So, she felt like she was wasting her time. She was teaching him how to do his job. The host is acting like she's not even in the room, treating her like a child. Horrible. I don't know if this is a race thing or what, but it's horribly rude regardless. I feel uncomfortable watching it. The 80s were a different time though, and we didn't have all the nuances about things we have now.

What a shitty way of dealing with the situation - being more disrespectful and condescending to an already disgruntled guest. Main job of a host is to be likeable and make the guest comfortable, and he did the opposite of both.

I think this guy is a terrible interview and the siting arrangement is dreadful,surely a guest should face all his guests at the same time!There’s also another interview with him and David Bowie where he is truly so unprofessional and as condescending to Bowie as he were toward Miss Jones.

latonya bailey going by the way some of these middle class men talked to white working class people or anyone they deemed “below” them back in the day, I don’t know if it was pure racism or some other form of bigotry.....may need to see his other interviews with non white middle class men to see how he was. Maybe he just did not like those types of flamboyant personalities that his producers hired, especially when they may seem under the influence (although she said she was jet lagged and tired)......who knows these days, racism ran deep in many factors as we now can see......
That guy from London, I think sometimes when us Americans see British racism it's just weird. Brits come off very non offensive. But you know, we Just have to do better as a people. Call injustices out when you see them.

Yeah...this interview was a disaster waiting to happen. From the way the chairs/guests were set up, Hardy's pompous demeanour and Grace being Grace (she explained her off mood on this show in her book). I'm not sure if any of the participants are particularly to blame. He clearly sensed something was off and didnt know how to handle her.
Bit of a culture clash here. Everyone else was still stuck in the 70s and Grace was in the 80s. I don't think anyone intended to be rude.

The only good bit was when grace started singing and they cut her off. Rest was a little too much like an Alan partridge interview.

I can’t believe Russell was so disrespectful to a megastar. Her response to him was because he was so dismissive of her. He criticised her outfit and then she showed him at the end what overstated is when she revealed her outfit under the leather jacket!!

He's being disrespecful to her in a subtle but consistent way. He underestimates her but chooses to kiss the ass of everyone there, he's trying to poke fun at her with little passive agressive jokes
He is very rude indeed. Grace is only on the show for a couple of minutes before he gives up and brings the next guest out. Accuses her of smelling. Turns his back on her. Constantly talks about her as she/her rather than directly. I'm sure your mother and grandmothers will have taught you that 'she' is the cat's mother.
