The homestead is much larger than your prior residence. You have room to space your garlic out a bit more than you have it now. That can prevent the rust or fungus type problems by having more aeration and sunshine. The onions in the barrels also look crowded. The fish will love shade from the tree if you plan to place it near the pond too. Yes some colourful shrubs ahead of the fence and cistern will be great.
