    In this video, Part 2: Steez CT SV TW Casting, I will cast a variety of lures and talk about my initial impressions of the Steez CT SV TW and explain why I chose to get it after I was not going to get it initially. I cast cranks, worms and some small baits as well.
    I test the smoothness of the retrieve, power and also the clicking drag.
    The Daiwa Steez CT SV TW is quite the caster. A very capable reel.

    From the Daiwa Website:
    It is the flagship reel in the Daiwa line and one of the finest bait casters money can buy. The new compact 70 size is small, palmable and ultra comfortable. Twelve ball bearings and a roller bearing make this reel one of the smoothest on the market, bar none. The light 5.3 oz.design incorporates Daiwa’s most advanced technologies. The rigid frame and side cover are constructed from Magnesium which is half the weight of aluminum yet just as strong. The SV spool is milled from Ultra-light G1 Aluminum alloy. The advanced Air Brake System effectively prevents overlays utilizing centrifugal and magnetic force. The comfortable crank uses soft paddle handles. Available in 6.3 to 1 and 8.1 to 1 gear ratios, the reels are technique versatile. The state of the art drag system can apply an impressive, ten pounds of pressure while paying out with a buttery smoothness. With four models to choose from, the state of the art baitcasting reel can serve many different purposes. If you want to experience the culmination of 60 years of Daiwa reel building technology take the STEEZ CT SV 70 for a spin.

      @HobieWanKenobi  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good questions. I would compare prices of the two reel in Japan. You will save A LOT of money getting either reel from Japan. Digitaka.com and Japan Lure Shop are usually the cheapest.
      Performance wise, I would say long distance casting is pretty close with 3/8 and up lures. 1/4oz and below, I liked the CT better. Pitching felt a little better with the CT. I do not have a lot of time skipping with the CT but, it seems a little better in the short time I have used it.
      The CT is noticeably smaller and palms even better than the already great Steez SV TW. Both reels are smooth but, the CT is smoother.

      Really depends on how you fish. This reel is pretty versatile and can do almost any style of fishing but, more suited to finesse (not BFS type finesse). I personally would opt for a ln Alphas SV TW 800s. Less money and most of the performance

      I havent used the Antares A. I know I really do like the Steez CT. The Antares A would probably be better suited for slightly larger lures (like jigs and such). Both reels are the top of the line for the top reel companies out there. My biggest factor would probably be price. Sometimes you find a good deal on a slightly used reel.

    What's the point of buying a 500 reel that can cast as far as my 200 reel?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What is the point of buying a Benelli ETHOS when a Mossberg 500 has pretty much the same range? There is a lot more disparity with the shotguns that the $500/$200 reel situation you mentioned.
      I will agree that a $500 reel is not 2.5x better than a $200 reel. There is a increase in refinement, ease of achieving distance, accuracy...many things. The same can be said about a $200 reel versus an $80 reel. Rifle A and Rifle B probably shoot the same round the same distance (given the same length barrel, ammo and such).
      There comes a place where people are willing to pay beyond the point of diminishing returns for a product. I see people driving sports cars when the speed limit is only 65mph. People enjoy different things are may be willing to spend more money on their passion than others. Does not mean people who dump money on their passion are better at it or necessarily more successful.

    • @MrRednexus
      @MrRednexus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HobieWanKenobi 65mph are restrictions to how fast a person can drive, what are the restrictions of how far a $500 and $200 can throw?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrRednexus Without getting into a huge argument about it, if Reel 500 and Reel 200 cast the same distance (speed limit), why then buy Reel 500? Same can be said for anything. I used the sports car analogy because even though it has the same restrictions (posted speed limit) as a Ford Focus, why do people still buy cars that cost more than a Ford Focus that can, because of physical limitations or mechanical, do the same thing as something less expensive?
      There are countless factors that cant really be quantified into buying things but are clearly present. I think you know what I am saying.

    • @Zozo806
      @Zozo806 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      try it yourself. A Zillion HLC will outcast any Steez and you have still 150 to 200 bucks left.
      It cast longer light to medium rigs. The steez is at the other hand lighter, smaller snd you can cast actually even the bigger Ultra light to light rigs and baits still with respectable distance.
      Also the lure and fish contact is a bit better.
      Sure you could also catch mostly 70% of any perch with a 70 Dollar CastKing combo and there is no reason for a 1000 bucks Bait finesse combo to catch some baby pike, perch and trout but you may noticed fishing is not more about getting something to eat out of the water. Its a hobby

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I havent used a spinning reel in a few years. Technology is really helping these baitcasting reels cast lighter and easier. I like the Steez CT a lot.
      As far as line, there are many factors. braid is smaller in diameter than mono of FC (for same lb). That helps with casting and you can fit more line on your reel. Braid also has no stretch which can be good in certain situations (heavy cover, really deep water...). Because of the no-stretch, it will feel more sensitive...wait...I should just make a video of this.
