Neocolors II wax pastels are amazing! Great lesson with the small set. I got the 84 set to get the more muted shapes, and I am loving it. You can use a plastic plate (where the center is a bit rough) to "grate" the pastels and pick up colour or mix it from there. TIP 1️⃣: A regular ceramic or porcelain plate would also work and "eat" less product. The 84 set allowed me to create dedicated palettes, depending on the subject I am painting. You are going to love the big set! Herr are some tips TIP 2️⃣ Picking up colour from the tip rather than the back helps you keep a pointed shape on the tip rather than wetting the paper at the bottom tip (which you might need to peel off if too wet) Tip 3️⃣ if you need to sharpen them, pick up the shavings in emprty half.oans or cheap plastic palette. it is 100% product which you can use for.bigher washes or corrections.
Try emerald green with yellow ochre and brown. And ultramarine blue with yellow ochre and brown. This for different greens. And blue with brown is good for shadows.
Big fan of Neocolor II! I purchased all of mine open stock so I have a small custom palette that includes plenty of portrait colors. I enjoy using them on their own, and also to fix watercolor paintings I'm not entirely happy with. Stiffer brushes are best, I prefer flat ones that don't hold a lot of water so the colors don't get too diluted.
I got my 15 pack today and love them. Ive been making trees! Im using a very rough colour water paper from the dollar store and the textrue is amazing! Thank so much for this video ❤
I’m so glad you did this video because I got some of them and not a lot of reviews on them:( yes! Definitely do more so I can learn more techniques on them although they are very fun! ❤❤❤❤
Beautiful tree Emma! Those crayons look fun. Seems like they would be perfect for travel since you wouldn't have to wait for a palette to dry or worry about spilling paint.
Love love love this! I notice that it looks like almost a cross between watercolors and gouache, but with more of the traits of watercolor. SO much fun!! I have a small set that I haven't used in a while....you've inspired me!!!! Thank you!
Thank you for using the 15 set because that's the one most of the people in our local group have. (Pensioners) 😊 They are so excited to be able to follow along to learn the use. Love watching what can be done with a nominal set; less confusion and cost. Thanks again.
Thank you so much!! I have some of these but haven't used them in a really long time. Would love to see a whole lot more with these crayons. Flowers, landscapes, etc. Thanks for sharing!!
The colours are so vibrant. They make my standard watercolour seem quite dull by comparison. I can see why they could become addictive to use. Thanks for sharing. ❤😊
Ok but can we talk about how simple you make the process and how stunningly good looking these trees are? *Video saved* What a great video, thank you for that!
I have the Lyra watercolor crayons plus the set of 10 Caran D'ache Neo IIs. This was great fun to watch and I expect it will be great fun to do, as well. Yes, more please.
Awesome tutorial Emma. Thank you so much for sharing these techniques. I would personally love to see you use these media in more ways on the channel. Thanks again and have a wonderful day and rest of your week. 😊
Wow, thanx for your beautiful work and tutorial with crayons. I've bought some last week and it was a big pleasure to try these out with your help. 😍 And YES, please more of them.
Purple is one of my favorite colors to mix with bright greens for shadows. Instant olive. I love these trees, so pretty. The beautiful thing about crayons and pencils is the control you get. Also, you are using the crayons like palette-dried gouache. You said in another video that you didn't really like gouache as much, but I think you'd like it palette dried and used in the same way you're often using the crayons. Thanks for the tutorial. I'd love to see more with the crayons. I don't care what ;-).
I really appreciate these crayons too! I had problems with my creativity because I hate to spill stuffs, but with these media, it is almost impossible! Thank you for sharing your techniques, you really look like having fun! I would appreciate to see you draw & paint a weeping meadow with a little breeze in the falling branches to make it even more ‘alive’ ;) Great work and fun to look at 🎉😊
Love these trees. :) Would love to see more videos of you using both these and your Albrecht Durers, they are so much fun! Would like to see how you tackle bare winter trees, for some reason I often get impatient painting out the branches and they end up too thick near the ends, so would love to see how you render them.
Morning Emma, u keep spending my money! lol I l love the look of these crayons, using them with water x Thank u for the introduction Emma x With art , art mediums etc we evolve with our creations. Using a new medium can spark our inspiration creativeness so its all good to embrasse different mediums and style etc. Lovely to see u experimenting and to hear the excitement in your voice x love Alli from UK XXX p.s just ordered the pack of 15! xx
I have this ordered and your video is so timely! I will be painting along with you and your trees when they come in! Oh I didn’t know about the pallet for these crayons? I will save that for my next order! Thanks Emma!
I got a different brand with just a few colors. I played around a bit. I actually didn't like putting the color down on the plastic board. I just used scrap watercolor paper to lay down color or put a wet brush on the crayon itself to pick up the color. Can't wait to see how you use them. I think landscapes would be nice!
Very nice video. Thanks for it. Do y9ou know the best way to protect paintings with the neocolor II. So they can last. I mean, this material is not permanent. I think water color pencils are better . They dry and ink don't go easily. Can you tell about your expedience about this? Do you have any video? Thanks.
They work fine on cellulose paper, I actually prefer to use them on toned mixed media paper (quality ones like Strathmore 400 or Clairefontaine PaintON). As long as the paper doesn’t pill when you scrub it, it's fine. Any texture works depending on your preferences.
Emma, can you remove color at all? Paper towels or kinda scrub it out? Very cool! I purchased those years or so ago and didn't know how to use them! Thanks :)
Great job! Check out Lindsay Weirich- the frugal crafter. She has a lot of tutorials with different ways to use them! I love that you can use light over dark with these and do lots of layering, or you can water them down and use them like water colour. I often use them directly on the paper and color my shape in with more pigment and liquify them with a very slightly damp brush, usually a filbert brush. I sharpen them and keep the shaving in a cheap plastic palette, adding just a touch of water to melt them together and then you have a pan of that colour so you don’t have to keep taking colour off the stick. Nothing goes to waste! I have the 84 box I think!
I bought these crayons but have been a little intimidated to use them, not sure why, but now I’m inspired to make these trees! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Take the extra colour from the tip of the crayon instead of the flat end. That helps maintain the tapered end and you won’t have to sharpen as often.
Thanks for the "tip"! 😁 Great idea.
That’s a great tip!

