Connor getting rizzed up by the half British host was like first hand experience lesson, he interacted with the host, the host then went out of his way to go back to Connor and make more conversation, and suddenly they were talking about going to go get more drinks later lmao. He taught Connor how to be a host by being a host towards him!
@@datlam7836i genuinely wonder this too lol it seemed like the guy actually wanted to hang out and felt relatable since he’s half british. i kinda hope connor kept up after and spent time with the guy!
Damn Connor is really attractive without trying. Doesn't work out much, doesn't care about fashion, doesn't even try to give off confident chad aura, but somehow he's just hot?!
This is SO accurate. Its giving charming British guy who's friend invited him to a college party, but he showed up too overdressed and meets the hosts cute shy/nerdy best friend hiding away while everyone else gets drunk 🤣🤣
The fact that a lot of host clubs' customers also work as a hostess or some form of sex work is really interesting to touch upon. It's pretty common for women to pick up these kind of jobs, not because they want to, but because it helps them afford lavish spending for host clubs. It's pretty sad, tbh.
Maybe it's the other way around? The income hostesses get from SW leaves them longing for genuine relationships or connections, but it's difficult to do that. So, they look for the next best thing, which is some kind of human connection at the host club?
@@kaideng2571 They can relate to each other. Even if it is financial. That's better than going on a date with a civilian guy where you have to explain what you do/get judged.
It might be sad to you, but ultimately they just want companionship and generally these women are able to support themselves perfectly fine. Why is it a problem if they both enjoy it and can support themselves? If they're happy, who cares.
My friend used to be a host, and he’s a pretty empathetic guy. Working in the clubs destroyed his self esteem and his relationship with women. He doesn’t date at all anymore. He can’t turn off host mode and it turned him into a caring robot.
Already I love the vibes of this host and Connor WAYYYY more than the last vid. You can tell Reito likes Connor and wants to make him feel comfortable. It's also so cool to see how much better Connor's Japanese has gotten. Like he can actually converse somewhat now which is SO COOL
Definitely agree. The first one was not great. Not like the video. His videos are always great. But the experience he had. It truly felt like they were mocking him constantly and not caring. This one is significantly better. The fact they are asking if he's ok, etc, is great. I know he probably thinks it's better because he understands Japanese more now but... You can see the difference in how he's treated.
Its very competitive in the host industry so not surprised that Connor was treated badly in the 1st video. The other hosts in the 1st video must be thinking what was this foreigner doing here in the 1st place.
@@SpyroShurtagul Basically in the first video they said, "This guy doesn't know any Japanese, and is awkwardly out of place, so his only value to us right now is garbage disposal for the excess alcohol we can't consume." In this video, the hosts were much more respectful to him and offered a great experience. They probably saw the value in good publicity and getting a wider audience through Connor's channel, especially since they thrive on their social media presence.
What I appreciated is that Reito didn't shy away from the realities of his job like some do. He's like "Yeah it's a little problematic but it's my job regardless. It's not all bad, it can be fun even, but I won't lie and say it's perfect."
Yeah, I liked how fun everything seemed, but seeing the clients devote their literal life for a "romance experience" is incredibly sad. Not to mention the amount of alcohol the hosts have to drink.
I think he's way too critical. It's really nothing different than a strip club. People go there knowing that they're going to be spending money and they want to throw money at someone.
@@FoulUnderworldCreature Not so sure, after all, I never heard of someone spending all their salary (and more) on the same stripper/prostitute for more than two years. As far as drink prices I thought it was way more expensive the night club I work at has similar pricing for the average drinks. However the top shelf stuff is nowhere near 130k lol.
You say you werent sure how to end the video but i think your last comments tied it up perfectly. Everything presented on camera is exciting and flashy but the reality of the situation can be seen as depressing or dark. I like that even though what you’re doing with this video is advertising for their host club, you made thoughtful comments on this area of their culture. This made it a really entertaining and insightful video, and another reason to get a jojo suit.

