- Hey guys I wanted to show you this 2018 Road Glide with 12 inch apes by Paul Yaffe. Also wanted to demonstrate that you can install up to 12 ape hangers on 14 later road glide and street glide without having to change your cables which is great for you cost conscious guys. Also wanted to let you guys hear the 4 inch slip on mufflers from Rinehart racing. They sound good and Rinehart is a great company that stands behind their product which I have alot of respect for. The also make a 4.5 inch slip on muffler that puts off a little sound, they are called to moto pro slip ons. Thanks for watching guys and I hope this was helpful!!

I put on Klockwerks Kliphanger 14" bars on my 2018 RGS and they are a game changer. Incredible change in control and steering, not to mention looks. I also changed that worthless windscreen to a LRS 12" clear, which dramatically reduced my head buffeting. I also added rider back support and changed to a Sundowner seat. Just returned from a 14 day trip from Atlanta to Santa Monica and back. No back issues noticed!
thats great, some people really underestimate what a handlebar change can do for comfort and handling, glad your trip went well! I would love to do a haul like that.

I just picked up a 2018 Road glide special, and am wanting to put apes on it, those Yaffe's, are what I was looking at, so it was nice to find a video with them already on so I can see how they look. I think the Rinehart exhaust will be what I go with as well but maybe the 4-1/2. Anyway great video and thanks.
Just put on Kliphanger 14s on my 2018 RGS and the result was an immediate improvement in control and comfort.

Honestly thanks for this. I bought a 2020 Road glide special last month. Went from a 2013 Street glide. I had 12” bars on my Street glide. The RG has stock bars so I was thinking of going to 14”. But I’m 6’ and I think I’ll stick with the 12”. This video sold me on staying with the 12”

I just bought my Road Glide it is a 2018 only had 2400 miles on it in Wicked Red and I love it. Mine had S&S pipes and they sound Great. I did take the factory wind shield off and put a Klockwerks 14 inch in smoke and it made a big difference.
I have an 07 Road Glide with a 2012 103 motor and had to replace my bars and I put on a set of Street Glide 14in apes.. It looks great and really comfortable.. Everyone said that's will look dumb but now that it's on those same people love it..
Did you have to change wires and cables to install 14" apes?

2019 Road Glide Special, I put Road 6 Customs 11 inch apes on last night. Very nice bars. Did it myself and it wasnt to hard. My first Harley and fist time to work on one. Rear video. I did the slip ones and didn’t like them.
I cut the exhaust off before cat and welded a Vance and Hines on it. Sounds amazing.

I did 12” factory 47 bars, and bassani road rage 3. Bars were a must.
I have the same bars on my RG, mines are 14's and I love the point on the bars it give the bike a nice look

Looks great! That white RGS looks like a Stormtrooper from Star Wars! Got 14" KST Kustoms Renegades on my 16 and you can run stock wiring... I notched the bottom of the instrument cluster to run the clutch and brake cables and to give them a little more breathing room! Glad I found your channel definitely look forward to watching more!

Must be case by case experience concerning Rinehart exhaust.. bought a set of DBX45 for my 19’ RG with black tips - got them in, pulled one slip-on out of the box and held it up against the black bike and immediately decide I would like the chrome tips better!! Called the company and they wanted to charge me 15% restocking fee.. that’s almost $200 bucks on a $700 purchase cause they wouldn’t swap out the tips!! Great Company!!

S&S is my 2nd choice. My buddy chose them on his tri glide luvs them. They sound good.
Finally, someone who knows how to ride a Harley. See a lot of guys lugging the hell out of these things running em at 1500rpm. Pretty bike and hell of a good rider!
Just remember, these M8 motors can suffer blowby and sumping if your bouncing the rev limiter a lot. Every model of harley engine had the same issues. And it was usually the guy running the stuffing out of the bike to experience that. Out of 7 harleys I've owned i only had sump issues with my first one.... evolution 1200 sportster. I rode it like a pissed off teenager. But like you said, don't lug em either. That's actually hard on a motor also.

jesus Mercado that’s great! We’ve never pushed for 14’s because we didn’t want to risk it with yaffe’s cause they run big. Happy to hear 14 yaffe’s would work with stock cables

Got the exactly bars and bike but mine motor is built with the stage three and a single exhaust pipe. Love the bike.
Idk if anyone has mentioned this but you can go up to 14” bars with stock cables and wires for 14 and up roadglides.

I did 12 inch KST on my 20 road glide and luv them also did a stage 1 with 4.6 tab exhaust with zombie baffles
How did you like the exhaust? I bought a 21 Road glide and am waiting for the dealership to get my exhaust in.

