Best scale 40K ever. Love the old epic scale Titans, Scout Titans and Knights. Wish there were more people and easier to find others. 02:47 hahahahaaaa!
I have always like it as I feel that you can really do those big battle like you hear in the black library books even more so for horus heresy 30k. Able to use company level at 30k and chapter at 40k
Getting to play around with titan-scale war machines sounds fun enough. And here you can do it without bringing a huge model that fills half of your table end.
This is my favorite way to play 40k. You can also play any regular edition with these if you are short on space or on a does trip. Also fun to play miniature space hulk as well.
@@afriendlycadian9857 i found a few but practically none that resemble the old aesthetic of nids from 2nd ed. A lot of them feel way too detailed for 6mm.
Good video, nice looking Imperial Fists force. I used to play a lot of Epic 2nd edition, however I think the game really excelled when Epic 40,000 (3rd edition) came out. It made the game a lot smoother. Hope you cover it in a video.
Epic is better because it better show the scale of 40k combat, + you get more room to be stratigic. 28mm 40k should be a skirmish game.(not a 6 foot table ram packed with models that give you the tactical abillty of a corridor.(soap box deactivated)

Early Rogue Trader and 2nd ed missions sometimes looks like they're intended on a skirmish scale, with a couple squads and maybe a single war machine involved during a shorter 4-5 rounds of combat. The shorter game makes it less of an attritional slog I guess.
Great to see some EPIC coverage as this would have to be too place with WHFB 4th and 5th ed as my favorite game systems of all time. The guy photographed in the booklet is Jervis Johnson FYI. I hope to see another game play video one day when the shit in the world settles down. Take care buddy :)
Always had fun playing Epic. Epic Armageddon was my jam though. Still have my Orks, and incomplete Space Marine and Eldar forces. One day they'll come out of the loft! I would recommend that people check out Epic - 6mm is so satisfying a scale to paint and model at. Nothing like legions of tanks and titans on the table. I never quite got the appeal of 40k Apocalypse as it seemed impossible for any kind of manoeuvre or combined arms as tables would never be big enough. Guess it was all about selling shiny toys!
I played a game today and it's pretty awesome, the game design is really well done and doesn't favor some factions/units over another. I was using the fan maintained free rules. The main barrier to it coming back, as far as I can tell, is that GW models are very expensive now more than they were before. Unlike its ugly young brother Apocalypse you can't just use your 40k models outside of a few proxies. This means everyone has to start from scratch to play it, which is probably why they have been pushing Aeronautica Imperialis and Adeptus Titanicus first; to test the waters for Epic and give people models they can use for any future Epic game system. While these games play better than 40k, the models are a bit more boring, they tend to be static and have fewer details so they don't look like a "supercool model must get". The other issue is that Epic 40k just has a very different rules set to 40k, so you're just starting there again too. Essentially GW models and terrain are great for painting and building, for hobbying in general, but they're not designed well for for actually playing the game. Without movement trays moving high model count units is cumbersome, some models are just too big to really play the game because they can't fit through terrain. Titans are impressive, and they are a nice addition to collections, but you will only play them in an Apocalypse game you'll only run them for an Apoc game you'll only play a few times a year. The terrain is the same story, it's brittle, it's unstable, it has a ton of dangly bits and chains, great for painting, not so much for playing.
Thanks for the long comment you made some great points there is something about the epic model that I just like and can't put my finger on it maybe its the memories.
I'm currently painting up my 1988 Adeptus Titanicus set. . . I played a few games and had actually forgotten just how amazing the rules are. . It really does come down to tactics and planning planning as to who wins the games rather than whoever has the newest codex like in 40k. . I just picked up the expansion rules for using Eldar Titans and Ork Gargants so searching around for inspiration. .
I feel like with the way current 40k is going epic is going to be more and more appealing. In a 2000 point 40k army there's so many models you can fit in, and GW has given new smaller sizes of table, you really do need a larger table to play games on for maneuvering strategy to make a difference. With epic of course you can have those larger battles without needing the larger table space. Also lots of people are looking towards the warhound titan and wishing they could have one and if they do have one they wish they could use it in games. Now that they're available through Adeptus Titanicus it's suddenly becoming a reality. I wonder if GW will put out more epic scale releases. Probably some, but I don't have high hopes for them making the 40k range avaliable in epic scale.
@@3dWargamer they probably would... I'm thinking about producing miniatures to sell myself, possibly for epic. I've got a guy who's pretty handy at virtual 3d sculpting. The thing is it's never going to be the same as having the official stuff from GW. (unless I'm willing to take a risk with GW's legal department)
Gods I miss Epic Space Marine! Such a great game. I still have something like 50.000pts. worth of Chaos army stashed somewhere, and I don't know anyone that still has an army, and a desire to play the game :-(
Epic is the game that really allows you to play actual battles. Nothing like seeing 12 Leman Russ tanks sweeping in battle against a cult of speed. I've always held that an entire 28mm 40K game is just the equivalent of one close combat in an Epic game.
Epic is such an under rated game, hard to find players in my area...the closest thing I have is playing Final Liberation on PC ! Love that game so much actually doing let's [lays on my channel. Wish I could play f2f though. Isn't your Thunderhawk missing the gun mounts? You had to stick the heavy bolters to the end of the wings? Am I just making that up in my head?
