How To Pick Up Underarm Stitches in Top Down Knitting || No Underarm Holes! || Knitting Podcast

In this video I show knitters how to pick up the underarm stitches without leaving a gap between the picked up stitches and the stitches on hold. I first learned this technique from Jennifer Steingass when I was test knitting for her. I love to use this knitting technique.

Hello, I am also knitting the Rock It Tee, thank you for your video, it helped me to finish my sleeves, however I cannot figure out how to pick up stitches for the neck edge because of all the yarn overs. Are you supposed to put your needle to pick up under where the yarn overs are? I am concerned that will make a bigger hole. And if you don’t pick up there will there be a gape in the neckline? I cannot find any videos online that show how to pick up stitches where you have yarn overs or lace. Thank you

Hi Fran, are you talking about the four sleeve points up by the neck? If that’s the case, I would simply skip that yarn over stitch to kind of close the gap. Let me know if that’s the case.

One more question - when you picked up for your neck edging, did you knit another round or did you pick up the stitches and immediately add the 4 stitches and right away did the icord bind off?
