As soon as I saw the New Balance dad shoes I knew this man was a professional and he knows what he’s doing. Now we just need a grilling video. Level the lawn and cook for the family.
@@PrincessCutLawnCare My guess is Traeger, they’re heavy marketers. I have my favorites but I’m a total grilling snob. Enjoy the journey and soon enough you’ll have more grills than mowers!
Legit. Like the advice for us average weekend Warriors that don’t have tons of fancy tools to make our yards look perfect. Just the basics to get a respectable look. Thanks!
Just used this same rake to level my lawn. I was surprised at how well it worked. My lawn looked like the grand canyon and now it resembles a semi decent lawn. I'll for sure have to perfect it next year.
One other thing about the gorilla cart…they have a 600 lb. capacity so anytime you need to move anything heavy (like bags of sand, dirt, sod rolls, bricks, pavers, etc.) from the car or around the yard they’re super handy. Also great camp/beach wagons. Worth owning.
Not naming names, but when you see someone get PGA quality sand, a sand spreader, one of those fancy aerators and a buddy to help be your assistant, you’re just doing lawn porn. I’d rather get real world tips that work for real people.
I have a level lawn tool but never the motivation to get tons and tons of sand delivered. Now I can spend $30, make a quick mix and do some spot leveling here and there over several weekends when I’m feeling it. Nice video, thanks!
At first i was skeptical about this guy and his ability…..then i saw the new balance shoes….im now a subscriber and have simce purchased my own pair. Great info, great video lol
Nice to see a sand leveling video that doesn't involve a giant dump truck full of USGA spec sand. The only place I could find with it near me says they require a minimum of 10 cubic yards. There's probably some landscaping supply places around with adequate sand though. I just read an article about golf courses using a mix of 80% sand and 20% mushroom soil or peat moss. Mushroom soil/compost sounds like great stuff, since it's weed free and has some organic matter and water retention properties. Looks like my local Lowe's has some 1 cu ft bags for about $4.50, doesn't sound too expensive to try it out in some areas.

I use dirt from landscaping bushes to fix the dips in my yard. I get it as fine as I can, then spread it over the low spots. I smooth it with a broom afterwards. After about a week, the grass fills back in. 🐀🐾
Thank you so much for this fantastic and helpful video! I just wanted to respectfully mention that peat extraction releases substantial CO2, a greenhouse gas, contributing to climate change. Peatlands provide incredible benefits to the planet but are under threat due to over-production. For this reason, most European countries are slowly banning peat products. We should, too, and someone in your position could make a big difference by advocating for that! There are plenty of non-peat alternatives that work almost as well as peat-based products. The more people that use and ask for non-peat ones, the greater the commercial incentive to improve them further. Thanks for reading and hopefully considering this!
Hey Vince! You finally got the new place? Awesome dude! Gotta love those trips to HD haha Anytime I’m tryna get out out of the house I just tell the wife I’m goin to Home Depot lol
Lovely video.. I moved in last year and the builder gave me a yard full of uneven terrain. My mower literally dances on the ground when I cut the grass. Yeah, just finished my first ever sand leveling. And BY FAR the best tool was the Gorilla Cart - well not exactly that brand 'cause where I live I can't find it, but a cheap chinese copy. Still worked OK. I cannot imagine myself using a regular wheelbarrow for this!
Currently top dressing my lawn for the 1st time. Leveling rake was good for spreading so I've been using a leaf rake to get the grass back up. Wish I saw this video before & grabbed the broom, that looks way easier!!
Thanks for this videos. It motivated me to start doing some " leveling". I did modified the mixture. I'm using one bag of medium sand and two of play sand, ⅔ of the potting soil. I also added some topsoil that I had left from another project along with some worm castings. I'm leveling deeper spots, my lawn is far from where I want it to be to use mostly sand.

Feral hogs tore up my yard and the ravines and divots and ginormous ruts they left are godawful...can't walk thru the yard without breaking your ankle...and it's even super difficult to ride the mower thru it! Going to fill them in using your suggestions. Thank you!
love the video and the production. Your content for the lawn is great and between you and a few other great TH-camrs, my lawn is looking better than ever. Though as a Michigander, I had to laugh at the Menards jingle right as you were walking into Homedepot 😂
i did mine with soil one time and it was hardest project ever. I hear that leveling with sand is a yearly thing - that is expensive! If ever level with sand, i'll do one small area by my patio for guests to walk on.
the good thing about buying bags is you can level slowly over time and see how you like it, but i must warn you the results are addicting and you will find your self doing it all the time haha and yes soil is no bueno, you can mix a lil bit in but you really need that sand base
OHh yay! I just ordered the same landscape rake yesterday for my levelling plan. I also have a leveling rake but I watched your past videos and decided to get this landscape rake to spread soil easier. Then I saw this video 😄 made me smile haha I already have Gorilla cart, it's awesome! Good to know about the sand which can be used for lawn. This video is great.
@Princess Cut Lawn Care yes. I know that Spring is not really recommended to do a big lawn work, but I will try and learn. can't stand with my very bumpy lawn, especially since I started using elec reel mower. 😵💫
@Princess Cut Lawn Care I use Allet Liberty43. I was gradually lowering the HOC (w/ gas mower > manual reel mower > elec reel mower). I should have done a full reno first, though.
I love this video! My yard seriously needs to be leveled. We've lived here over two years. Old owners had an above ground pool that was removed when the house was flipped. Now there's a giant divot in the back yard! Probably looking at raising 400sqft about a foot. At least.
Thanks dan! that will be a lot of material, much more than you can get at home depot. Heres a formula to calculate how much fill you need : 1 and half Cubic Yards Soil = Half Inch covering 1k sqft
I respect you northern guys. Seeing your lawn barely growing this late in the year would kill me . 6 weeks of dormancy kills me already. Granted I mow 2-3 times a week but I've already gotten in over 20 mows this year . Great content though bro. Wish I could find the medium sand here in Florida
Thank you for this video. I saw another video, which was great and they were promoting a tool that cost $150. While I think the tool is probably amazing and an exceptional quality, gas is 6 bucks right now and I just don't have a 150 bucks. This video was really really helpful, thank you so much.
I appreciate all of this information. I can’t do the work myself, but I like knowing which time of year is the right time to hire someone to perform various treatments for my lawn, and I often like to buy the materials myself and hire college kids to do the jobs. (I think it’s unfortunate that trolls feel the need to leave snide comments. I suppose bullies never leave the playground or their granny’s basement.) 😊
Did a test in college with different soils for an AG class. Miracle gro soil, in a 10x10 plot of soil, produced 80% more weeds then the next planting medium.
@@TH-camuser1aa just buy coco coir, clean manure, and medium sand for a lesser chance of weeds and the same basic mix. 1/6coco,1/6manure,2/3 sand. Or 1/4,1/4,1/2.
I was actually thinking of doing this a little bit ago!!! I did a test with just 1 bag. I spread that bag in my 30$ scotts spreader very easily! Took me 2 mins...I'm thinking of just putting down 50 bags over the course of a growing season.

