  • In this video, we share the first position we always start with in Block Therapy. This position will help you locate, activate and strengthen your diaphragm. This position will help you pull in more oxygen, increase oxygen absorption and remove toxins from your lungs and tissue. This will help to decompress your core, improve flow in your abdominal organs to improve digestion and elimination.

I was using a book to block with but then had a brainwave: I squashed a new toilet roll flat and it seems to work really well. It’s fairly firm but also gives a little. If I find your sample lessons useful I will purchase the package, but I’ll remember the toilet roll trick in case I don’t have a block.

Thank you. .I have watched a few of your excellent videos. I suggest that a person who watches your videos (whatever the topic) would be helped by a quick , concise introduction about Block Therapy. 1. What is it? 2. What is the block. 3. What is the physiological basis to explain the benefits? 4. What conditions benefit the most?
Knowledge of how a healing technique "works" always helps the patient positively. Best wishes.

I had a mirimiri (Maori (cultural) massage).
She said my emotions are stuck in my stomach and as she pressed on it- the pain almost made me hyperventilate.
Finding this block therapy has allowed me to continue to release that pain myself. And this is day 1! It’s interesting because I had recently considered doing certain yoga poses to release the stomach pain because I had a revelation that I needed to feel the pain and not avoid it. I like the block technique. I'm going to give that a try. But doing belly breaths pushing out of stomach that far can actually cause the transverse abdominis to become stretched out and then a unstable pelvis to occur. You can breathe into your diaphragm pulling the stomach in instead of pushing it out.

Neck strain from injury, I am the opposite, I am constantly in depth and do deep breathing, because of injury, disability and I am a dancer. I am too deep, and sometimes I stop breathing. I always start againg, but there is that moment you don't know if you are going to take in another breath. For me how amazing it would be balanced. Otherwise at present it triggers my vestibular system, which means cramps, contractions, constriction, restriction, hypertonicity then triggers all my other systems to go into emergency mode and shut down and not fun, and then I constantly want to cry. I need to lay on my belly because I have old spinal injuries to deal with, but can it be done in a more balanced way?

Hi there! This is a great question. Our block is designed to fit perfectly into the curvature of our bodies. The block also shares similar density to bone, which helps apply the pressure to melt through the adhesions. With a cork block, you may find it to be a little bit spongey and the edges are a little bit harsh!

Hi there! In the belly position we place the block flat on the floor horizontal to the body. We slowly come down on to the block making sure the belly button is on the center of the block. We place our forearms on the floor to support us. We will have better control of how much pressure we put into the block this way. Your head can be up or down. If your neck if feeling fatigued, you can bend the neck so that your head is down. How you hold your head is personal preference. If it feels right, you can bring your upper body down to the ground. Hope this helps.
*If you have difficulty getting to the floor, or if it is too painful in the belly area to do this position on the floor, you can do it on a bed. This will lessen the pressure and you will still benefit from the position.

Hi there, great question! We always start Blocking in the belly. You can place the Block (or towel) directly over the belly button, while breathing diaphragmatically. Remain here for a minimum of three minutes. After this, feel free to move the tool around the area to dive a little bit deeper! There is no "wrong" place to work. I hope this helps!

Hi there! This is an emotional release. Our fascia traps emotions in our tissue. As we work to decompress, we can release toxins, and emotions. It's cleaning our the stuck energy. It's a good thing! :)

Hi, yes, over time the Block can help break down scars. However, for more effective work, using your hands in the area will detangle the fascia in a different way. Are you in the Membership? There are classes in the Posture and Added Video section of the Membership that teach Fluid Isometrics with your hands. This may be useful for you do add to your routine of fascia care.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

It might increase pressure on them while in position. You could try placing the towel on the hernias so they don't balloon out. Removing the abdominal adhesions help decrease the pressure into the hernia. Try it on a bed or try it from lying on your back and hold the towel against your belly to breathe.

I am also working with trauma (and postCovid). I tried this exercise for 3 breaths and I think we who have trauma in our bodies could not jump straight into doing 3 minutes. We need to understand that our bodies are protecting us by not letting us breath fully. I experienced releasing too much trauma at once and I got so much anxiety so I could not breath at all unless I screamed. Had to go on SSRI pills just to save the ears of my family and neighbours! So take it easy and go superslow. Think of your body as a very scared dog. You have to talk calm and pet it very softly so it starts trusting you before it begins wagging its tail.

Hi there! This is not bad for the internal organs. By using your breath as your guide you won't hurt yourself. For some people this may be too intense, but there are ways to lessen the intensity if needed, eg. do the work on a soft surface like a bed, or stay up on your forearms, or simply breathing into the floor with no prop (towel or block).
