- I interviewed Fat Mike from NOFX for ARTEconcert at the Hurricane Festival 2015. We waited for him till midnight but it was so worth it. Maybe some day I will upload the whole interview :)))
This is how I used to talk at 4 am after a LONG night of cocaine.

1991. Dave died in like 88 or something, then they had someone else for lead, then El Hefe came on board in 1991.
Technicasualty Dave is still alive. Steve was their 2nd guitarist from 88-91 and he left to join another band. El Hefe joined in 91

Hepatitis Bathtub is the best book I've read in a while. A modern Please Kill Me, making The Dirt pretty tame in comparison. I have to highly reccomend the audio version, because they each read their own stories, and hearing their emotions paints a beautiful shit show. I grew up with nofx, seeing them countless times and they never get old.

Great interview. Early NOFX memory for me about eighteen years ago:
I was a teen still living with my parents, but had a job and saved up some money. I drove to a whole different city, bought So Long And Thanks For The Shoes, and Heavy Petting Zoo, and an N64 with Super Mario 64. I played that game and collected literally every single star and secret in that game, and listened to those two albums back to back, over and over again.
Good times. NOFX still rules, and Fat Mike just seems like a legit person to me. Just staying true to himself and fuck whatever anybody else thinks.
It's truly special that this is your own encounter with him. Very cool that he was thoughtful enough to give you this much time of day. I'm just one of those kids that's like "...yeah, man! I was just born when they were brewing Punk in Drublic!" They've been around forever! I really didn't get an idea of who they were until I was in High School...and now they're a HUGE favorite of mine.
I have his bass guitar that he normally used. it's bad ass

Fat Mike is cool as hell! I met him in 1999 and he was cool to me. But my friend who had bleached hair tried to talk to him a bit after me got called a poser and was asked to let Fat Mike know how it felt to be a boy-band reject.
I look at Fat Mike as a great artist and I look up to his style of playing. Nofx. Awesome.

Great Stories! I'll have ask my friend if we ever saw them. The place we used to go to was $10 a show with 4 or 5 bands. I saw Murphy's Law, Plasmatics, Dead Kennedy's, Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, Venom, And Ramones , Motorhead!

This guy and his band are what playing is all about. Their attitude and how they look at their playing makes for the most enjoyment when playing. Ive been in bands where fucks were uptight and over the top, we need to be perfect. Then I was in bands like NOFX and it was so fucking enjoyable and worth all the effort. Fat Mike gets it and so does his bandmates. The fun those fuckers have is infectious. I'd chop off a nut to play a set with these guys.

I think this is my favorite Fat Mike interview
Back when I was a teenager, I remember having friends who used what little money they had to go see NOFX (They did seem to make a point of tickets being relatively affordable in comparaison to other bands so I'll give them points for that) and that ended up being kind of sad that their favourite band ended up not playing good and not looking like they cared about it....Meh, some of them reacted by saying "Well, it's NOFX, that's what you were supposed to expect" ........I suppose both reactions are legitimate.
Mike I have been to a Party near LAX for a Convention of some kind. It was at what looked like a Dungeon inside. It was not so bad cool people just having fun doing what they like. Cant hate it just lt it be and if you like it have fun if not go somewhere else I would not be surprised if you would like it and go there??? I have with a couple cute cool girls HHMM I think it is or was due to a convention that was at that time its all good just about a good time doing or seeing something interesting and a bit different than at standard parties . Take care and stay well Mike stay Punk & Proud as you get a little older like me. Duane Peters the pro skater and even more punk than me? Says the same! I had him with his band US Bombs play a Fri nght I booked and promoted with a friend in my local for some time in Zooport Beach a lot of fun and some work. I could pay and come through with everything I said when booking bands . and buy a few an extra round or two for selected bands. Even found out some of the musicians I worked with kind of WHO ARE in The Adolescents Steve Soto RIP PLAYED IN jOYRIDE AND OTHERS i HAD PLAY and HE started Agent Orange I was lucky to meet MEMBERS OF at a secret skate pool on top of s big hill in north Tustin Agent Orange SHOWED UP AT the Orange Bowl a nice old style left hand deep kidney pool me and my DAMM DRUMMER USED TO SKATEBOARD AND TOOKEPICS ONE OF WICH i MADE A FRAME AND IS HUNG ON THE WALL IN MY HOUSE. the best DAMM PUNK BAND FOR KEG PARTIE PERIOD. D.A.M.M. Drunks Against MADD Mothers. nothing against the Moms just some of the things the org. was doing. A good name for our Punk Band. WAS GOOD Not NOFX good but not bad.

Been into NOFX since I first heard and bought PUNK IN DRUBLIC ! i MET ANOTHE RBASS PLAYER /SINGER ONE NIGHT AND DRANK SOME bourbon& coke AND jACK & COKE FOR SAN HOUR HAVING A GOOD CONVERSATION AT A PLACE i RECOMENDED BACKSTAGE WHEN hE SAID "THERE MUST BE SOMEPLACE GOING ON AROUND HERE BETTER THAN THIS" i SAW ONLY SHRUGGED SHOULDERS AND SUGGESTED A LARGE BAR WITH A COUPLE POOL TABLES DECENT DRINKS AND MUSIC IS OFTEN GOOD imo AND THE GIRLS DO NOT PESTER YOU FOR MONEY MUCH LIKE SIMIMILAR BARS WITH A SLIGHTLY PUZZLED LOOK i ADDED AFTER DANCING TOPLESS THAT IS. he SAID WITH W STERN VOICE HE HAS "SOUNDS GOOD LETS GO! WE WENT FROM A CLEAN BUT PLAIN =backstage at Celebrity Theater to nearby Fritz 2 and sat at a table and spoke like friends for and hour. Are you fucking dense? Morality has nothing to do with the punk scene or your religion. You think you didn't have morals until you "gave up" punk to become a fucking Christian? Morality is subjective and there is no inherent meaning to life, thus no "true" morality. Our species - through our consciousness - create our own values and determine a meaning for our own lives because we do not possess any inherent identity or natural values. Those values and how you identify your own morality is just something you create to justify some sort of "significance" to life when there is none. Existence precedes essence... it's that simple.
And don't even get me fucking started on your middle school understanding of how politics work. Some advice? Give up Christianity and read up on Existentialism and perhaps Anarcho-Socialism.
