I love the aesthetics of your stuff. Maybe I‘m too late, but here are two suggestions for the marker problem: I‘m using a light grey fountainpen-ink in either a pilot parallel pen, which has a very wide caligraphy nib and is refillable, or I let my marker soak in the ink overnight (held by a rubberband, so the tip doesn‘t stand on the ground). I‘m using the same marker for three years now, and it‘s still working.
You cannot go wrong with leather bags like the Leonhard Hayden you have. They age with grace and elegance, not to mention the scent you get that perfumes the air around you.
I love your calming videos! I print almost everything as well, but I do it online to spare money and you can choose how to make it look more like a book. Love the bag also!
loved the video! thank you! for the metallic highlighters swap - i've struggled w the same thing, trying to avoid the plastic, so i'm trying out the watercolour pencils (or just regular colouring wooden pencils) now. It seems to be working. worth a try.
Have you thought about getting a converter for your Lamy pen, so you can use ink that comes in glass bottles? I started doing it and got some really pretty inks. 😊
It was not just about the products but just as much about an intentional living/consuming philosophy. I wasn't expecting that and I didn't know I needed to hear that but that is my main takeaway today. I'm thinking about my purchasing and consuming habits. Thank you for presenting this. I laughed when you said, "and it's still not enough food!". I saw you have the weekly planning page yo put in the front of the slim notebook, do you have a monthly or yearly planner as well? To keep track of essay deadlines or other things? Just curious. Your analog and printing out comments resonated 100 per cent with me. You used the perfect word - the digital stuff isn't GRASPABLE. I have notes and books and sure, they're on a drive somewhere or in the cloud but do I ever go there? No. Its like a digital blackhole garbage can for me. But I don't go there because reading things on screens just doesn't do it for me. So It's preference. The ongoing task of combining analog and digital (while holding onto analog in every way possible). If I may I'm going to recommend a documentary film for you to watch. I know you have zero free time. But one day perhaps if you do check out "California Typewriter". Its about typewriters but its also about people living and expressing themselves in ways that echo so much of what you said today. It's got moving personal stories, celebrities, and analog enthusiasts. But be warned: after watching it you will want to get a typewriter. I got one and now I write letters to people using it. (Personal letters). It's a joyful, intentional practice. I'm rambling. Another great video. I am thinking we have to wait until next sunday for another video and I must quote my four year old nephew on the topic: "But I don't like waiting!" Have a great week.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I do have a yearly planner as well and I thought about making a dedicated video about how I plan my week. I've figured out a system that works very well for uni and work that still doesn't overwhelm me and leaves wiggle room and free time in. Yeah I see we're on the same page with digital garbage can 😅 I think there are just people who have a genuine repulsion for the all-digital lifestyle. I know it would make me very unhappy to live without paper. I love paper ❤ You know I might watch that movie. I would consider myself as someone who actually has quite some free time. And I have a typewriter soooo.... And I love writing personal letters to people 🥲 Now I just need to find a way to watch it.
Because of your comment, I watched California Typewriter last night...it's beautiful, and I want one! Lucky me, I live in San Francisco, so I can visit the shop. ❤
It is beautiful! So much heart in those personal lives. Welcome to the club! 😊 The more the merrier! Now, one more recommendation : Wordplay. A document Gary about NY Times crossword puzzle construction, and solvers. Like California typewriter it has beautiful stories of people, including celebrities. You will laugh, cry and start trying to solve the puzzle. It’s another joyful, compelling and lovely documentary. When you get tired of typing pick up your crossword puzzle. 😂👍🏻✌🏻 thank you for letting me know is you watched and enjoyed- made my day.
My first Goethe: "The Attorney". Short story in a dual German/English edition. A wealthy older nobleman marries a young woman, goes abroad on vacation, and gives her permission to engage in an affair. I'm about 3/4 way through.
Regarding sticky notes, I share your feelings, but my local stationer sells ‘Quantore Haftnotizen’ which are a quite manageable pastel yellow. I haven’t found white ones yet, but one can dream…
I have the same pen and cheaper one with different nib size. (easier than changing nibs ) And you can use sticky tape to exchange nibs without damaging them or getting calligraphy set version. Knight is an important piece. 😅 Werther is good one, I find the character too exaggerated but there are good sentences worth noting however I like Gogol's - Diary of a madman story more.
Yes I've actually made a video about Hunger not long ago. I'd love to get my hands on the Norwegian version, but it's not so easy to get Norwegian books into Austria it seems...
Having oorder and being orginesed is so important fof our peace of mind. I have a ipad and i keep mislayying the stylous oe electronic pen for the touch screen. Also it is so fickle and hard to stay on the same eletronic page. Holding a book in hand is alot easier to read and review. 'We can be effective with people, and effechient with things' a qoute from the book. Seven habits of highly effective people, by Stephen S Covey. He had another good qoute ' the urgent the clock vs the important, the 🧭 compas. What is our priority? Thanks for your story. Have a lovely week, ans study tiime.
Which I just finished this very early morning before dawn. Goethe's thesis is apparently one of continence and self-denial. He speak of a countering instinct to desire. It conjures up thoughts of the Buddhists' emptiness to me.
I am getting really tired of YT pausing your subscriber count at 8.75k... for like 4-5 months!! It should be 10x what it is now. Just stick with it... it will pick-up eventually. It surely will!
Haha thanks so much for the encouraging words. I noticed it too. But then again, being a smaller creator also has a very nice and personal side to it. And I'm currently reading a book that questions whether growth is always good. It might just make things more complicated if I'm not careful...
I love the aesthetics of your stuff.

When you stood up carrying the bag, I realized it's really a big bag. PhD people really carry a lot of stuff. Guilty as charged! Cheers, Maria. 🥰🤓😍

You really do love analogue systems - the focus issues showed off your shelf of lever arch folders!
Haha I really need to clean up back there 😅
Thomas Bernhard and a fountain pen in the same bag! Lovely.

I didn't even know that was possible 😅I'll look into it! Thanks a lot.

Wow I did not know this one: it sounds fascinating!
Interesting. I haven't read that one yet. Goethe and his weird love stories 😅

You're studying Norwegian? Have you read Knut Hamsun? If not, I recommend Hunger, Pan, and Mysteries.

I have a stack of kraft paper sticky notes I bought at Daiso, maybe you'd like that, very basic color.
SO inspiring!
What kind of pen do you use?😊
