Throughout this last year we have been talking to our supporters and, as a foundation team, have worked to develop our plan.
Using Our Voice to Strengthen Others
Captain Sir Tom was given the chance to share his story because so many of you chose to listen. However, many in our community who reach his age feel unheard and unseen.
Together, we will support, celebrate, and empower this generation - increasing opportunities for their voices to be heard and their skills and knowledge to be shared.
You can be part of this revolution
As our ageing population grows, everyone will lose out if we don’t allow this older generation to play their role in our communities.
The Captain Tom Foundation has partnered with Dame Esther Rantzen - champion of the unheard and founder of The Silver Line; together we will bring change - with your help.
The Captain Tom Day
In 2022, we are excited to announce our first Captain Tom Day - a day for us to celebrate our older generation and raise funds for organisations who support them.
This will be a day devoted to those who have given us so much, a day to inspire and empower people who have often felt dismissed.
This will be a day to remind us all of the positive impact gained by working together across generations, promoting a sense of pride and purpose to many who have felt they had been left behind.
You will be encouraged to fundraise, share stories and events, and to recognise projects and organisations who are supporting our ageing population. We will also be offering an award for innovation as part of the event.
As Captain Sir Tom himself said:
“Life is to be lived and I’ve always believed that age is no barrier to living it.”
