best way if you prefer IG, 'nids, orks or any other faction that has strength in numbers :D . while not W40K, i've managed to print over 5K "groundpounders" already, and few hundred tanks for my display (no, im not wargaming, near impossible to find players in my neck of woods) for fraction of what it would cost if i'd buy them.
We've been playing with small scale minis like this for epic over the last 12 years from companies like Vanguard Minis, Onslaught Minis, Trolls under the Bridge, Troublemaker Games, etc. Now with high quality printing at home Wakes Emporium, Ankylo Minis, Brother Varus, and patrons like KillMeForPrizes are really filling in the gaps with their STLs. Good to see an up and up print house with commercial licenses from them now filling in for those without their own printers. The printing quality is fantastic.
I have to say the thing that makes me more interested in 6mm Epic Scale than 40k is the terrain. Having a full city or other setting that can be modular, look decent, and pop into a box is a lot easier with 6mm than having to permanently dedicate a full closet to the stuff!
Love it! I want to print entire armies at this scale to play wargames! The idea of actually being able to paint armies in half the time or less is just sooooo tempting!
my buddy and I did this while we were traveling in my RV. Played standard 9th edition games of 2k, on a tiny scale. Super fun! And made for quick games
One of the first things I'm planning to print (when I get one...) is a full plate of the Forest Dragon 10mm Warmaster minis. A full army in one go, takes pretty much no time to print, beautifully done sculpts, most of the rules for these systems are free and maintained by the community... It's a no brainer! If you want to play tiny versions of the larger scale games like 40k and Aos, by far the easiest way to do it is to cut all the inch measurements into centimeters. A battlefield the size of an A2 sheet is much easier to find space for than one the size of a dining table!
I had a dream last night, about a 6mm Kill Team box, with everything you need to play in one little box. This would be a Kill Team for travelers, intended to be played in the back seats of a car. The box contained 4 ready-to-play teams with a few pre-painted details with miniatures printed on plastic in different colors to help identify them: Marines in Blue, Knights in Grey, Hive Fleets in Red and Necrons in Orange. Also some mini structures and dice. The interesting thing is that the box served as a board when the internal part was unfolded, since each miniature had small sockets fixed under each mini to fix them on that board-box, this box-board had grid that allowed you to count squares, to avoid using mini-rulers. Now I think about what I had in my hands in the dream and I realize that I could have a box-board printed or glued on a metal box... and the minis could have small magnets. Winning in a more detailed box-board since it is not full of holes, it could still have a grid to be able to count squares when attacking and moving, anyway. Was very strong to myself to find in the afternoon with this video among the videos we recommend! Thanks for make it! What do you think of this idea? If the minis are now 6mm, how much would the 30x22 board be?
That's so cool! I've had the same thought about using magnets but for D&D. A magnetic white board would be awesome, then you can draw the encounters and move the models around. This could definitely work for Kill Team too, and I've been thinking about trying it for Warcry. I'll be making more videos in this scale and will give measurements for a 30x22 scaled down board and terrain.
@@tabletopskirmishgames May be 6mm don't be the better size to play... just play chess in this size, and don't be the best expirience. But, may be 10mm or 15mm... are agreat alternative to go and play a tounament far to home. All the hobbiest / artisans i know don't play... 'cause transporting minis and esenografy fall in a partiam destruction of the elements the half of the times. Then, what sense have do it all of thes if you don't go to play outside agains real peopel? Tabletopia don't count, it a videogame.
love it. I have 3D printed some Warmaster (10mm) Proxies lately for WHFB. I guess it boils down to me not being able to have 5-6 laaarge WHFB armies as a Teenager. And even now, older and earning a very fair buck, I cannot purchase, build and paint so many AoS (or even OOP WHFB) armies. So 10mm gives me the possibilities to re-live all those "wants" I had decades ago. Btw. the Lizardmen are Forest Dragon, right? I am a Patreon of him and those are awesome. Got them myself and used contrast paints as well. It is so much fun and not daunting at all.
Great vid. Mini minis seems to be gaining some traction recently! I literally placed my first order of 10mm minis earlier this week to try out Necropolis28 (although I guess I'll be playing Necropolis10!) and I'm really looking forward to seeing what they're like.
Still have all my 40k epic minis and take them along to my local games club quite often. Getting to charge 10 plus rhinos forwards to deploy marines ready for the incoming ork horde while titans, gargants and flyers are all clashing about and have that only be the centre of the table is something you will never really be able to do at 28/32 mm scale.
If memory serves me well, 28mm is best scaled to 11.2 mm to be as close to the original poerions as possible. Plus, swapping inches to CM is pretty easy for a micro 40k game. Brought a whole new meaning to kitchen table setup!
Can not wait for an old school epic fantasy and/or 40k army. I'm hoping the titanicus will eventually lead to this. Also the contrast paints seem perfect for this smaller scale too!
I want to start playing at smaller scales. Easier to print and more forgiving with simpler paint schemes. I also like having more space on the tabletop, as it give you more space to maneuver.
Epic WH is such a neat idea, I would like to see you play a turn of it and give your thoughts. My club is starting to get into 10mm, and I could not be any happier, cause I like printing/painting these little guys. I suggested a few Indy combined arms games because they seem to play better than major publishers. Like I want the feel of an epic war but the game needs to play as smooth and fast as a skirmish game. btw Check out Full Spectrum Dominance and Revelations. Revelations has a free army builder app as well. Lee when 3D Printer ? It would be awesome to see which 3d miniature lines you pick to proxy with.
I'm holding off on 3D printing for now, but am working to promote companies like Excellent Minis and other independent creators on Etsy. Got some more awesome minis to show off soon from.
34 years ago games workshop's warhammer was actually tiny, like the marines were 5mm and the only big figurines were the titans which were 20-30 meters tall. i'm trhying to find photos of that s....t game lol. i was like 10 and it was fiddly, because they were so small, you had to plug 25 marines into a square base like an after eight size and couldnt paint them because too small.
I saw something similar on Etsy the other day, Im trying to think of a way to translate the rules to use them in regular games but on a smaller scale. It's the measurements I'm struggling with, would be weird if this tint unit of guys can move 6 inches lol
@@tabletopskirmishgames would love 40k measurements. There is pocket 40k for 6mm and he gives all the templates and measurements but I would love having someone talk about it more and giving some visual feedback. His videos aren’t really that explanatory…
I never thought about how the modern improvements in sculpt details could make the old 6mm epic scale look better, wow they look great
It is amazing how well detailed they are
The older I get the more appealing small scale minis are. I love the idea of having massive games that have a tiny footprint. Great video
I'll definitely be looking at a couple of large mini armies in the future. Thanks!