Well darn it. Now I have another art supply to add to my wishlist! I love how vibrant the colors are! Lol

Thanks my kids were gifted these colors but had no idea how to use them. Now they're painting with them!!

I really loved playing along with my Prisma watercolor pencils! I will put these crayons on my wishlist. 😊

would love a more neutral coastal scape !! i LOVE this product as well
I have the Lyra watercolor crayons plus the set of 10 Caran D'ache Neo IIs.
You can put any shavings from sharpening them into a palette and make a Neocolor watercolor palette!
I love that blue spruce tree.
I love your trees, this practice will go into my water color journal today. I can’t wait to get your book. I just ordered it. 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️
I would like to see landscape done with these crayons, maybe seaside. Thank you!

Love the tree tutorial. I’d love to see you try a Ponderosa pine tree. This is a needle tree with a lot of open spaces. My nemesis. Hahahah.
I really appreciate these crayons too! I had problems with my creativity because I hate to spill stuffs, but with these media, it is almost impossible!

I would appreciate to see you draw & paint a weeping meadow with a little breeze in the falling branches to make it even more ‘alive’ ;)
Great work and fun to look at 🎉😊
I would love to see more videos using the CD crayons!
Thanks for the tutorial. I love painting trees so I'm happy to see I can use my Neocolor 2 pastels to paint them.
Emma great job. I love the trees I'm going to have to try this myself. :) thank you