I know you weren't sure why they were asking if you were doing ok, but i truly think it was because they were looking out for you unlike that other place. This guy that asked you to join seems incredibly kind, and perhaps he saw your first video and wanted to share a better host life with you :)

He’s much more comfortable it seems, which is great! This video was overall a win and an improvement on the old one, and it would be interesting to possibly see more exploration of Japanese nightlife from other creators like CDawg, though given I haven’t watched this kind of content in many many years (used to watch this kind of stuff a lot in high school) so maybe there are videos like that now though.
if most of the patrons work in nightlife, its like a system that almost feeds itself. the patrons spends money on the host, the hosts spends money some of their money on other night life or going on dates with their patrons, its like a perpetual machine that just moves money back and forth. also that jojo suit is the 2nd best wingman after kaho.
Connor without the beard actually looks like someone in his early 20s and the beard adds at least 10 to 15 years. Kind of crazy how much a beard can change a face.
Welp, it's quite common with men. With a beard I already look younger than my real age but without it I literally look like a student who has not yet been broken by the reality of life even though I'm in my thirties.
For me in my early 20's it was like with a beard I looked like a grizzled lumberjack in his late 30's but without I looked like a pretty handsome lady.
Great video, CDawg! It's entertaining as usual and it's fun seeing baby faced Connor. However, what I really appreciated was the honest insight at the end of the video. Keep up the amazing videos and also love seeing Kaho guest appearances.
I’ve seen Connor without his beard so much over the years but this is the first time he got his hair styled and it complete transformed him! He looks amazing. Also, I appreciate the amount of interactions with the other hosts and customers, I loved everyone in the video.
Yeah I had to rewind that part because I did not expect such glamorous alcohol beverage to be from Latvia, we're pretty much poor as fuck even the ones considered wealthy would struggle in other big EU countries with Latvian income.
Without the language barrier, he’d be good at it. A lot of the successful folks in that industry are just really good yappers as long as you maintain a baseline amount of looks.
iirc, in the last video connor made, it was mentioned that hosts would regularly throw up the alcohol they drank so they wouldn't get drunk. It probably still isnt good for the'r esophagus but it might still let their livers last a little bit longer
yeah, more so than the amount of money the patrons pay (it's their money they can do what they want with it) it sickens me to think of the hosts wrecking their bodies so that the club can make more money (let's be real most that money isn't going to the actual hosts). But with a healthier system like just paying for the amount of time there's only so much people would be willing to pay upfront if it isn't obfuscated like that so that's probably why they do it.
i mean functionally they use the same tactics to get loyalty from their customers, esp because spending too much time in these clubs naturally isolates you socially from the outside world.
@@SOOKIE42069 not only that they have a history of having their customers to pay their debt to use their body there is an entire prostitutions strip because of host clubs.
Connor’s ending analysis was good. Not trashing on a system that exists but outlining some of the flaws of host clubs being a quick bandage to a larger issue
I’d say that’s the only way he could have ended it. I’m sure if we asked him personally he’d be a LOT more opinionated about it. But as it stands, he doesn’t want to trash these people that have given him a good time and invited him in the first place. The reality is that Host Clubs, like casinos and other vices are symptoms of society. They would be okay if they were taken in moderation, but that never seems to be the case. Like most problems in life, it’s easier to just walk away and pretend these problems don’t exist :( but at least Connor could address it professionally.
Wow, what a character development! Very impressive to see how naturally you could engage and converse with everyone compared to the original video. That's really cool!
Connor's "my Japanese is terrible" in this video is testament to learning, living and earning in a foreign language and culture. Once you've got the basics including how to use honorifics, the rest of it is picking up vocab, grammar and the writing system if it's a non-Latin based writing system (depending if your native writing system is Latin-based).
