Watching this battle report 8 years later and this is i think the best Epic battle report i ever saw! :)
Epic was one of the best games GW ever made in my opinion. Sad it was always so hard to get folks into it.
3d printing is a 'god send' for those that love the game ..

A couple of things:
Aircraft does not remove BM:s until activated (of fail to activate in subsequent turns)
Supporting fire in assaults (like the titan in support of the devs assaulting the sentinels) are rolled after both sides in the assault have rolled their hits. If a formation is wiped out then no supporting units may participate in the assault.
Thunderhawks can't intercept other aircraft i think. They are War Engines only units with AirCraft status may intercept.
Intercepting gives you +1 on all attacks against other AirCrafts.
Suppression is counted from the back of formations so your Vanquisher would not get to fire with the unit having even just 1 blast marker.

+Daniel Bäckefelt You are spot on. I'm torn with intense regret of the "I wish I had a time-travel machine" variety that I didn't buy into Epic in 2002. The fact is I didn't know about it then, because it was nowhere to be seen in any of the GW stores in London that I visited.
The Space Wolves really do seem to have an issue with taking orders.
Epic is very much the way that 40k should be played. :)
I missed playing this game so much I dug up my old armies from storage, started showing my kids how to play and they are having fun! Definitely need more Epic Armageddon Battle Reports.
Could you do a series on how to play Epic Armageddon as there are a lot of people may be interested in getting into it now that the new Titans Will be coming out soon
Great to see Epic played :). One rules note is that Bombers can't perform an Interception order, so the T'hawk can't take out the T'Bolts on it's own activation. If it landed it would get it's ground flak shots. Air is probably the one weak area of Epic A.
Also the Birthday rule only applies to turn one for initiative, after that ties means the player that didn't win last turn wins this turn.
My gf really like simple ruleset games, I showed her this batrep and she loved. We'll try playing it later
Nice game, i like the fact that there are multiple missions in play at the same time. Imagine if Warhammer fantasy was decided by breaking half of the enemy units, holding some objectives and holding an objective in the enemy deployment zone. Add in killing the enemy commander and suddenly you have a very interesting game where you need all sorts of different capabilities and deathstar units are not very useful.
We should try it WHFB 8.5 ...

Great stuff! (even though i play the epic 40k version of the rules, i think that's 3rd edition)
although it needed revising especially with titans, i feel space marine 2nd edition was based around bigger battles than epic 40 000 systems.
lets be honest titans and multiples tank type vehicles are ridiculous in game with 40 k scale, the tables are far to small for maneuvering and engaging at range. this was whole point of space marine/epic, to have a system designed around large scale battles of movement, combat and communication (morale/command rules).

I honestly think if GW decided to rework epic into a 15mm scale it would drag so many more players in. As the minis would be a good afoordable cost, look amazing detail wise at that scale and still be to get big sized games.
Maybe some rule tweaks here and there for to reflect the scale changes and its a winner.
This was an awesome battle report. Epic 40k looks like a great system, hope I get to play it one day!
so, i`m was digging some about wh and stuff, cuz i`m more like into historical, but as the wh community is the biggest, i tought i could take a look. honestly, the "regular games" have an amazing story, you have a lot of fluff that is really cool, but the gameplay itself looks like a bunch of minis standing still, except when assaulting, and bucketloads of dice rolling, with shitloads of shooting and nothing happening. But this looks amazing! love it not being "i go u go" and the supression rules, also the size seems to give you better moving and flanking and stuff. really enjoyed this!
My god I hope they make titanicus into the new epic. I actualy don't understand why they just didn't do epic, it has it all :D

Ash, the rumor is that if/when re-released...GW will make Epic 10mm. The thinking is that it would make the old models, and more importantly, 3rd party models, incompatible.
Any ideas on this? Think that is truth?
+TheJankmaster I think it's some shit people are making up so that they can pre-emptively be unhappy with whatever GW does.
Besides, Epic scale has ALWAYS been all over the place. It's 'supposed' to be 6mm but in reality it varies wildly by period, model and design.
My answer is that it doesn't matter what GW does. The people that want to hate them and be miserable will no matter what, even if the new models grant three wishes and shit gold.

This was great! I sadly missed the whole epic train whay back cause I was a kiddo back then and only had 40k as an interest. So it's really enjoyable to watch you two play this.
Do the scale of (old) aeronautica imperialis and epic really line up? Those cockpits appear to be rather large next to the tanks.
Those models are adorable! Much like with Battlefleet Gothic there is just something about big things made tiny.

Ive been printing epic at 12mm instead of 6mm the models are incredible and the scale is perfect
You can see why they've scaled it up a little for adeptus titanicus... these look just a little bit difficult to manage/move around. hehe

They have 1+ Initiative rating. So unless they have blast markers -1 or are trying to retain the initiative st -2 they never fail an initiative roll :)
