This is great. I’m making my first top down sweater, child’s size. Instructions call for dpn’s. I was going to use two cables instead, which I’ve done on hats a couple of times. This looks way better. Thank you.
Oof! I am glad I finally found this; yrs I have to "tink back" my first sleeve but I was getting gaps and they were "like soap in my eyes" - I think this will help send me in the correct direction. Thank-you. Thank-you

When you're working in the round, knitting every round creates stockinette fabric because there is no wrong-side of the fabric. Whereas when you're working flat (i.e, back and forth), you knit on right-side rows and purl on wrong-side rows. Hope that helps! :)

Once you get the hang of magic loop, I personally find it much easier than working 4 DPN's - there's a little bit of a learning curve but it's totally worth sticking with it a bit to see if you also find it easier!
You're very welcome! So for magic loop, you can always use either a 32" or 40" circular. I usually always use 32" (even for a baby sleeve). I hope that helps! :)

That's true - they do sell 9" or 12" length circulars, but some people find those hard to work with because the tips are so short and so magic loop can be a good alternative. Personally I find the super short circulars to hurt my hands a bit, but I do know many people who love working with them as well. So it's worth testing out for sure to see what works best for you!

Do you think magic loop method is easier then using 4 DPN? I have both needles and I'm a beginner with cardigans.

If you’re making a baby sweater then even a short cable usually isn’t small enough for the sleeves! So magic loop is sooo much easier.