@@rogerramjetox142pa Yeah, it's a lot easier to pick up a foreign language, especially one with a different writing system, if you live in that environment. I also studied Japanese for a couple years and lived in Tokyo for a year, but since coming back to my home country, a lot of that skill has gone down the drain because I'm not forced to use it 😅 Connor's also very good at going out and talking to the locals despite not being fluent, and that's a great way to get better!
Your confidence has increased massively since the first host club video, I didn't have to feel as sorry for you being put on the spot cuz you handled it so well this time
I figured out that what is weird about the missing beard is that we are just not used to seeing his lips 😂😂😂 that plus the different hair is just surreal he looks like a different person!
@@mcnaughahaha like it or hate it, the lack of beard means his lips stand out more just due to contrast between his lip color and his skin color, since his skin is paler than his hair color.
Okee but we need to talk about the glow up that Connor went through. This video compared to the last host club video you can tell/see how much more comfortable he is talking to the customers and how well he keeps a conversation going. Also you can tell how much more confident he got in talking Japanese. Honestly, that is so impressive. Such a great video.
It's actually insane how handsome he looks. I think the beard is detrimental and not doing him any favors because I have forgotten that he's actually attractive. This video was a reminder that under the scruff, there was a reason why he was the 93%.
Im glad that you pointed out the problematic aspects of the host clubs a bit at the end of the video. I see more and more TH-camrs jumping on the "host club hype" without educating their viewers what a problematic concept this actually is. Of course you cannot bash the host club scene when they invite you over and treat you nicely but I think it is really noble of you to give your two cents to it a little bit still.
I think one of the reasons Connor is more comfortable with this now is that he's lived in Japan and contributed to the society for years now, giving jobs, promoting the country, etc. If you listed to new Trash Taste episodes and watch videos like this, it feels to me like he seems himself finally at the stage where he can critique aspects of the culture from a place of understanding. And to be honest, a place of understanding is the best place to critique a culture from!
Not particularly foreign to be honest, is it really any different then Twitch chat "Ooooh look who gave a donation, hey! let me read what you asked, and pretend to spend some attention towards you because I care about you!"
@@Demented_Space that IS what it was! I just thought 'Snape? No, could not be' but his younger version certainly comes close enough to remind one of him. Thanks :>
The video was such a great watch and then the end really sobered me up to the reality that is host clubs. Its good that you tackled such a topic in a serious yet also very informative manner. It also reminds me, as we all well know, you have such a great narrative voice mr dawg.

@@dannyg.4421 I'm a girl, so seeing me kiss my sister wasn't on their radar so immediately and directly, so that amount of up-front of sexual harassment wasn't exactly how it went for me. Mostly just telling us we should cosplay with them and LARP the Host Club as funny little skit after letting me know that twincest was totally good and neat and their favorite thing. I was not going to do that. My sister was not going to do that. We already got weird "let's have a threesome" sorts of comments from random highschool dudes, and then the lady weeb friends were trying to stealth it out of us for their proxy incest yaoi fix. People are still weird about twins, but at least now Oran Highschool Host Club isn't the hottest anime around to rub off on several demographics of the socially maladjusted.

Literally like.. why am I feeling like this
give him some tattoos and he can be in a band fr
Emo vampire
Idk why ppl hating the clean shave look he’s rocking it lowkey
Connor without any facial hair looks like Loid from Spy Family if Loid was a rookie spy on his first day on the job
lmao i dont watch spy x family but thats what i thought too
So true!
Yeah the bangs down and parted in the middle hairstyle is a classic in Japan.
That’s really funny
This video is great Connor. I was barely able to watch the first one because I found it hard. But I love the experience you were able to have here.
Daam I'm from Latvia and jesus christ the vodka is expensive. First time seeing. Keep making great and awesome videos Connor!
Yeah I had to rewind that part because I did not expect such glamorous alcohol beverage to be from Latvia, we're pretty much poor as fuck even the ones considered wealthy would struggle in other big EU countries with Latvian income.
