Lilly wasn't oblivious to anything. Pretty obvious that Mr. Wriggles was in partial or full possession of her the whole time. Everything she said sounded like the demon masquerading as a little girl.
Oh good observation. That makes sense now that you say it because Lily never seemed to be 100% present, nor did she seem like she wanted to be there, but the spirit had an agenda.
@michaelb.42112 when June wants to cut the show short right before the demon comes out full force lilly asks her not to so "everyone can know the truth".. but it's obvious Lilly doesn't want that, June does, and she's being manipulated. Since there's no reason for lilly to do that otherwise one can conclude that its the demon wanting her to continue so it can have its big finale
I think you’re right, this theory would make what happened to the medium make way more sense. Why would he have hemorrhaged and died like that if the demon hadn’t already gotten to him?? And how could the demon have gotten to him if he wasn’t manifested yet??

It's funny cuz I always felt that kinda energy surrounding them too... especially the ones that aired in the 80s and early early 90s... I remember living in a city called rialto in California... And we had a public access studio/ building that was in our cities industrial/ commerce part of the city ... And id always make a note of it . Then I'd watch the WALLY GEORGE SHOW on a channel called KDOC... And the wally George show was WILLDDDD... It was like the Morton downey jr. Show and jerry Springer before those shows were a thing . And he'd do stuff like this all the time and bring Satanist and just odd people on to debate religious groups ... And because Wally was conservative he'd always end up yelling at the people opposing religion and the studio would always turn into chaos. It wasn't necessarily scary to me as a kid... It was just ODD. I was way too young to understand the parodic kinda dark humor of the show...and the fact it was all a SHOW and that wally was a character acting. So yea like I said it was always a little off putting whenever id think of it... Anyways the show was taped at a public access studio called KDOC.. and the logo would always be on display in the corner during the show..and because id always pass that one public access studio we had in our city on our way to get on the freeway Everytime we'd have to leave out of town somewhere.. KNOWING THAT BUILDING WAS THERE would always spook me too...cuz to me it was synonymous with all the confusion imagery the show would put in my 7/8 year old brain. And ya... So to add on to your thought OP.. I definitely always felt the same way
Oh and I will say this....they did their homework with that Demonic Cult part. Reminded me of the footage of The (actual) Church of Satan (Anton LeVey's church) hat has been broadcast many times .... Also, some of the clips give me "Faces of Death" (one of my favorite movie series)
It felt exactly like Faces Of Death, you’re spot on.. I still have the VHS tape, with the box cover too. Along with Dawn Of The Dead VHS tape.. I found my old blockbuster card as well..
This movie was so captivating, got irl cult history . The team did amazing on nailing the atmosphere. Such a mysterious doom u can’t turn away from. It’s a cult classic now

I think someone should put this on the television with a group of friends, and not tell them that this wasn't just a old pre-recording of some night show. Have them watch it, and have them being freaking out what they're seeing, not knowing that this was supposed to be this scary on purpose cuz it wasn't in fact a night show.
Not sure if it's an age thing, I'm 50, a lot of my friends are my age or mid 50s, and we all loved it. It was a basic spooky story, not over the top and not trying to be something it's not. It stays in its lane. All the cast were spot on and the production well thought out... Harking back to the 70s/early 80s. By contrast my younger friends, they thought it was boring and expected more.
It had a good run at the beginning, during the latter part, everything jumped off the window. It could've been much better, but we get what we get. Still a good popcorn movie.
I enjoyed this movie! I didn't necessarily find it scary, but it was an entertaining watch and I appreciate the unique stylistic choices and storytelling. I'd rather a horror movie attempt to do something different and out of the box, and I'd take that over another boring generic jump-scare movie any day!
Never heard of this movie so I watched it before watching this. This was a good f*ckin movie. I like the way it was delivered, and there wasn't 30 thousand jump scares. I'm definitely recommending this one to a few people.
Personally, I thought that the very end scene indicated that Jack knew how to perform the hypnosis himself - albeit perhaps he lost control of it? We only hear it one other time with Carmichael. It makes me wonder - was his agenda to use the same hypnosis trick that Carmichael showed, but on a bigger scale? Perhaps mastery of that power was what he gained from the Tall Trees, but just couldn't use it effectively. Imagine if he used that skill to help kill his wife and pass it off as cancer, all in hopes of using the tragedy for ratings?