Fantastic
That’s so informative! I have a couple Neocolors that I bought open stock and I’ve been struggling to use them. Now they make more sense to me 😊
You are the tree master! These are beautiful. Guess I have to get myself a birthday present!
Wow! Looks very nice…. Excellent job! You make it look so easy! Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents! ❤
These are awesome. I wonder if it would work with water soluble oil pastels as well?
Love these crayons! Looks like I might add yet another medium/supply to my growing collection. 😊
I have this ordered and your video is so timely! I will be painting along with you and your trees when they come in! Oh I didn’t know about the pallet for these crayons? I will save that for my next order! Thanks Emma!
Wow I love those trees & I love those crayons. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford them.
This is an amazing medium 😍 I love it! Yes I would love to see you use more of this medium. Thank you 😊. FLORIDA

Emma…. Totally fun👏 I’ve decided to invest in these watercolor crayons❤ ty
Andersonville, Tennessee here!
Thank you for sharing this!
Love it ❤
Beautiful video/tutorial. Would love to see if colour mixing is an option. I'm deciding if I need a big set or can get away with a smaller set.
Thank you 🙏🏼

So cool! Great job!
I’m wondering how these would look on a smoother hot pressed paper? Brilliant video as always!
so nice trees❤️😍
Amazing I loved it
Love this. I would like to see more ❤
Now that is more my style! I think you got better detail that way. ⚾️
Love it❤
Yep, i need a green between the Yellow Green and the Emerald Green - more natural... any recommendations? 😊🙏
I have a small set of watercolor crayons 🖍️. I want to try and see if I can create some type of a tree. I love watching your videos. 😊
Yayyyy I love it
Love this and the Christmas tree was beautiful 😍 anything maybe water? Clouds amd a moon?.
Hello, thank you for your video. How do you seal/fix Neocolor II?
Very nice video. Thanks for it. Do y9ou know the best way to protect paintings with the neocolor II. So they can last. I mean, this material is not permanent. I think water color pencils are better . They dry and ink don't go easily. Can you tell about your expedience about this? Do you have any video? Thanks.
would love to see some ocean/waves scenes. Do you know if the Caran D'Ache watercolour pencil crayons are the same as the watercolour crayons?
I must say ur content is quite fantastic. If caran d’ache isn’t supporting ur channel then they’re nuts
Do these crayons dry lighter like other watercolor paints?
They seem to keep their vibrancy!
Aren't they fun? I also like the look of the crayon so wouldn't mind sometimes leaving some areas dry. I have a pack from Mungyo.
I would like to see more!
Hi Emma! Great video! Do you recommend using cotton or cellulose paper and hot or cold pressed paper when working with these crayons?
I'm actually going to do a video testing out different papers to see which is best!
They work fine on cellulose paper, I actually prefer to use them on toned mixed media paper (quality ones like Strathmore 400 or Clairefontaine PaintON). As long as the paper doesn’t pill when you scrub it, it's fine. Any texture works depending on your preferences.
@@EmmaLefebvre I highly recommend that you include toned paper in your test as well!
You’re over critical of yourself…all the trees, especially the evergreen, are BEAUTIFUL!!!
Emma, can you remove color at all? Paper towels or kinda scrub it out? Very cool! I purchased those years or so ago and didn't know how to use them! Thanks :)
I’ll have to try and check!
They lift fairly similarly to watercolor.
Could you tell me what exact colors you used for each tree? I have the 30 set, and I am struggling to figure it out so I can properly follow along.
If you google the small set, read the list of colours it comes with
Love it! Can you do a onderwater Scene with a fish in it? Have you do this for thé lessons with Caran d'ache mediums.....
Do you like watercolor pencils or the watercolor crayons better?
So far I love the crayons more

I m not finding these enjoyable don't know what I'm doing wrong but the pigment pay out on the light green and yellow seem weak to me any ideas, help
Um, will anyone ever say what colors come in the 15 set??? They aren’t listed anywhere, including on the packaging. Thanks.
Do you like the crayons like these better than the pencil version? Does that make sense?
I can't speak for Emma but these are just so fun. I've never really liked coloured pencils (wc or regular).
I do! I find them so much more vibrant!
Emma could u try this crayons with a vibrant color iris flowers
I’ll add it to my list