We need a trilogy of Conner being a host at a host club I think him being a full host by himself would be a interesting video
A one day pop up host club. Attract all the Gajin hunters.
I think he likes it to
Without the language barrier, he’d be good at it.
A lot of the successful folks in that industry are just really good yappers as long as you maintain a baseline amount of looks.
he can start his own host pub! And man & women are accepted as customers!
Agreed
The host that knew English seemed so sweet and i hope he and Connor can be friends outside the club!
Would be difficult, with all those dates he's going on.
@@kristoffer8609also Connor’s life is probably busy too with his TH-cam career.
I thought so too. At the very least I hope they went for drinks after
@@NorwegianNoLife lol your username. It's funny to see another Norwegian with no life here.
Maybe after a while, maybe invite him on a certain podcast??
Oh no, not again...
Hosts must get liver failure early in life LOL.
tbf, he's improved a lot. he's much more natural now.
not if they drink tea 😂 reito's smart
iirc, in the last video connor made, it was mentioned that hosts would regularly throw up the alcohol they drank so they wouldn't get drunk. It probably still isnt good for the'r esophagus but it might still let their livers last a little bit longer
That’s why you get your kouhai to drink them for you
yeah, more so than the amount of money the patrons pay (it's their money they can do what they want with it) it sickens me to think of the hosts wrecking their bodies so that the club can make more money (let's be real most that money isn't going to the actual hosts). But with a healthier system like just paying for the amount of time there's only so much people would be willing to pay upfront if it isn't obfuscated like that so that's probably why they do it.
Watching this while in a really low mood was actually a great idea, ive been giggling lots and im not even 10 mins in
Hairstyle is giving Dwight from the office 😭😭😭
"I think I've joined a cult."
Low-key how Host Clubs feel sometimes lol
i mean functionally they use the same tactics to get loyalty from their customers, esp because spending too much time in these clubs naturally isolates you socially from the outside world.
@@SOOKIE42069 not only that they have a history of having their customers to pay their debt to use their body there is an entire prostitutions strip because of host clubs.
Yea they exploit people, manipulate them to give them money and stay loyal.
basically a fandom
The progression of Connor's Japanese is really highlighted when you compare this video to the previous one, he's gotten so much more comfortable!!
Fr, he makes a few mistakes here and there but the way he is able to hold conversations is insane progress.
Dude he actually looks good clean shaven, rare sighting.
Most people look better without pubes on their face.
Yeah I’m really surprised, I didn’t think he’d look good but he actually does! 😵💫
I wish he did this look way more often.
oooo bro, im so proud of you! you have grown in every way, language etc
oh my god, i remember watching the host club video four years back! feels nostalgic hehe
Like most problems in life, it’s easier to just walk away and pretend these problems don’t exist :(
but at least Connor could address it professionally.
18:48 Conner got involved in the host system, come into the club, get a drink with the guys, go on a date afterwards
sheesh connor looks soooo fire here. I really love the hair haha. He seems like an actor, can't quite remember who, but looks or vibes similarly
Robin lord Taylor, who plays oswald cobblepot in the tv series Gotham.
Looks like a young Alan Rickman at times 😂
@powdergate Damn man you really hate Gotham huh 💀
Giving me Peso Pluma’s new haircut vibes
David Tewlis aka Remus Lupin from Harry Potter
I watched the host video from the channel you shouted out before this video and it gave me a whole new perspective finding this.
This video turns out to be better than I thought! The host, customers and atmosphere were such a vibe compared to the last video. Way to go Connor✊🏻
A video on both main channel and second channel at the same instant is crazy
Like a Dragon: Welsh Yakuza Substory, that's it, just had to say it
Connor as a Stardust host would be funny as hell
We even got a real estate reference

Your confidence has increased massively since the first host club video, I didn't have to feel as sorry for you being put on the spot cuz you handled it so well this time
The way you look 10x younger i love the shave 👏👏👏
23:53 you forgot to link the video
26:20 This speech was SUPER NECESSARY
I figured out that what is weird about the missing beard is that we are just not used to seeing his lips 😂😂😂 that plus the different hair is just surreal he looks like a different person!