the good thing about buying bags is you can level slowly over time and see how you like it, but i must warn you the results are addicting and you will find your self doing it all the time haha and yes soil is no bueno, you can mix a lil bit in but you really need that sand base
Best videos on TH-cam. Educationally simple**
thank you sir!
Thanks for the tip on the broom and the gorilla cart.
No problem Dan, thank you for watching
Bro you got a banger on your hands! Without the powder coating!
lol your a goof witt!
Followed your advice. Leveled my lawn this morning
sweet dude, howd it go??
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Under estimated the amount I needed, looks good! Thanks for the info video!
@@brooklynboy4224 Awesome dude! its a lot of work but soooo worth it
I am a girl and I was gonna wing it and go to home depot! thank God i found your video! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
OHh yay! I just ordered the same landscape rake yesterday for my levelling plan. I also have a leveling rake but I watched your past videos and decided to get this landscape rake to spread soil easier. Then I saw this video 😄 made me smile haha
I already have Gorilla cart, it's awesome!
Good to know about the sand which can be used for lawn.
This video is great.
Awesome my friend! sounds like you have all the tools for success!
Do you plan on starting this spring?
@Princess Cut Lawn Care yes. I know that Spring is not really recommended to do a big lawn work, but I will try and learn. can't stand with my very bumpy lawn, especially since I started using elec reel mower. 😵💫
nice! did you get the sun joe??
@Princess Cut Lawn Care I use Allet Liberty43. I was gradually lowering the HOC (w/ gas mower > manual reel mower > elec reel mower). I should have done a full reno first, though.
@@shion_lwn thats alright, it takes time but in the end its worth it
Stellar - video saved. I'm going to use this method to level some areas in my lawn.
Appreciate it! good luck!
Those New Balances at The Home Depot picking up stuff for the lawn.
Putting off some big yard dad energy.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
had to get a fresh pair of 624s to start the season proper! Lets go!
Glad you're making videos again!
Haha thanks lance! Finally got out of winter hibernation 😂
I'm new at this, I'm trying to expand my lawn knowledge. Thank you. I have a lot of questions and you've answered most
I love this video!
Wish I could find the medium sand here in Florida
wow now thats a true lawn care nut right there!
Welcome back to some good weather !
Thanks bro!
Great diy video man!
You got it!
you can sometimes get sand cheap at landscape places you can fill up 5-gallon buckets for a couple dollars.
nice tip!
Actually bought one last seasons and did some spot leveling and it worked really good!
Awesome! what exactly did you buy? the gorilla cart?
Oh my bad I was taking about the Rack. Lol
Thank you for this video. I saw another video, which was great and they were promoting a tool that cost $150. While I think the tool is probably amazing and an exceptional quality, gas is 6 bucks right now and I just don't have a 150 bucks. This video was really really helpful, thank you so much.
I just watch because because the new balance shoes lol, my yard looking better little by little thanks sir
lol great to hear!
Nice to see you are back at it George! I really wish they started selling that gorilla cart in Sweden.....
Thanks sam! you guys git some pretty cool tools out there as well! we dont have your fancy gardena tools here either lol
Miracle gro soil, in a 10x10 plot of soil, produced 80% more weeds then the next planting medium.
i believe it! i used soil the first time i leveled my lawn and it was a disaster come the next spring, never again!
So what should you use?
@@TH-camuser1aa just buy coco coir, clean manure, and medium sand for a lesser chance of weeds and the same basic mix. 1/6coco,1/6manure,2/3 sand. Or 1/4,1/4,1/2.
@@brandonvierra8177 sounds like an excellect mix
Welcome back George! Great video to start off the 2022 lawn season!
Thank you sir 👍
I’m a new homeowner and so glad I found you
I was actually thinking of doing this a little bit ago!!! I did a test with just 1 bag. I spread that bag in my 30$ scotts spreader very easily! Took me 2 mins...I'm thinking of just putting down 50 bags over the course of a growing season.
awesome jason i always wondered if spreading sand in a spreader was possible, thanks for sharing!
Great to see you back.
Thanks buddy! appreciate that, you as well
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Hey George good to see you back! Its been a while since you last posted a vid, was concern for a bit.
Hey boss! no worries!
Snow finally just melted here, its been a long winter season haha
but im back ready to get things started😀
This is exactly the video I was looking for, thanks! Also, I dig the gold knife.
haha thanks bro
