When you reach a part in the pattern you so bravely took on and there are videos like this to help you see and actually understand what you are supposed to do. It just makes me so happy! Thank you for allowing us to continue being brave on our knitting journeys.

That is so true. I read through patterns before I start just to see how many new techniques I will have to figure out. I haven’t even gotten to this part of the pattern but I’ve watched many videos so I won’t delay getting to that part out of fear of not knowing how to proceed. This helps a lot and I’m so grateful people make videos to help us get through the hardest parts!

Thank you for explaining why you’re taking the steps you are - particularly bring the yarn from the front to the back between the last two cast ons - I learn better when I understand /why/ I’m doing something, instead of following directions rote.

Great tips! I knew there had to be another way besides backwards loops. This looks much more solid and like a natural cast on. On with my sweater I go thanks to you!

Boy, did this video save me a lot of time! I too am knitting a top down sweater for the first time, and the instructions just said to put the sleeve stitches on scrap yarn and cast on so many more stitches. I couldn’t see how you could then continue knitting in the same direction. Answer: turn the whole thing around! Thank you for such a clear video.

  • @rebalspirit

Triple thumbs up! Thank you so much. I'm working my first sweater successfully (four months of failure and yarn thrown in the trash) and I'm coming up on the top down sleeve on hold cast on part. I was getting anxious because of my lengthy failure history, so I found this tutorial and have immediate reduction of my anxiety. It reads more complicated than it actually is, in part because patterns assume you know what you're doing, which I clearly don't. I have a friend who knits and I can commiserate with her and she's been incredibly supportive. But she's not a teacher and doesn't live close enough to guide me as I'm knitting. Self taught is experience engraved in my wallet. 😂 I thrive on TH-cam videos, and still struggle. All of that to say, this video gives me hope and a new channel to turn to when I am distressed. ❤🔥💯%

THANK YOU. You were the only video I could find that showed the cable cast on Purl-wise for under the arm. Everyone else shows it Knit-wise as a standard, even when they are working on the purl side. It never made sense to me. Then you will see the list of videos showing how they try to hide those additional purl bumps. YOUR WAY- takes all that additional work away. Much simpler to do it the correct way first- right? Right. Thank you again!
