Unofficial lifestory of Aaron Abeyta, guitar player and trumpet player for NOFX - Edit: Where it says "El Paso", should be read "Zacatecas". #punk #punkrock #NOFX #elhefe #lifestory #history #music #tome
Absolute Legend who added the Jazz to NOFX and helped make them the band they are now. I would love to here a NOFX "lounge album" with all El Hefe and a few ska songs 🤘
And his goofy innocent childlike behavior was such a perfect expression of the band reminds me of someone I’d get along with in high school. Such a laid back silly guy and I feel he keeps Mike on the tracks like how smelly does
I ran into him at a restaurant in encino CA once. When I recognized him I chatted with him in line and he ended up sitting down with me and my girlfriend and we had lunch together lmao. Cool ass dude, and super talented.
Have to Respect the Confidence... Oi Oi Oi.. cheers from Orange County California.. He's great, worked with him as production assistant for the Ink N Iron festival in Long Beach CA.. for Punk Rock Karaoke..
@@tunelowplayslow5623 Lmao...I don't have a favorite, but I would love to know him. How can you say you have a favorite Mexican? That's bullsh*t. Do you have a favorite American? Favorite Pole, maybe? What about a favorite Canadian? Do you see what I mean? El Hefe is the shit...legit. Please....El Hefe is one of my top 10 favorite musicians
I used to know him in the late ‘90s when he lived near Eureka and owned a club called Hefe’s. He was funny. I made some radio ads for him and we hung a little. He eventually got sick of being a club owner and left the area.
Hefe is awesome, for sure...but what makes the entire band great is that they are all phenomenal, and Fat Mike is a genius songwriter/bass player/singer. I can definitely say that NoFX improved tremendously after El Hefe joined the group....I loved their music so much more after they adopted the new style. On top of that, he brought a whole new level of entertainment to the shows ❤
Drank much pisto with dude.Mark Jefe & Fernando showed up every weekend for years to go to shows & parties & play music.I remember his drunk katas (was a guardian angel) & his gf they called 'jugs'. El Jefe was overshadowed by Mark Curry (lived in Aaron's garage) musically and socially. Mark even ditched "Crystal Spheres" Aaron (Jefe) Larry & Fernando to land a solo record deal. I'm happy a quiet, funny dude rebounded & is living his best life. Jefe doesn't speak Spanish but,.¡Viva los hijos de la chingada!
Jefe.. always great... I worked for the Ink N Iron festival in Long Beach CA.. we hired Punk Rock Karaoke... Just a awesome dude.. Got me to sing New Rose.. I got my request to get them to the Main stage.. just a great Guy plus Steve Soto, RIP
It's no coincidence that the first NOFX album that was actually listenable was the first one with El Hefe, even Fat Mike admits that much. They wouldn't have been the same without him and most likely wouldn't have lasted as long as they did either.
I agree completely. As a guitar player myself, I can honestly say that any musician improves with practice, but Hefe definitely inspired many changes within the entire band quickly
@@ChandoggyDude, I’m more than happy to go into it. Not sure on exact date but it was definitely 94/95, and NOFX was playing at a little shit hole here in Atlanta GA call the Somber Reptile (no longer there)… My friends band was they’re opener. So I was side stage on the same side as Hefe. I think I was sitting on the amp or standing, but Hefe saw me digging in my nose, so in my usual stupid manner, I pulled it out on my finger and offered it to him. But with outta breath he dug up in his nose and pulled out his finger. At that moment we both wiped our fingers on each other shirt….with a grossed out laugh later it was done….all this happened in probably 5 seconds between songs. Just enough time for him to let down the horn from his lips And that was it, just a ((hahaha that was funny)) gesture… Then he was back to the next song……. So yeah that was it. 5 seconds of my life that was just spontaneous stupidity….
That's so crazy 🤣🤣🤣 I'm not far from Atlanta, but I never got to see them Live. Sucks, because they broke up. Maybe one day I'll visit the Punk Rock Museum
@@ChandoggyBack in the late nineties Atlanta had a decent punk scene. So many bands and so many clubs to go see them. Like 8 clubs and warehouses. Always a band playing somewhere

El Hefe is essentially the leader of this group, he taught Fat Mike to sing and harmonize in a way that I doubt many others could. Much love Hefe!!
not to mention he's a much better singer than fatty
And his goofy innocent childlike behavior was such a perfect expression of the band reminds me of someone I’d get along with in high school. Such a laid back silly guy and I feel he keeps Mike on the tracks like how smelly does
Hearing he attended music school made so much sense too. I feel like their overall musicianship got so much better after he joined the band.
facts!

I have always been a fan of El Jefe, but this quick bio is packed with so much information, I like him even more. Bueno.
He is one of the best guitarists in punk rock in my opinion.
Chris Hannah of Propagandhi?

My friend's band opened for Nofx and a few other big bands at a festival in 2021. Jefe stood side stage for EVERY band. He's the fucking man.
What is the name of your friends band?

Jefe is what made Nofx good. There I said it
Everyone knows this!
Facts. Jefe saves the band from how bad Mike sucks.
Fair and accurate.
I think you could be right but the main writer in the band has always been Mike. He did brought some magic that helped the band rise 😊
No lie in that
All around solid guy. One of the nicest and caring person you will ever meet. That counterfeit situation was a mess. What a great journey.
One cool cat! Had the pleasure to hang out w him Many times! Hes a funny guy!
What a guy. We all love you. And from everyone who has seem NOFX , WE THANK YOU.
Much love to Hefe! ❤
El Hefe must be a super chill guy, because for hanging around Mike's ego that long... This on his own deserves an award..
Jefe has perfect solos and melodic rhythm. His solo on Reeko might be one of my favorites ever
legit a great watch dood, great job
He is amazing. Very talented
Super talented musician!

I love this band. It's three good musicians holding shit together for a funny lyricist. I'm really gonna miss seeing them live.
El Hefe is an absolute legend. He brought a lot of personality and musical talent to the band, he's always funny at the live show, always.
That’s nofx secret weapon you could hear the difference once he joined… Is there anything a Mexican can’t fix 😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, Mexico.
😂😂😂 As a construction worker, they can work fast, but maybe not fix anything more than they f*ck it up. Hefe is an exception
He is such a dude!

Just like Hefe didn't become Hefe until NOFX!

Where can I find his music? Not available on Spotify 😢

Don't forget he had a record label too
I love here. He made them successful

Very, very, major!
Who are the best Telecaster players ever? Answer: James Burton and El Hefe.
Keith Richards, Joe Strummer.... Waylon Jennings. to name a few.
Any chicken picker including John 5
very very very very very very very very cool is the answer.
His name is The Boss for a reason!
Long live El jefe

Short for Hebrews (Jews), because 2 of the members of the band are Jewish (Fat Mike and Melvin).

NOFX sucked before Hefe.
Hefe fucked up nofx , they were rough and tough then Hefe came in with his trumpet and the band turned pop
