Sharksucker wants to hang with me (on me?)- 5.17.24 Haystacks dive site Key West

Just a small part of a very interesting first time experience for me. Dive buddy Jim and I had this sharksucker remora follow us for more than 10 minutes. It just kept circling and then trying to get under us. It was tough trying to maintain a heading back to the boat and try to get it on video underneath me.
Backing up my memories for the inevitable future when I lose them.

Why do they do that? Must of been awfully frustrating,cant wait for longer video 😊❤

They often attach themselves to turtles, sharks, big rays for both protection and I think they get bits of food that comes off whatever their host is feeding on. I've never seen one this big in person. This one was at least 2 feet long.
