An era we will never get back. Bert's screams were unreal. Miss the grit they used to have with songs like Pieces Mended.

Pieces mended is their best song.
And dude. We'll never see a movement in music that matches this one. I am so happy I was there for it

What a performance! Everyone single person at this show is so lucky! I never got to see the Used during this era. These songs so raw... They were in the best during this album IMO. So lame what happened with all the drama between members/etc.

It was definitely a special time. I found the band through an Atticus record that had Box Full on it as an unreleased demo before the self titled debut released. I saw them live for the first time in 2002 about 2 weeks before the first record released. It was like the 6th or 7th show they'd ever played and they were playing with Mest and the Riddlin Kids. A couple weeks later I bought the record as soon as it came out and they quickly became my favorite band. They played 2002 Warped as well and I saw them there and on this 2003 Warped tour. I've seen them countless times over the years and have gotten to know the guys from being at shows. Partied with them after shows a couple times and made some memories I'll never forget. You mentioned all the drama between members. They've definitely had some, but not nearly as much as some bands. They're friendly with Branden, but Branden was the only change for a long time. Quinn leaving was definitely a bummer and more drama there. Then Justin filled his shoe's and had a messy departure. Definitely a bummer, but Quinn and Branden have been working on stuff together for a few years and hopefully releasing stuff soon. I don't know Joey too well but he seems to be doing well with the guys. Looking forward to the next record!

I'd say they were better live during the In Love and Death album cycle. There was definitely something special about the first couple years, but they really settled in and sounded a lot tighter after the experience of touring for a few years. I could literally see the evolution in the live shows as they happened. You can see it watching old recordings too. From the Maybe Memories DVD to the Berth DVD, or all of the other live performances that were recorded and fan videos from the crowd.

I saw them I believe in 2006 or somewhere around there I was in high-school and I swear this album got me through bad days. This album is pure perfection. My mom's friend got to party with them after at her apartment and I was so jealous 😂. But I was young so I get it lol. I'm feeling nostalgic over here. Best concert I ever saw.

@@jennkieras7848 what a band they were when they first put out this album. It was so special! I saw them later at taste of chaos around 2007ish but can admit that they weren't the same band. All the smoking/drugs/drinking and heaving touring caught up to them and they didn't have the original 4. What a cool thing to know about them with your friends mom haha. I've never really wanted to meet any of my heroes in fear of being let down by them. My buddy toured with story of the year and my chemical romance with his band back in the day and I heard some pretty brutal/negative stories about that culture.

Back when Warped Tour was transitioning from the happy - go - lucky, pop punk sound to a more harsher emo aesthetic/sound. 2002 and 2003 were the years of transition. There were still bands of the latter on the lineups, but the former sound started to gain popularity around these years.

There's footage of Dillinger Escape Plan playing on a tiny stage at Warped Tour back in 2000 I think. It's crazy to see. Also they still had their original singer at that time.

So crazy this was like 18 yrs ago!! Still my favorite band today.. Joey is a great guitar player but it's just weird that Quinn is no longer in the band.. their latest album Heartwork wasn't my favorite at first but it's really grown on me.. I live in Indy too, I wasn't at this Warped '03 but went to Warped at "Deer Creek" lol the following year 04.. anyway awesome video!!

Still one of the most unique drum voices in the entire genre. Some people went straight skate punk on their kit, some overplayed it to an extreme, all the while Branden was always in that elusive sweet spot of being original, unpredictable almost, and yet always straight in the pocket and complementing the nature of the music

This video helped me realize I (and most guitarists out there except Quinn, Justin and Joey) have been playing Blue and Yellow wrong for YEARS. The verse riff, he doesn't slide from an F (or D# in the live version) octave to an E (or D in the live version) octave, he slides on the A string from the 8th to 7th fret but doesn't move his pinky off the 10th on the G, that note remains. Watch 15:31 to see what I mean.

Same applies to the drums as well. Dan improvises quite a bit on songs Steineckert co-wrote, especially Blue and Yellow. The Used material after Love and Death, even Lies for Liars (though Steineckert did not drum on that record) sound groveless and a bit watered down...no pun intended.
