I was lucky to visit Bratislava last century. Rather beautiful. I've seen the Grad. But in this video I was deeply impressed by the regular park. Great !
After watching your video, I've put Bratislava on my to do list. So, I was here December 2022 and fall in love with it. I believe its a charming city. Thanks for the suggestion

I've been there In April on our way to the Ukrainian border to bring friends with us to Canada. We made a stop In Bratislava. Visited the outside of the castle (Hrad) Main Square, Čumil, President Palace and Hviezdoslavovo námestie. Loved the city. I was astonished to see how slovaks speaks english with ease. Awesome Image quality of your video.

Thank you! Some Slovak cities are a bit out of the way. I was traveling towards Poland that time. More Slovakia is surely on the list - maybe winter, maybe spring/summer. Ostrava is next here on the channel, where I just stopped for a walk before continuing to Katowice (Poland)
If you ever go to this lovely city, be very careful if you use their trams. When you buy a ticket, make sure you check that it has actually validated on the tram. We used the validation machine on the tram, heard it beep like it had worked and 2 mins later was approached by plain clothes inspectors who very aggressively told us we hadn't validated and had to pay a 50 euro fine. They wouldn't let us off the tram. Still not sure if this was a scam as the machine itself looked fine and they would have seen us use it when we got on but just be aware and check your ticket right away.
Thank you for this info! There are a few similar places and it's also sad for me to hear about that. One I remember was Gdansk on the bus to the airport. There you can buy a ticket at the entrance from the bus driver. That ticket is unvalidated though for some reason. When not validating immediately and instead storing you baggage etc. you may have not enough time to validate the ticket. I fail to understand why I would buy an unvalidated ticket on the way to exit the city. However, moments later the inspectors enter the bus, validator machines are blocked and mostly tourists get fines. It's a disgrace, borders on a scam there as well and finally leaves a bad impression when you arrive or leave the city you enjoy. I understand that some cities are so short on funds that they seem to outsource that business to private companies who turn to maximise their profits by targeting tourist routes. The city officials seem to oversee, that this one impression taints the overall positive image of their cities and destroys a lot of goodwill. I hope that city governments have 2nd thoughts about how they intent to generate tourist revenues
@@marct6327 Sorry for this experience in Bratislava but I think it's a fairly common thing to validate in-vehicle. It works like that in whole Slovakia and Czech republic too. You just buy (you can buy a lot in advance) and then mark the one with appropriate time period in vehicle. We consider it normal, just enter and validate, takes 1 second:)

Yes, the wind noise is something I keep struggling with. I had a double windbreak on the mic yet recently found out that it's not there but the mic-body where the noise is coming from. The little holes on the Zoom H1 back and sides leave in air that makes the noise. I now cover all that with some extra cloth yet all videos till now are with the side winds. This is the realistic sound (as you also hear wind in your ears). Always trying to improve it. I hope TH-cam allows some audio upload and replacement at some point where I could fix things
Honestly , Bratislava city tour isn't complete without crossing a Danube River and, visiting oldest public park in Central Europe on opposite bank and without walking around Danube...
What a lovely walk at Bratislava Slovakia sunny afternoon/evening. Honestly, I thought these were statues. They didn't move at all. Frozen. See this at 1:10 and 7:05 Loved hearing Stairway to Heaven. Didn't see who was playing this fine tune at 1:57 I have noticed that the musicians always know where to park to play for the perfect acoustic. Like the old man playing guitar at 3:56 He is really good! WALKING DEATH, to me, the woman so freaking skinny! 10:41 Beautiful music at 11:36 Plus violinist 13:43 and saxophone at 15:26 LOTS of Children here! Thank you! Yes, indeed more info overlays or subtitles would be great. At the moment though this would take too much time. I want to spend less time infront of the computer and the revenues of this small channel currently don't allow to hire someone to type in all these infos. I'll see how the channel develops. I enjoy making the videos and walking around yet additional overlays will go better with edited and shorter videos...possibly on a 2nd channel. Thanks for watching!
you either mean trams (they have tracks and it's common in Europe that the tracks just go wherever), or red train-looking tourist buses which probably got their permit from city to show tourists around (we hate them)

Many European cities are old - hundreds of years to often 1000+. With such a long history they developed throughout time compared to many of the more recent planned cities with a grid-layout like in the US. When these older European cities weren't destroyed during one of the many wars, they usually have a market square with a town hall and plenty churches. The train station also can often be found in the city center. If the terrain allows there is a castle, often also older city walls. Some walls date back to Roman times which certainly can't be found in the Americas. Different walls there maybe from Maya etc.. The architecture of the European cities still looks rather diverse where every period left some mark - in the East like Bratislava there is more from Soviet times for example
Bratislava is great. I got a job as a concierge in a hotel, and this kid named Scotty tipped me a nickel. I then slapped my boss in the face and quit. I told him I will now open my own hotel
When I visited it years ago as a complement to my visit to Vienna, Bratislava met all my expectations: I did'n expect to find too much to see ... and so it was !!! Although, I've to say watching the images, the city I visited was much dirtier, deteriorated and outdated.
Many of the buildings in Eastern Europe cities have improved tremendously over the past years - especially Poland and also Czechia and Slovakia. Further South the changes seem less dramatic. I'll have some more Serbia, Ukraine and Bulgaria (Plovdiv) videos coming, as well as different tours through Budapest
Yes, there is more to see in Slovakia. Never been to Košice and the area around Hungary seems interesting. I hope it will work out in spring if there is a route from Zakopane or Lviv maybe