I love the little tau
Amazing how much detail they have
I had the best time playing 40k epic. It gave an impression of how a battle could be fought on a larger scale.
I didn't play when that was available, but I love this scale.

You could easily do a whole large army in a weekend. Excellent Minis sell them printed but you can also get the stl files from them.

Really impressed with them, made this easier than I thought. Thanks for watching!
OMFG!!!!!! I have been trying to find something like this!! I love epic 40k!! Thank you Lee!!
Hey nice one, Alex! Glad this came along at the right time for you, thanks for watching.
Great video mate. I used to play epic space marine years ago. I really enjoyed the small scale.
Thanks, Neil! It's fun to see the models scaled down like this. Going to try out mini Warcry next!
Don't let GW see this ... soon they are going to say that to combat the cost of production we now get smaller mini's for the same price 😂
More likely they’ll try to shut the 3D printing community down 😡
🤣
How about Kill Team at a small scale. Thanks for your videos

Great vid and loved the mini’s
Nice one thank you!
6mm is a little TOO small. Upscale to 8mm and it's a nice sweet spot... also fits better with titanicus stuff that's not as readily printable.
Only thing I don't like about the Excellent prints are so many damn supports to clip off.
There is quite a lot, but I liked that they are fully built once the clean up is finished.

🤣
I can barely see well enough to paint 28mm. Nice models tho.
It was fun to paint a different scale, and easier than I thought.

What? Who sells the minis with supports? The minis are sent without supports, the service from that company is terrible.
This company does not sell anything for 40k only fantasy stuff
They do sell minis for 40k, but the majority are for Fantasy. In the video I painted Tau and Nurgle models that are for Warhammer 40k.
Under what rubric on their website then? I didnt find it?
