My dad put me onto Lonnie when I was growing up. I made him a couple of cds when I got older and he loved them. He passed a few months ago from cancer. He's at peace now.
Bless Your Heart. I'm fairly sure my Dad invented surround sound. He had speakers in every room and corner of the house including the bathroom and the basement used only for storage. He played really good music loud. Sounds of Lonnie Liston Smith was the backdrop of my journey with my father. My Dad is living one day at a time in the shadow of prostate cancer. Sincere condolence on the passing of your Dad. May your spirit be lifted when you here the music he loved.
@@antunesiaharris32 wow thats an amazing story and im mad i didnt see this sooner. youtube is trash when it comes to proper comment notifications. i appreciate reading that about you and your dad and i send well wishes your way also.

I used to listen to Lonnie, this album included, back in the early 70’s but unfortunately I forgot about this great musician over the years. Thanks for bringing his work back into my life!
Thanks Aguirre for enriching and helping diversify my music taste and library. Discovering your channel's been one of my major highlights this year. Cheers for the years yet to come, wishing they're always filled with joy and new discoveries. Congratulations!
helo. i just want to thank you for the past year. i spent so much time listening to your channel on educational purposes, as you say. you changed my way of listenong. thank you so much. please keep it going.
Yes, I agree with you shmaic and because of Aguirre, I have openned my ears but reading his beautifully written notes on all his posts are very educational as well
Coltrane received criticism from the jazz world at the latter part of his life during his stint with Avant-garde. This particular style of aggressive phrasing by which made Coltrane a Jazz pariah, Lonnie Lister Smith uses that same style and people get it. In fact they love it.
There's far more rhythmic and harmonic stability here plus hindu instrumentation which soothes and smooths the edges. Coltrane at that point just went into deep musical exploration, which sometimes is just cacophonous (think "Cosmic Music")

Wow!)) Best ambient jazz record. Miles Devies's "In a silient way" is the only one above...
Above ? Well it's a matter of taste.
I would like to meet the guy that gives this a thumbs down.
This made me lol !
