Man from the technology to the turn radius to the build quality, this Mazda3 Turbo is punching way above it's price point! I would get it in a heartbeat if it came with a port tuned suspension and manual gearbox!

Great review and glad to see you compared them to the others! Mazda has done a great job giving you the basics needed to get the car where you want! In stock form they are great for the city and twisty roads so long as you aren't a really aggressive driver. However once you get into aggressive driving two things become clear. The tires are way too conservative and so are the brakes! Simple fix though with several options in the aftermarket! Another area is the power delivery. While its great for day to day driving, the car needs to breath a lil better. Corksport sells parts for the car that really wake it up! Changing to the cold air intake (including the turbo inlet), axle back exhaust, strut tower brace and some better tires really woke up my Mazda6 and with the shorter wheel base of this Mazda3 it will do even better I am sure! Even with the mods I listed the car will be considerably cheaper than both of the other cars for those that don't wanna spend a ton. A slightly modded Mazda is a blast to drive and is super easy to maintain too! 87k miles on mine and its been a blast!
As you said, add a couple mods and it's right there. Can wait to see the upcoming 6
My '22 turbo has been a great daily and road trip car. Handling works well in the twisty NE mountain roads, AWD works well in the snow. Even on the... uninspired... stock tires and rotors. Throws decent power to the back pushing you through a turn (was great coming from a fwd 2011 3). Was looking for sedans and "settled" for the hatch but it worked out pretty great when i moved apartments three days agter pickup.
Highly recommend mudguards or flaps though.

A Mazda 6 HB would be great!! I have the Mazda 3 HB PPT in soul crystal red and I love it!
If you want a Japanese hatch, this is the only choice. Really nice car. They came a long way from the old school 323 and 626 era.
They really have. It’s very nice these days. I had a 2015 Mazda3 sport and it was cheap and tiny

Only thing though is left foot braking is used a lot when tracking the car so that notification might get annoying if you’re really driving the car
