    From the Daiwa Website:
    It is the flagship reel in the Daiwa line and one of the finest bait casters money can buy. The new compact 70 size is small, palmable and ultra comfortable. Twelve ball bearings and a roller bearing make this reel one of the smoothest on the market, bar none. The light 5.3 oz.design incorporates Daiwa’s most advanced technologies. The rigid frame and side cover are constructed from Magnesium which is half the weight of aluminum yet just as strong. The SV spool is milled from Ultra-light G1 Aluminum alloy. The advanced Air Brake System effectively prevents overlays utilizing centrifugal and magnetic force. The comfortable crank uses soft paddle handles. Available in 6.3 to 1 and 8.1 to 1 gear ratios, the reels are technique versatile. The state of the art drag system can apply an impressive, ten pounds of pressure while paying out with a buttery smoothness. With four models to choose from, the state of the art baitcasting reel can serve many different purposes. If you want to experience the culmination of 60 years of Daiwa reel building technology take the STEEZ CT SV 70 for a spin.

    I would say that clicker design has the advantage over FTB series, it wont hinder gear alignment with losen drag. But that drag star clicker is the same as Abu Garcia Pro Max 3L.

      Good to know. I guess I never thought of gear alignment.

    Very nice, Thankyou. Can you buy a 2019 Alpha CT SV reel and open the inside?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not plan on buying an Alphas CT. I have read on the TackleTour.net forums that it is very similar to the other Alphas reels. A few minor changes to accommodate the smaller spool.

    Kenobi can you tell me whats behind bearing in sideplate? It seems like there is metal oval plate with some material cover and gummy oring i wonder if it was fixed coz when i removed my bearing it went off

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spool shaft makes very light contact with the oval plate you mentioned. That is there to allow the spool to have control and not rattle during the cast. It also stabilizes the bearing as well.

    For the price, you would think the inside parts were all made of titanium! Lol, but it looks pretty standard. So what gives it the premium price point?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The spool is pretty nice and would add to the cost. Although it looks pretty similar to less expensive reels, the tolerances are pretty tight. There is no slop in the reel and the reel is overall a fine piece of machinery.

    Does the drag on your Steez make noice when you pull out the line? If so what's your opinion on the sound?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does make sound when drag is pulled out. I dont really use it for bass fishing. I like the sound for finesse fishing. Lets me know how much drag is being pulled out

    DO you know if this gear set fits the steez sv tw or they're different?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not think the gears are compatible. I think the CT gears are bigger. They both have the same gear ratios though so, not real need to I suppose.

    How do you think what is the maximum rig weights for this reel?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There isnt really a max weight. I would say 1oz may be doable but, I feel line capacity would be an issue. I would not buy this reel to cast heavier lures. There are more affordable options out there that would have the same heavy lure performance as this reel. I like using the Steez CT for 1/2 and below. Lures cast very well and the reel is very fun to use.

      Hobie-Wan Kenobi
      Thank you very much.
      I fish mostly with PE braid and as far as I know stock spool may be filled with 120-140 1,5 PE line and this is more than enough. I am not looking for heavy duty reel but mostly all-in-one reel and choosing between previous steez with 7.1 gear +1012 spoil or another light weight tuning spool and 8.1 new version, because of low winding length of 6,3 gear, however I am really concerned about durability of 8.1 new version because I plan to use it with low weight lures (would be perfect if it could work starting from 2 gr. spoons) and with 25-28gr lures. And now I am in deadlock because i can't chose what reel will work better for my conditions.
      I have posted the same question on tackletour and we can discuss it there.

      I sold the reel a while back. The reel was holding up great while I had it. I also see other with other Steez CT and it has been great for them too

    what will happen if I use it in seawater?

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bearings and other parts will corrode. Frame will too because magnesium doesn't like saltwater.
