- I was lucky enough to receive the Star Wars Shatterpoint box ahead of its release and oh boy was it everything I needed. The box is jam packed with stuff and from what I've seen the rules look fun but what I needed was a nice, relaxing miniature painting project, and that's exactly what I got.

Really nice video! Great intro! Had me laughing... The ONLY thing I could say is that your wrap up and final models on the painting desk doesn't have enough lighting!!! Your Maul looks way darker than on the close up when you were painting him and for anyone that jumps to the end, they might miss out on the great work you put into his face and head!

Love this video Josh. It's a game that has so much draw from tapping into successful rulesets and one of the best franchises ever. Super tempted and this vid may have convinced me.
Im really glad this came out!! I was in a tough place being a huge SW fan, thinking of getting into Legion. I just didnt want to pick up another wargame on top of 40k and AoS. So this game is the perfect solution for me! Not only being a skirmish game but to have such detailed and larger models, these will be fantastic display models. I hope they go all out with the range, grabbing characters and troops from all across SW legends. With the far lower price demand Im getting all of these! I may still end up getting into Legion but now I can make a better decision on what I would like to collect which now may just be a Phase II Clone Coruscant guard army
This is exactly where I'm at. I love 40k and AoS as big army games, but not in love with warcry or KT and love star wars. I'd never get to do Legion (I don't need another army game), but picked this game up as a nice hobby project. I already know I'm picking up loads of the future kits like the inquisitors or Mando and Child or the crew of the ghost.
@Corbin Govers yes! I'm really glad AMG decided to put several other factions up for pre-order, too. So now people won't be locked into just the starter box, which seems to be selling out like hot cakes. I'm really hoping for a KotoR expansion! If I get Revan and Malak, my life will be complete, haha
Beautiful paintjobs on these and they look such a joy to paint. I think this could be a new game to try out. Thanks for the vid Josh. The intro rocked more than an Ironman opening scene.
Fluorescent Posca paint pens would work well for the lightsabers, they are bright as funk. I dump the paint out of the pens into dropper bottles so they can be painted on. The paint jobs look awesome, really nice work dude! The bigger scale seems like a nice addition as I hate having to use magnification to paint.
I've got some fluro paint from scale 75 which could have worked too I guess but the tip on those pens is great, thanks for the heads up. Yeah they hit that sweet spot scale wise of being just that little bit bigger but not too big.
@@ThePickleJar if you get the Posca pens the end screws off clockwise rather than anti-clockwise :) I use them for tons of colours as they dry really matt and are really bright. yeah they look like they've found a nice balance with the scale, very cool.

Nice intro! I don't care if you move the camera or not if you get to enjoy painting. Heard there will be a Luke, Leah & Han set with Leah dressed as bounty hunter. Hopefully she has alt head without helmet. That would be an awesome set!!!

Sat out on Legion because of the stupid amount of white minis I'd end up having to paint eventually or tan or something boring. This, THIS, is what I was waiting for. A few minis and done and playing. Fingers crossed for Republic Commandos (of the game fame).
That was SUCH an under appreciated game! Would love to see some miniatures for them!
Totally the same reason I slapped my money down for it! Larger scale for easier painting. Smaller teams for quicker prep time and short snappy games!

I’m kinda tempted to start painting again. But realize I don’t like painting all over again… but its Star Wars and the models are bigger so its easier to paint… But… lol dilemma 🤣

I don't generally do gaming stuff but from what I've read of the rulebook it looks like it'll be fun so I think it could be on the cards :)

looks cool but it suck that maul comes with droids and not death watch considering its him from clone wars, maybe they will add that later as an option, i have no idea how the game works but it does look cool and the idea of a smaller scale starwars game is appealing
He does come with the Death Watch, I just wanted to paint the droids haha. The droids go with Ventris.

Great vid - really tempted by Shatterpoint, bur waiting on a little more info before i commit.
Love the idea of a skirmish scale Star Wars game, but i dont understand why they would split their customer base by having this at a different scale to Legion.
Makes it much harder to convert players from one game to the other.
Also, rarely comment but need to poke the algorithm thingy to signal boost for the wargames hobby TH-cam.
I think they changed scale to stop you using legion figures. With a licenced game there is only so many kits they can make that they think will sell enough volume to make it worth it for them. In Legion how many other models could they release and expect a good number of people to buy them? But if they do this new game at a new scale, now you are buying Darth maul again, or droids again, or clones again etc.
Would you guess they are about 38-40mm?

Yeah it's 40mm. Such a joy to paint. I've got other things I should be working on but I've found myself just carrying on with Shatterpoint haha

Im loving the look of the models but the gameplay, meh. 4-6 tables to resolve any attack is just a lot, and im an infinity player, so its not a problem with complexity.
Looks great, game looks really good too but I think I'm too in hobby debt to Legion and MCP to get into this too until there's a sale. The one thing about painting these though, and I've experienced this in MCP too, is the hero stuff I feel far less free to paint in some non-official style. Legion for whatever reason feels more freeing , for me at least, to come up with a wild theme for your troops, have unique variations for each squad, and even have the hero units partially or entirely in that scheme too. I'm sure it's probably the scale and that the hero units are part of the game instead of the entire focus.

hahahaha no that wasn't me unfortunately, though it was my original plan. Just didn't have time to do it justice.
It's a shame AMG don't seem to care much about the other Star Wars games they are in charge of now. They really screwed X-Wings rules and points up, X-Wing & Armada haven't had actual new ships in ages, and I don't like the odds of them supporting Legion much longer. They just wanted to make a Star Wars Crisis Protocol kind of game because that seems to be the only sort of game they want to make... And the $330 NZD price point for the starter means I probably won't be trying it anytime soon unless someone I know picks it up.
It’s interesting to see different perspectives on this! I think Shatterpoint looks like a lot of fun, but I’m skipping it due to the scale. I like to use minis for multiple things, and the large scale means the Shatterpoint minis won’t mix with anything else I own
This is exactly my view on this as well. I have hundreds of 28mm Heroic scale minis across genres and manufacturers. If I play something like Stargrave or an RPG I want consistently-sized options.
I also just bought a whole lot of Legion minis xp
