Tightlining is a godsend makeup technique for people with hooded or droopy eyes. I use Sephora 12h colorful eye pencil to tightline and it stays all day. Once it sets, it doesn't smudge as well. And it's really cheap even without a sale.
I just wipe it dry with a clean finger and don't blink before I get the color on there. It does help to keep it from transferring to the lower waterline. ❤

Alex, this video completely changed how I tightline. The GXVE eyeliner is amazing. I tried Clinique's and Urban Decay's tightlining pencils. Both flake horribly. You are the best!
DUUUUUDE I feel so powerful right now, like, I have NEVER been able to fill my waterline without transfer, and setting the liner there just seemed like asking for trouble from my already sensitive eyes. My favorite waterproof drugstore liner is Wet N Wild “breakup proof.” The one in the packaging where it’s a self sharpening and you twist it up. Don’t confuse it with the liquid!! It BURNS
Alex... Shiseido has this liner with the absolute tiniest little tip. Like smaller than the little brow pencils. It's so super creamy and absolutely budge proof! You might check it out...

I watch a lot of makeup videos just for fun and less for tips because I often find tips and tricks don't work for me and I can find my own best way to work with my face. But THIS is the singular makeup tip that has been most helpful every single time I do my eye makeup now.
Dude. This should have occurred to me. Apparently, I needed it pointed out. Thanks so much. As someone with thick dark lashes most of my life, enhancing them has become a necessity in my 50s. I've been going straight in, but transfer has been an issue. I will look into this pencil, but I've heard good things about Melt and Marc Jacobs' pencils too.
This is amazing! I've tried this so many times just straight in with the pencil and I just end up pressing my lashes down or clump them together with a thick amount of product. This is much better
WOW! I tried this this morning! I watched this last night, so I tried it this AM, I used UD 24/7 waterproof/ long lasting eye liner pencil & a flat defining brush from Luxie. THANK YOU! This trick/technique worked so well! My liner didn’t run at all, even thru a full day of work, and hot humid summer weather! Amazing technique! Thank you so much for sharing!
The only eye pencil that I have found I can tight-line with without transfer (and without going over it with eyeshadow in hopes it would stay longer) is the Il Makiage long-wear intense pigment waterproof eye pencil ($22). Tight-lined with it one day and realized it had not smudged AT ALL to my waterline or bottom lashes and thought maybe it was a fluke. So I tested it out again, for a full day and a full evening out dancing and sure enough, it did not budge or transfer to my waterline. Creamy texture, intense color and long-lasting! Definitely recommend that one!💛

The Sephora retractable waterproof eyeliner in shade 10 matte brown/black is my go to. I tight line my upper waterline every time I wear makeup as my lids are tilted so it’s exposed. I just swipe it straight on. I rarely have transfer. Maybe on a particularly windy day but it has lasted me through weddings no problem

I didn’t think I actually needed to know about this because I usually apply my pencil eyeliner on the inside lid part, which tickles and definitely took some time to get used to…. Milani makes amazing liners (Stay Put 16 hour, waterproof) that don't transfer and are so smooth. At 10 bucks each and less with Ulta points or sales, I got all the colors. Love them!

Wet n wild 99 cent sharpened ones are great. The browns are perfect for us fair skinned older ladies. No transfer on me even with the black and I've never found another that won't since Urban Decay's original.
Really?! I grabbed the brown one a few months ago just to try it and it was awful. So hard and very little pigment. My Miss A eyeliners are $1 and so much better. But I'm not saying you're lying or wrong. Super cheap drug store makeup (esp. Wet & Wild and elf) are so unpredictable in quality. I am sure it has to do with inconsistency in warehouse conditions, handling during transport, and product "age". Wooden pencil liners dry up faster (which is why gel liners often have that plastic casing that's hard to sharpen.) 😢 Less quality control but at least it's cheap!
Yes. That sucks to hear. I do think they vary. I used to use a Smashbox that was perfect, but the two I tried after never worked again. The cheap brown one is the only pencil that stays in mine. None that are supposed to do. I'm sorry it's not working for you. I totally get it.

Great tip!! Before I tight line I use a cotton swab and dry the tight line then add liner. It stays so much longer

Maybelline tattoo studio gel liner is great and doesn’t transfer much. NYX epic liner pencil is pretty bomb too

Tight lining with a brush is a supper innovative idea. Brushes also would go better with gel liners I think.
