I've cut a lot of those woody vines like at 12:50 They're a challenging thing to chop because they are soft wood, but very tough skin. so they flex like crazy and tend to absorb swings instead of letting them through. Like a big spring. Any machete which works well on those tends to be good at both heavy wood and soft reeds, etc.
I do like that reach. It's super helpful to be able to clear down to ankle level without taking a knee. Especially hard to find a machete which is good for that if you're tall.
I think if you wanted to do a significant number of trees, you'd want a really heavy duty parang or the ZT reaver cleaver instead. But I'm sure that cold steel burns a lot less calories clearing a path in undergrowth than one of the really thick options out there.
There are smaller machetes which are more wieldy for much of the stuff you did. Easier to use with 1 hand, and less likely to snag on twigs in thicker areas. But very few machetes are good for heavy wood chopping, or having the reach to clear down to the ankle while standing upright. This looks like a very decent option.

Beast of a blade and I love how it cleared all that brush ; someone with a gas powered trimmer could not have cleared it as fast as you did and you did it in unfavorable weather conditions. It would be cool if that style of blade was full tang and was about the size of the Peacekeeper or your mission IV..

That looks like a lit of fun. Did a great job on everything it hit. Would love to see you take it out on a better day and really put it through its paces. See what it is truly capable of. Curious would you recommend putting tennis racket tape on the handle like Chris Tanner does alot on the plastic type handles?
Off topic a bit enjoyed seeing the ghost talk. You have a lot of gear for detection of spirits. We had a place around here that was supposedly a portal. I believe it was Bobby Mackie. Know there was a book about it even. Would like to hear more stories in the future. You should go with Scab to that church with your gear some All Hallows Eve and see what happens when the veil is thinnest.
Back to the War Sword Machete really nice. Great video.

    • @DonnieBAllDay
      @DonnieBAllDay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I'd love to investigate a portal and plan on the church with Scab. As far as tennis tape? Nope. Not a great idea. It not only shifts over time, but it causes improper weight, poor ergonomics oversizing the grip and shrinks the inside grip.

Hi DBad, how do you sharpen a convex edege ? Is a bit (or even more than a bit) tricky...
Would you mind posting a tutorial ?
I saw a tutorial once of somebody sharpening an axe - it seemed a real pain in the ass to do that ... (The tutorial itself took about 45 minutes or so....oh, yeah, and a dedicated workshop - like press and other stuff 😜)
I messed up my Condor Hdson Bay tearing apart a crappy old couch - full of nails and other bullshshit ... I had to use some "finesse tools" like a crawbar and my trusted Hudson Bay to tear apart that thing ... I finished the job but my Condor HB looks almost like a saw ... Although it performed flawless at chopping and cutting through nails and other crappy things ...
Now I'd really want to restore it ...
    It's a really good knife !

It's easier than you might think. A belt system works best. I use a 1x30 belt grinder. The key is to use an area of the belt that flexes. So no stabilizing plate. Usually the middle of the belt. Then strop it with no wood. So the strop bends. I'll try and get a vid out.

Here in the madlands of the UK my area has some of the highest knife crime and I can’t even take a brute like that anywhere that the public might see or I can expect a visit from the Armed Response Team. However as long as I don’t wip it out in public I should be ok 🤪👍. Stay safe brother.

You can definitely tell Dadaos were a weapon descended from peasant heavy brush clearing tools. Imagine how fast an army with them could make a place for camp lol. The thing is sword, axe, and machete all in one!

I do want a Cold Steel Barong Machete or 18 inch D-guard Latin Machete next. Anyway, that Cold Steel Chinese War Sword Machete is a beast of a machete! That thing is a hacking monster!