I just watched this movie then you make this video. Great timing. It was a change in horror style movies. I guess he got what he wanted in the end but only for 1 episode
My friend Shaun just showed me this movie about a month ago. I’m glad I watched thru the slow build up. The end made it worth it. It’s a little before my time, but, it was pretty good. I especially liked the freakiness of where she turned into an electric monster and the very end that showed what actually happened…..but I won’t spoil that part.
This is the very first I've heard of this flic ! Man , Ive got to get out more , cos this looks right up my alley , and would have been great in a theater ! I was a mid-teen at end of 70's and can vouch for the vibe and look of the show . That "full-Abraxas" looked too cool . 😮 Gotta go .... and find this .
Other then David..there where many child actors after the Excorst like ... Linda Blair as Regan..who tried to ... replicate possession movies Ingrid Torelli who played Lilly was the MVP of the film ...needs great recognition as well! Even before she was she went full on possessed ..When she came out on stage...She made many feel on edge all through her unforgettable performance!!!
Late Night with the Devil is one of the most innovative, masterfully crafted films I’ve seen. A gem of superb casting, excellent writing, inspired directing, editing, cinematography, costume-design, pacing, etc. A gem that truly stands out in this awful current era of script by committee, worthless hackery and derivative sloth. A masterclass. Late Night transcends its genre. The only film I’ve seen in recent times to even entertain, an admittedly subjective, comparison is No One Will Save You. The kind of film that requires more than one viewing to fully appreciate. Cheers.

no he is not... bot
@@mikescorpio13yes he is lol
@@Dravianpn02 nope he is just another ordinary extras nothing more.
@@mikescorpio13 I must be confused, which character does this person play? I thought he was the lead lol. I don't remember his name honestly. At the time I commenter it sounded like it was o.o it was lazy on my part.
Giving the name *"Lilly"* to the girl who winds up possessed by a demon is so blatantly on the nose, my face hurts.
it’s better than “Lucy”
@@KrazyJojo4594
Lol. Fair point.
Why
@@pokeman123451
Lucy = *Lucifer*
Lilly = *Lillith*
Was waiting for this. Great movie, mix of analog & body horror. Probably the best horror movie of the year.
I thought this was an absolutely terrific film. Scary and captivating without excess gore for gore's sake.
One thing I really liked about this movie is that it made me feel very uneasy and made me fear that the evil might crossover through the screen. It made me feel that I am in danger along with the characters of the movie, something I have never felt before from any other horror movie.
Gonna save this video for later, because I HAVE to see this movie. Idk how I haven’t heard of this until now 🤯
Edit: okay, 3 months later I finally watched it 🤙 pretty gnarly film. I see people say this was a “breath of fresh air” and that is exactly what it is. Very creative and well done, plus I’m a sucker for analog horror. This is an instant classic
It’s on you tube now for free.
Why would you watch an entire breakdown of a film before you watch it?
Latenight shows are truly a dystopian nightmare reality
2:25 not me hearng sponsors and automatically skipping ahead
Watching this while i wait for the cabinet of curiosities video :D
Congrats on reaching 1mil subscribers, I’ve been watching your videos off and on for years now
This movie was so captivating, got irl cult history . The team did amazing on nailing the atmosphere. Such a mysterious doom u can’t turn away from. It’s a cult classic now
Only found you fairly recently but I've been really enjoying your content the way you break things down and put them across is really pro. Great stuff man
This movie was ... Wow. I was really excited for it before it came out and man did it deliver. This movie gave me a very visceral feeling of terror... The suspense was fabulous... The ending was fabulous. Definitely in my opinion a top tier movie.
6:00 Thank you! You're the first content creator (that I know of) that made this connection between The Grove and real life Bohemian Grove (who's members include many, MANY famous and influential men (supposedly) including Hollywood actors, former Presidents and politicians.
I think someone should put this on the television with a group of friends, and not tell them that this wasn't just a old pre-recording of some night show. Have them watch it, and have them being freaking out what they're seeing, not knowing that this was supposed to be this scary on purpose cuz it wasn't in fact a night show.