I don’t think that’s it. His lips are ones of his best features. I’m always checking them out. 😂
@@mcnaugha Gayge
@@mcnaughahaha like it or hate it, the lack of beard means his lips stand out more just due to contrast between his lip color and his skin color, since his skin is paler than his hair color.
HOLY SGIT HE LOOKS SO GOOD WITH THAT HAIRCUT WHATT
Connor literally going to IRL Stardust and meeting Yuya,. he's even in Kamurocho as well.
08:09 That was a lot of honesty. I like this dude.
Okee but we need to talk about the glow up that Connor went through. This video compared to the last host club video you can tell/see how much more comfortable he is talking to the customers and how well he keeps a conversation going. Also you can tell how much more confident he got in talking Japanese. Honestly, that is so impressive. Such a great video.
the straight bangs r a vibe that im willing to see him do again
Connor being given the mic every time is hilarious lmaoo
I mean "The Great Happines Space" is a movie from 2006 so.
Loved the video !!!
Love that u brought up the previous host club video essay!! I love that video a lot too before watching this 🎉
STOP CAUSE WHY DO I THINK CONNOR LOOKS FINE IN THIS VID 😭
Feeling like the 93% again, he does look amazing here.
HE DOES LOOK GOOD
It's actually insane how handsome he looks. I think the beard is detrimental and not doing him any favors because I have forgotten that he's actually attractive. This video was a reminder that under the scruff, there was a reason why he was the 93%.
@@bigclown3419 honestly i like him with the beard too i always found him attractive but never said anything 😭😭
BRO IM GLAD IM NOT THE INLY ONE THINKING HE’S ATTRACTIVE LMAOOO 😭
@@Fs3iTruly a pot calling the kettle black moment for Connor, the welsh.
I liked this video a lot more than the older one! You seemed much more confident and I liked that the hosts were friendlier!
I truly loved how cdawg kept it very blunt at the end of the video.
that makeover was and intentional sabotage, to kill off competition early!

@@Demented_Space that IS what it was! I just thought 'Snape? No, could not be' but his younger version certainly comes close enough to remind one of him. Thanks :>
@@Demented_Spaceoh yeah, you’re right!!!
The video was such a great watch and then the end really sobered me up to the reality that is host clubs. Its good that you tackled such a topic in a serious yet also very informative manner. It also reminds me, as we all well know, you have such a great narrative voice mr dawg.
High school Host club was so influential they made it into a real thing!
I was the president of my high school anime club after school with my twin, most people there were atoku girls. You can imagine why I really begun to dislike that anime. Lol
@@dannyg.4421 I and my identical twin lost friends to that show. "Hey, best friend, let me spread the gospel of twincest; you see-- _wait, where are you going, best friend with an identical twin?_ You just don't understand the BOND BETWEEN THESE TWINS IT'S ERROTIC!" I didn't even hate the show, I thought it was fun. _But the twin thing got the fandom in a twist and I had to suffer for it._
@@YourWaywardDestiny yeah they would try to bribe us or plead for us to do things. like they suggested that they would kiss each other if we did. they were shameless. lol ofcourse we always told them no but i wasnt socially equipped enough to know how to make them stop asking. during that time yaoi a big thing for them, so they were already very comfortable with the subject too. i wonder if it still is.
@@YourWaywardDestiny i feel like me and you have a specific core memory only a few had to deal with. lol
i laughed at your comment about several demographics of the socially maladjusted. reminds me of the time glomping was a thing and i would just be talking to someone in a hallway before getting tackled randomly by some one else making uwu nyaa sounds.
When I clicked on the video and saw you with no beard my first reaction was thinking it was the older video, good thing you clarified it
