I bought the G466 just like that one. As Joe mentioned, I replaced the tensioner right out of the box, and since the recoil handles are known problems, tossed an OEM on. Ran a couple tanks of 25:1 and then leaned back to 32:1... then adjusted the carb - really livened it up.
I don't make a living with my saw, $1500 for a 76cc just doesn't fit the budget. $320 got me in the game, and I fully plan to use it as an educational tool as much as a saw.

I used AM cylinders to learn how to do port work back in the mid 2000's when Baileys started selling the big bore kits. Did a couple, got gains, but not near as much as I could get from an OEM cylinder. They did serve a great purpose of being a cheap cylinder to practice grinding on.

Found one in a box in pieces for $750 and I picked up a G288 for $400 delivered to my door. I only use it for big stumps and milling. Does the trick. Cheers

I’d like to see the numbers once the blue saw is broke in. My g466 seemed to pull much better after 4 or 5 tanks run through it. I have a couple big trees that had to come down and I didn’t see the reason to spend the money on an oem saw that I wont use much. I haven’t had any issues so far with it but Ive only run about 10 tanks of fuel through it.

I have the Holzfforma G372 Husky clone and it’s my go-to saw. Took awhile to get the carb dialed in and the chain tensioner is not the greatest. I had a Husky bar and chain lying around and got this saw already assembled for like 180 bucks with free delivery. Wish I’d gotten two. Don’t worry though. I have a Stihl 461 as a backup.

Nice comparison Joe! I look forward to seeing what you build out of the G466. I own a pair of 046 Artic saws that my Dad logged with since new , I have put alot of hours on them since 2010, I would have to say that if one were to find a low hour 046 and maintain it well it would probably last their lifetime, and go up in value too, something to consider when comparing price. From the first MS460 with flippy caps to the current crop of Stihl pro saws with flippy caps that I own and cut timber with there has been a 100% guarantee: They have all leaked! Both the gas and oil. I wish Stihl would revise these, no matter how diligent I am with cleaning them out every day they have rewarded me with a leak. I have had Zero issues with the caps on my Husqvarna saws....

Hey Joe, I've had my g466 for two years. I totally notice that once after initial carb tune and about 4-5 tanks then retune one the carb the saw seemed to run like a beast and maybe an old saw thats been way broke in against one not is not really a good test. Not that I'm partial to the clone as I would grab a standard stihl any day of the week. However I would like to see the dyno test after the clone was broken in and at least 4-5 tanks and a tune on the carb after would give a better result and see how it compares. BTW Thanks for the video- lil late in seeing it but again it will give some one better judgment to understand dynamics of power in a saw.

Those saws are like the harbor freight of saws

I wonder if the clone if tuned and broken in well would have power closer to the Stihl? Also I think if I was the average homeowner I would definitely save the extra couple hundred and get the blue thunder instead of a poulan or craftsman.

How do you find engine rebuild for this model g444?

I have a G444 clone and a Stihl 462 c-m. Do I like the Stihl better? Of course. After the G444 broke in, and the carburetor was adjusted properly, it pulls hard. Is it as good as a Stihl 044? I don’t know. Never ran one. Hate to admit it, but they are a great value for the weekend warrior who cuts firewood.

Have a jonsred 920 that I think is a 5 cubic inch saw that will run a 40 inch bar faster than a 660 or 066

On the flippy caps, after 15 years I've not had a problem with em. Easier to operate I'd suggest.

Cool video! Would you be interested in testing power differences in mix ratios? 50-1, 40-1, 32-1? I currently mix 32-1 in 87. I used to mix 50-1 in 91

@@dynojoemods2764 I agree! My intuition says a little more oil will reduce friction, and leans out the tune a touch, resulting in a bit more power. I could be totally wrong but it sure feels like 32-1 runs better than 50.

@@dynojoemods2764 a guy on youtube did that test and finds that 50 to one is best for engine temperature. Dyno joe do you have a video where you use the dyno to tune carb with it? Appreciate it you could provide.

@@lumbearjack1439more oil also creates a better seal on the rings and less blowby of the combustion energy, it does however cause more heat soak of the hot combustion gases into the engine but at the same time gives more lubrication so it's probably still a positive. I know I typically was told by Husqvarna techs that 50:1 was for the EPA and 40:1 was for the engine. 36:1 might be good for a higher rpm ported saw but isn't really needed for 95% of builds in the real world.
