When Ukraine run out of manpower, the war is over. And now they are losing a lot of men in Kursk that could be helping the Donbass front. Those soldiers there need rotation. If you don't have enough troops to rotate them, they will fall. Notixe that russia is not rushing to expell them from Kursk. They are building defensive lines very far in the rear. They know that it's easy to fight the Ukrainians when they don't have fortress to hide from artillery and bombs.

Ukraine was known as the Ukrainian SSR. So Kursk Oblast was Russian soil, as well as Soviet soil, in the same way that Orange County is California soil and US soil.

Yeah, that will be the interesting question. I assumed this was just a large scale raid, too. But if they intend to hold it, they must have reasonable assumption to be able to do so, including logistics considerations. So it will be interesting to see how, and whether, Russia can respond there. Because if they fail to indeed push Ukraine out within a month, that would be pretty embarrassing, given the supposed power imbalance of the war.

They have to start by having any weaponry, first. Once their armies are back in order, equipped and modernized, we can see about getting more domestic military industry going.

Wich has two prepared fortified defensive lines, and a river. If you are thinking of Myrbhorad, that are still 15km from the strategically important HUB of Toretsk. Both will be as bloody as Bahkmut/Adiivia. The question is if russia has both manpower and equipment to continue at the same pace. At a certain point they will not have the soviet stock to rely upon. And it is and will be an even greater political disaster if the russian army is not able to drive Ukraine out of Kursk.
If you were to assume somebody captures 100 km² a day, there'll be 9 continuous days where reporting "1000 km²" is technically correct. That's how rounding and math works.

Russia is very close to a strategically important town. Ukraine would need to advance many more km to get a similar target. I don’t see Russia blinking first, especially since they’ve shown themselves to be aggressively callous
