      @Narkomancers because the creator of this tech said that directstorage reduce the CPU load and you can gain more fps/performance with this tech since the CPU doesnt have to work like they used to like transfering/unpacking the needed asset to the gpu

    • @whoopsie-vf8ib
      @whoopsie-vf8ib 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Narkomancers i dont get what you mean but, GPU has thousand(i dont know how many exactly) of processors instead of CPU, it can unpack the data faster than CPU which only have 2-16cores even if they are higher clock and faster than GPU in running task, but with many of data asset unpack at once with cpu it will take longer and processing for storage -> ram -> cpu -> gpu back and forth.
      this directstorage directly transfer the data from storage to your gpu at once, since the gpu has lots of processor to unpack the data it will be much faster than cpu as you can see in the video.
      and as for the performance of the gpu it wont matter to much or maybe no difference because when the data/asset is unpacked it will be saved as cache.
      i think this tech will benefit much better to people who has low end CPU (2-4cores), maybe high end CPU doesnt show much difference in terms of performance

    Fast loading on NVME SSDs,but totally garbage optimization.What an irony

    DirectStorage only works with NVMe drives and NOT SATA. This is likely an NVMe drive considering the load time. Be careful about what you're buying and make sure it's actually NVMe and not SATA as they can look exactly the same.

      This is a TEAM L5 SSD,used in my PC.
      DirectStorage does work with any drive type and doesn't need explicitly a NVMe drive.

      i think you need to do more research, it works in every storage but with a different speed, storage with the highest speed get the most speed obviously.

      actually it works with sata drives too, it just depends how they optimize the games, but the building blocks were desinged for all drives to be sped up not just nvme. according to thier websites.
