters first and then try to write stories around them afterwards. It’s the definition of putting the cart before the horse. The characters come off flat and contrived, their existence in the world is thin and unbelievable, and as a result no one cares about their story.
Not enough contrast, too bright, too much fog for compesating missing landscape details. Looks extremely fake. Also compositing isn't that good, the blurriness seems unrealistic.
@@TechnoMinarchist Actually not, Acolyte isn't a good show, but the effects are good, mostly because they use real sets, so not that much is CGI, really.
Fog, dust, and smoke are some of the easiest ways to improve the look of scene because it covers up any mistakes or low effort attempts. That's not a diss, it's a really great trick to use to make a difficult task easy. _But_ it _is_ only a trick and you can't use it all the time unless you choose to exclusively work on scenes that take place in such conditions (which is incredibly limiting). There are a lot of great tools public ally available that people can use to create Hollywood level scenes or even full films, but this video seems to suggest that it's far easier and straight forward than it is. But overall, great video.
So what you’re saying is all we need is a ton of dedicated fans, a bit of money, and a good lawyer, and we can make the Knights of the Old Republic series and the Yuuzhan Vong War trilogy ourselves?
When homeboy learns about EXR, crypto matte, material matte, Z depth, motion vectors & all the other goodies it comes with, you are gonna have a blast! Those extra channels gives you tons and tons of optons that makes compositing faster & easier 😎👍
@CTZN1 or you need to learn about colorspace or you need better comp skills , either way you start to realize starwars quality is not as cheap as you thinking
@@George901210 yahh, I still confused though, like, I'm recording with my phone, I don't know what color space my phone uses, or is it sRGB? Or rec 709...?
@@puterboy2 YESSSS!!!! There was someone trying to make Heir to the Empire with old computer game software a bit ago, but the techonology has gotten so much better, probably it could be really awesome. That was AWESOME! This means it's time for fans to begin making feature-length Star Wars films ( I mean really good ones - heard of star trek Axanar? ) The studios aren't going to do it. Looks like viewers will have to.
Tricks you are using are so ingenious, like using greenscreen outside for actual sunlight that made everything so realistic, subject and background doesn't look seperated. Then that footprints on the sand.... I am subscribing wanna learn more....

I spend years as a fan of Andrew Kramer and Sam. Loved going through the tutorials. Glad to see it still gets a mention today. VideoCopilot was mega. Great video by the way. And yeah, I can them AT ATs note a-t a-t😅
This is great! I really like the composition and storytelling going on here. It's cool to see one of my models being used in a fun and educational project like this :) Keep up the good work!
Some unsolicited tips for optimization: Put the object in a collection and instance the collection and turn the collection off, you then don’t need to hide the object in your scene under the geometry. You can get a “dust pass” from rendering the Z pass (feel free to combine with fractal noise). Once you generate the footprint displacement, render that bad boy out into an animated normal map so you don’t have to render your scene with all those polygons on that plane when most of that detail is going to be barely visible in the final shot, the normal map can even feed into the displacement channel.
It's amazing but definitely can't be done by anyone. Most people I know have problem with Microsoft Word so until you can make a star wars movie all just from phone, nah 😅 But your shot looks great, pretty good lighting.
LOVE IT! Subscribed. The content is great and so is your humor. More importantly, the TIMING (and length) of the humor is spot-on. I see a lot of creators over-use humor and it tends to get in the way of the content (and sometimes doubles the length of the video), but your humor was just right and added to the enjoyment (instead of distracting from the content). Kudos on this. Can't wait to dig into more of your content.
bro manged to pack in genuinely funny humor and knowledge at the same time I am now going to observe your every move my friend, there is no escape, u must continue to create great content, or I will make an army in blender and make them come for you 🤗

Your videos are both entertaining and educational, offering humor alongside insightful information. I consistently find them enjoyable to watch. Keep up the excellent work!
This looked great dude super impressive, I think your compositing and visuals were great! There was only one thing I noticed that I thought stood out (and I hope you don't mind constructive criticism), I think the blur on the shot from behind was slightly incorrect or it was the overlay of fog perhaps. Overall though it's seriously impressive! Can't wait to see more and I'll definitely be subbing!

yo the foot prints one part is just amazing I was finding it for months and lost hope. But you gave the hope back. May the force be with you.
Would you say it was - your LAST HOPE? ;) XD :3
The intro to that part was risky though. I almost skipped 5 minuttes ahead to avoid the paid sponsor segment for "feet" 😂🤣
some could say you found a "new hope"
Props to making this look so good without spending 180 million dollars. Disney take notice.

Why not?
a reaally good lawyer
This is a good idea. I’ve always wanted to be a part of making a Star Wars short series so I’m down!
