    Arizona Blonde video :
    • I jinxed it ~ She actu...
    After doing some Google'ing.. WET MOLTS!
    After all that happened, I’ve come to a conclusion that the deaths after molts were because of wet molt. I may be wrong, but that’s my conclusion for now. All of the sources I’ve come across say that it’s unavoidable, as it can happen randomly to any tarantula.. which is super sad and worrying. If you’ve been following all of the videos, you may realize that I’ve lost quite a few tarantulas the same way - After molting. Now I’m just really hoping it doesn’t happen again.

    Tom Moran has spoken a few times about having some of his T's die right after molting and for him it was a substrate issue, I highly suggest you look into your substrate mix. This seemed to happen more to you after you changed up your sub.

    There is something in the place where you leave them, many of your spiders are dying, maybe there is too much humidity, or too little, or the temperature itself, but it is a problem in the place.Maybe it's a good idea, you talk to a biologist specialized in this area, maybe even take him to that place, and show him, it might help.

    I was thinking the same cuz the molt was fine, it wasn't stuck, but I wonder if there's something that affects them whilst the new 'skin' is hardening, maybe a glue or something, even something in the air as it only seems to affect the newly molted ones... Clean the a/c perhaps maybe there's a build up of some sort in the filter? Or someone near by is spraying chemicals...

  • @jonathanresendiz8212

    Check for any weird mold or mildew growing in the room or the house ,Check for any unknown mushrooms in any tank and remove them carefully with a good air mask on cause if can kill your T's it could affect you too , and the last thing I can think of is Check for stuff like spores or mold in your dirt mixtures especially if you add ANYTHING frome outside or Check the quality of what you are feeding them Check your roaches monitor how many are dying or if they exhibit any weird movements or behavior and replace the colony other than that it could just be really bad luck

  • @AnythingForSouls

    only things i can think off is if there was a temperature decrease after the molt so she struggled to harden up or she just didnt have the energy after it because the molt looks clean nothing seems stuck unless something happened like she molted got spooked and bolted and it caused some internal damage but it is very odd.

    If they are eating too much calcium ( feeders have too much calcium) it can lead to the Tarantula's death right after molt. It only happens with a small amount of Ts . Sorry for your loss.

    • @Lolzzz483

  • @ottertank8845
    @ottertank8845 ปีที่แล้ว +48

    This may be a stretch, but I see that you've been using chemicals to get rid of ants and cockroaches in your place. If any of them were covered in the chemicals it's possible they could've carried the chemicals to the tarantula room. Since it's usually happening after they molt, it might not be the case, but you never know. Definitely suggest using sticky traps instead for your pest problems.

    • @jamesortega2340
      @jamesortega2340 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He tried a sticky trap at first, but that trap did absolutely nothing.

    • @sillyface6950
      @sillyface6950 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I suggest that nobody ever use any forms of sticky traps. They catch more than just harmful creatures and are simply completely inhumane in my opinion.
      For rodents there is loads of better traps, make sure its the right size, and for insects there is natural deterrents or a special chalk that will kill them if they contact it.

Are you using a product like reptisafe for your water source or are you using tap water? If you are using a topical or spray flea treatment for any mammals it can get everywhere in their hair/dander and cause sudden death in inverts appearing randomly.

The shop said maybe chems in/on food or water. (No real way to know, but i do know the tap water here is awful).
    I didnt have the enclosure too wet or dry…he was actually doing the mating dance several days after molt… his fangs looked very good… It did get down to 74*F in my apartment during that week but i didnt think that was too cold? Idk either man.

    So sorry for your losses I don't think it was due to anything that you have done, I can understand why you are rackin your brains for a cause. You luv your animals and its only natural to be hurt when they pass but plzzz dont blame yourself ..

    Does it have to do anything with their food? I don't know much about parasites that could still be passed after the host was eaten by a tarantula, if your cockroaches are parasite free, every single one of them, then idk what other explication could be, they don't eat in pre-mult (can't type and you taught me that) so I think it could be a previous meal that may had something

    In the other chains i watch the soil dont look this dry , they spray a look of water with a spraying bottle
    Personnally i think molting is really a risky for a spider , they probably need the perfect air , humidity condition
    Im not a specialist , just my opinion

    Were those Ts near the ant poison ? Could there be something it the water ? I would suggest using bottled water for a little while, and see what happens.

    Odd idea, but what time of the year they molted? Maybe the change in season of when they molt there is a difference in humidity/warmth/overall weather? We had a turtle that would go in wintersleep every year, but as we changed houses with more insulation, he suddenly started wintersleep early authem and woke up late winter, dying shortly after. I have no idea how 'rare' it is that tarantulas in the wild die because of molting, say nature did its thing and on avarage its 1 of 5, the odds can be against your favor.

    The only thing I can honestly think is that you are just getting really unlucky and they are getting stuck in their molds and dying, no real reason it just happens as you've shown on the channel before but sometimes they can get fully stuck in the old mold and can't get out. Hope this stops soon, good luck Mr. Lair and sorry that this is happening to you.

      When you have a lot of female tarantulas, by luck and chance this type of thing can happen more.

      It's not mold, which is a spore. The correct word for shedding of a skin is called "molt".

      "molt" and she wasn't stuck in her molt she got out crawled into her burrow and died. That absolutely do get stuck in their molts but this was not the case here

    The most common problem during molting is for the spider to get stuck inside the old carapace. Most of the time it's just a small part of the body that is stuck, but sometimes the spider actually can become trapped inside the old carapace, which leads to a slow death that might be why or the substrate or the heat.

    It could be the humidity or the temperature or both.

    I JUST had this issue with my Goliath Birdeater juvenile/sling and my LSD Earth Tiger. They were great, but recently molted and died shortly after. There was water and I didn’t change the care or substrate. I used to never have issues with my T’s passing away unless they were mature males, until this past year. It was super weird. They would just not eat after the molt even though the molt went fine and they died a few days later. Still not sure what caused it, but upped the moisture in my enclosures slightly, so hopefully that fixes it. I’m so sorry about your T :-(

    These things are sent to test you. It's a learning curve you did all you could, hoping that a beautiful healthy girl would be waiting for the post molt dinner. Not this time next time though will be good.

    Maybe have a spider specialist( like a vet) come take a look at your room and enclosures.