I hope no one has friends dumb enough to believe that.
Dump it on to a VHS tape..then just pop it in
This was a great movie. Had me glued to the tv screen until it was over
SAME HERE !!!!
Already clicked like before the video started. Thanks for all you do sir
Great movie, love David dasmalcean. I remember seeing in in the dark knight. Now seen so many movies with him. Great actor and a rising star
Best horror movie since terrifer .... Didn't expect it to be a great movie!!
What are you yapping about? The second half is when the film gets better. Did you even notice any of the ghosts in the background throughout the film?
It definitely went downhill fast the weird unzipping of the girls head made it feel so corny.
The bad effects towards the end really stood out
@@wileyreid5420it’s supposed to be corny 😂
@@thearmchairjournalist566 that doesn't make it good though
I think they shoud make more vhs style movies , we need more retro type media
You missed the demon's hand on Jack's shoulder 😊
Good video though, you caught other things that I didn't.
Loved this. I miss "short" videos like this 😅
I enjoyed this movie!
This movie finished and I felt like something was missing. I did enjoy it but it felt incomplete to me lol.
Glad you covered this one
Personally, I thought that the very end scene indicated that Jack knew how to perform the hypnosis himself - albeit perhaps he lost control of it?
We only hear it one other time with Carmichael. It makes me wonder - was his agenda to use the same hypnosis trick that Carmichael showed, but on a bigger scale? Perhaps mastery of that power was what he gained from the Tall Trees, but just couldn't use it effectively. Imagine if he used that skill to help kill his wife and pass it off as cancer, all in hopes of using the tragedy for ratings?
i love that they chose the name Lily.......... im certain its short for Lilith.
very cool movie and nice twist on the found footage film. david does a fantastic job, he really shines playing these wierd troubled characters.
Gotta go .... and find this .
0:18 whoa is that the dude who played Polka-Dot Man in Suicide Squad 2?
JFC it wasn't suicide squad 2.... It was "The Suicide Squad", not to be confused with the pile of shit "$uicide Squad"
Dave Daschmalcin
Yes
Any man also
Ngl, this is what late night shows should be...entertaining
I really enjoyed this film.
I remember 1977 and it is a masterpiece of brining that time back again
Love how they kept showing the wife in everything. I only noticed the one on the back of lilys head. Just a cool little detail
Love these break downs of the movies you do
Horror is a genre that needs way less volume. This movie used horror in an authentic way.
Cheers.
One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time
I love to hear michael ironside's voice. I'm a big fan of Splinter Cell series since 2004
Definitely keep an eye on these directors
The only part that actually spooked me was big face Lily. That was just freaky. Also i didnt know it showed up during the seance until seeing this video, so now im even more disturbed that i didnt notice the first time.
This movie was so simple, but so great. Definitely worth the subscription I pay to Shudder.
3:23 is no one gonna mention just how fly David D. Got for this interview??
Love it - back to your roots 👌
I noticed a few of your older videos aren’t on your channel anymore, have you cleaned up and removed old videos or am I incorrect?
I thought of the skeleton Man to be the devil as well, but then I thought of it to be death haunting Jack and ready to claim Abraxas sacrifice.
I watched this at around 2:AM alone in the dark in a camper in the woods. When they did the freezeframe playback I could barely watch the screen.
The cymbals used on that drumset weren't produced until the 80s lmao got em!!
I have to watch this. They got the vibe 100%.
It ,, IMO was PERFECT !! BEYOND AMAZING THROWBACK FEELING !!! I'm beyond BEYOND IMPRESSED !!; 😃😁🤗
Masterful is always my friend I honestly couldn't describe the movie better myself
I really loved this one, something finally coming out for horror❤
This was mine and my girlfriends second movie date and so awesome. Ill always love this one lol
RIP James Randi. The obvious inspiration for the skeptic and his confrontations with Uri Geller
Edit: I'm glad he mentioned it in the video.
I'm torn about this movie. They did a great job of recreating the setting and establishing the premise, but I feel there was so much that they could have expanded on but left unrealized. I left the theater thinking, "That could have been great, BUT...". Amazing work by Dastmalchian and the entire cast, but I feel like too much was left to wither on the vine for it to be the classic everybody is calling it.
