    Great work and a joy to watch. Especially enjoyed all the scenery including that nice painted backdrop. I'm a little jealous that you can run those 10-car trains. On my much smaller logging layout that uses switchbacks the switchback tail tracks can only hold the loco and 3 cars, so that's my limit. But that's all the space I had. Thanks for going to the trouble to make the video and post it.

      Thanks Carl, glad you like it. Your trains may be short in length but I'm sure they are long on enjoyment.

    Like that the ceiling in the room is now finished … and not floor joists, wires and mayhem.

    Excellent work, a real thing of beauty. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire presentation and couldn't wait to see what was coming round the next bend. Especially enjoyed watching and listening to the Shay. Loved the sound she put out. Can't go wrong with either a Tsunami 2 or WOW sound. Both excellent decoders.
    Thanks for sharing!

    Log trains in the forest didn't use a caboose. But they always look nice at the end of a train.

    The trackage is so nice and smooth & straight that the capacities of a Shay aren’t needed.

    perfect layout. Did you make the trees or buy them ? If you bought them what brand are they ? Thanks

      Thank you, glad you like it. I made all of the big trees but the smaller ones are Woodland Scenics, Timberline and Heki.

    love the layout, I have been working on a plan for my dbl garage logging layout, and hope it turns out half as good as yours. what brand of sound decoders do you use for your geared locos? I will be putting a landing for a tower skidder and am looking for a track diagram for the landing, any ideas? anyway very nice layout thanks for sharing :)

    • @arcadialogger
      @arcadialogger  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have both TCS WOW Sound and Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders in my fleet. The unit in #17 in the video is a WOW sound decoder.If you have access to any Timber Times magazines you can find lots of ideas for your tower skidder landing. Good luck with your layout, I'll look for videos of yours.

    Can I please be miniaturized, and live in that train layout, please?

    I've never been to Arcadia, but lived in Michigan for 60 years. When I worked construction I was all over the state.
    You seam to have a lot of bedrock in your layout. That seams odd since Michigan is all sand that I've seen.
    Michigan sits on a bowl shaped limestone foundation carved out and filled with deposits by glaciers.
    You have an excellent layout, but I find it odd you choose to model so much bedrock.
    Is there a particular reason you choose to do so?

    Love this layout...what did you use for that nice ground cover?

    • @arcadialogger
      @arcadialogger  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, glad you like the layout. For the ground cover I used a combination of dirt from the yard and ground foam from Woodland Scenics. The rock formations are carved in moulding plaster.

    What kits use lid loaders

    • @arcadialogger
      @arcadialogger  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean by "lid" loaders. The log "A" frame loaders at McKenny's landing are scratch built with SS Ltd. boilers and drums but the small Dolbeer donkey is a Tomar kit. The loader at Cat Landing is a KMP Donkey kit but fitted with a diesel engine and drums I fabricated from parts in my junk box. All of the rigging and spar trees are scratch built with Rio Grand Models castings and Spider Wire fishing line as the cabling.
