  • Jakub Józef Orlinski has legions of fans who love him - for a very good reason! He has brought a new freshness to baroque music and an unexpected sensuality to what is usually a very unsexy voice type: the counter tenor!
Orlinski is one of the most sensual singers on the planet because h lives and breathes every note of the music he sings. Nobody can equal Orlinski today in this baroque repertoire. Is he the new Farinelli?

Orlinski’s rise to the top has been rapid. But who else is bringing such sensuality to baroque singing?

Now I want to see him breakdancing! And why does this performance remind me of someone blowing soap bubbles in a garden? There is something so playful about it and yet it is deeply emotional and sensual. Can we for a moment also marvel at his agility in the ornamentation? So perfectly effortless. His voice certainly has more colour than I have come to expect from a countertenor.

This is new for me. What little I have heard of Baroque seemed dry. Hearing you talk about it, William, helps me to hear it differently as Orlinski seems to want us to hear it. Very beautiful voice and much much more engaging for me! There is another male singer we both know that I would LOVE to hear make a Baroque piece his own.😘

    William.
I accidentally ran across Jakub Orlinski and instantly needed to learn all I could about him. His Anima Sacra is amazing.
And in my search for Mr. Orlinski, I discovered you.
You're magnificent in your technical analysis of Mr. Orlinski. You are describing perfectly why so many are instant fans of his remarkably beautiful voice.
Baroque music has always been one of my favorite musical styles. But with your explanation and expertise, I am drawn deeper into the music. You help me understand these base emotions I am feeling.
You are right. The audience loves Orlinski, and I love you for helping us all gain a deeper understanding of the musical voice.
    My sincerest gratitude.

I listened to it in real life in Turin and discovered that it is even more beautiful than on video. The program was extremely difficult and he broke up the most arduous moments by going down to the stalls or doing somersaults on stage with great skill. He could be a histrionic if he weren't so superficially nice. Was Farinelli also a Peter Pan?

Жарусски тоже здорово поет эту арию. Но у Орлинского тембр не такой звонкий и по-хорошему пронзительный, он более бархатный. Но лучше всех непревзойдённая Чечилия Бартоли.

Jaroussky is on the opposite edge of contertenor singing... Orlinski has a masculine voice colour, Jaroussky is far feminine... You like it or not but Orlinski is a revolutionary in countertenor singing, adding a lot of himself, flawlessly combining the chest voice with the head one and improvising... He is far from the so called "conservative" singing. That's what
William wanted to convey, in my opinion. And... I agree with him 100%.

I really like Logan Tanner's great alto (excellent American education). I've never heard him live (or on video; Orliński several times). The stage charisma is decisive. Few singers per century are as delightful as Orliński in this category. Even in recordings; listen to "He was Despised" and "Stlle Amare". But that's a matter of personal choice.

@@virginielafrench3921 Almost all countertenors sing in falsetto, but the final effect (soprano countertenor, mezzo-soprano countertenor, alto countertenor) is an individual matter. There is also a rare natural male alto voice (today e.g. Vincenzo Capezzuto, historically: Russell Oberlin). Your "He's more my kind of man!" ends the discussion. De gustibus non est disputandum.