You can go up to 13 inch bars without changing the lines on 2018 road glide special, I put 13s on mine with no issues
Getting one RGS and looking at handlebars. These 12" look good as per your review, which is much appreciated, do you lose reach when turning on slow speed maneuvers from either side depending on the turn?

Go with the Road Glide Ultra bars on your Road Glide, more pull back and better position and no hands becoming numb from reaching.
I have a 2019 SGS and im 5'9". I'm using a mustang seat whichh me up higher than the stock seat of course. What do you suggest for bars?
12 seems right for me. thanks for this. The sharp angles on those bars don't match any other part of the bike, so they really stand out. I'm thinking about a road king, though. What do you think? I mean, having my hands that high kinda defeats half the purpose of the fairing anyway, no?
If you don’t have the hi flo baffles I recommend it I put that on my 4 in Rinehart slip ons and love it

Yeah those sound great and perform well, those are just 4" standard baffle. Not my bike though, I ain't got road glide cheddar ha

Rinehart's are my 1st choice too.
I ride a VZ800 (M50), which I love. I also owned a Sportster 1200, which I also enjoyed (till I didn’t ). But, this is my next bike. The 2018 model is still awesome. I can’t afford the latest model but I feel like the 2018 model is still very good. What do you guys think? Does the 2018 have RDSS? Or is it just the ABS?

My '17 Road Glide has 14" bars and didn't habe to extend anything.
My 2000 road King doesn't have the longer cables for 12" . How many years will it take Harley to finally get it together ? It took Harley years to put a bigger tire than a 90 on a bike.

All the Harley Dealers by me tell me that you can only go up to 10inch apes before you have to then change cables. I have a 2018 road glide. Are you sure I can buy 12's? Which bars exactly are those please?

Paul yaffes run tall. I have yaffe 10's on my road glide and they are a like 11 1/2". They look like everybody else's 12's. Those bars are rolled forward a lot two.
Those are in fact Yaffe 12” Monkey bars. The Yaffe Bars run taller. They measure 14”. Just installed a pair on my ‘21 RGS and love them !! Fit and finish is awesome !!
Did you need to extend clutch cable with the 12s? I also have a 21 rgs and considering the prewired 12 yaffes

I’m reading on the forums that you can do a 14 in Yaffe bar without extending anything as well if you cut the zip ties. Did you need to do that for the 12? Any info would be appreciated.

yes they are most definitely 12's. As I mentioned in the video paul yaffe bars run a little big and that why the 12's dont always work on the street glide. I do like the factory 47 bars a lot too though. I knew a guy that had the 1 1/2 factory 47 bars on his road glide and they looked great.

Chris Penaranda get the 14 F47 bars. I’m 6 foot and they’re parallel with my shoulders if I have the bars pushed all the way up, I wish I had gotten 16s honestly.
@@kylemoore9626 You said you used stock lines with harness extensions? I've been looking at these for over a year now. When I watch the install video, they used pure stock wiring. I'm real close to ordering these for my 16 RGS. Why did you have to use harness extensions? I'm not super savvy here for forgive me if it's a stupid question.
Tom Davis the can bus wiring for the switch modules is shorter than the throttle by wire harness. I used extensions just to make it easier, you don’t need to use them but they don’t cost much and they make it a lot easier to get the job done

You can go to 14" bars without changing the cables. I just had 14" Factory 47 installed on a 2019 Road Glide Special last Sat. No new cables needed. Plus Cobra Neighbor Hater slip-ons.
Did you have to get a retune for the slip ons ?
@@dakotayoung3903you don't have to retune but it is better to remap becuase you will run lean. In my case I also got a Heavy Breather, that combined with the new slip-ons I am having my bike fuel system remapped until I reach 1,000 miles then it will get a full retune unless I decide to install new Head Pipes and then I would do a Dyno Tune.
You can actually put 14" apes on a Road Glide (Not Street Glide) is you take the tank off and re route the cables. On the Street Glide 14" can be done without cables but it is quite difficult.
I have a 2019 RGS. If I want to update from stock exhaust do I have to do anything else to the bike?

Jim Beam I have 12” Yaffe bars on my 18 Roadglide. Good height, much better hand angle compared to stock bars
And on Yaffe's website, they tell you that anything over 10" requires new hydraulic lines which they will gladly sell you.

I was thinking the same. They look like 14. Thought it might be my phone making it look like that. And I always heard that you can go up to 14in on road glide and road kings but only 12in on street glide's
Big D road glide you can do 14’s but road king has a connection that’s lower down the neck than the glide and for that sole reason you have to buy a wire extension kit. Those are definitely 14” bars.

Those have to be 14's. I just put a pair of 14" KST Renegades on my 2020 RGS and they look pretty much the same as in the video. ALSO, you can do 14" withOUT changing the electrical or the brake/clutch cables... the cables are a little tight but workable.
