This is EXACTLY why I love YT so much. I get to see so many videos here I wasn't able to see when I was young because I lived in a different country or continent. This video of Grace is a gem. I bet a $1000 that everyone in Chile was talking about this particular show the day after. What an amazing and charismatic performer Grace truly is. She came to do two songs but after a while she won over the audience who couldn't get enough of her and from then on it was "Grace Being Grace"!!!!!!

She has always done more European/International shows. She was doing "rap type" songs before any of the others did, and added a bit of Hip Hop Disco to it. She has her own style. ESTA ERA UNA TV ESPECTACULAR .EN ESOS TIEMPO COMO SE LE EXTRAÑA .GENTES TAN EDUCADA un presentador tan elegante tan sabio y intiligente para llevar las situaciones GRACE JONES.MARAVILLOSA ADELANTADÍCÍMA EN EL TIEMPO.quedaron todos perplejos con su presentacón .los cuicos tiezos.menos mal que estaba enfermita.
Tremenda mujer, tremenda artista, una personalidad irreverente y a la vez sólida que llegó al Chile más pobre culturalmente y al más sórdido políticamente hablando, prueba de ello es que en 1980 fue totalmente incomprendida y como se muestra en el video, los asistentes al programa no la veían más que como una especie de bufón, extravagante y raro, que seguramente estaba loca como una cabra. De seguro la mitad de los asistentes eran promilitares o sapos de plano, pitucas sonrojadas, que los invitaron a una pausa en la represión de los años para ir a ver a esta extravaganza. Grace was totally of her time and was fantastic at the time, from '77 onwards. There is only one Grace Jones, an innovator, still going strong now even in her '70's. It's just that most of todays music sounds so dated and no one has ever come close to her as such a unique artist.
Nothing comes close to this. The epitome of a star turn. Powerful and tender. Totally of it's time - as if she had just flown in from the closing party at Studio 54 - it totally shines now. A crafted situation, but the audience is really in sync. That host hits the right note too, thoughtful, funny, real. And Grace feels it, her emotive poise is like rapture. The lip, the mic, it doesn't matter, the moves, the sweet sensation. We know some of the best is still yet to come.

De verdad los 80's fueron DE PUTA MADRE... no había delincuencia, mayor seguridad ciudadana, buena musica new wave, colores fluor, diarios y revistas de oposicion, cualquiera entraba o salia del pais cuando queria, etc. En resumen... This is a bit of an overstatement. Taking into consideration the small size of the audience, I think they showed Graced that she's very welcomed, especially at the encore.

Y me vuelvo a fascinar viéndola otra vez, excelente video, mil gracias al que lo publicó.

Grace was totally of her time and was fantastic at the time, from '77 onwards. There is only one Grace Jones, an innovator, still going strong now even in her '70's. It's just that most of todays music sounds so dated and no one has ever come close to her as such a unique artist.
Nothing comes close to this. The epitome of a star turn. Powerful and tender. Totally of it's time - as if she had just flown in from the closing party at Studio 54 - it totally shines now. A crafted situation, but the audience is really in sync. That host hits the right note too, thoughtful, funny, real. And Grace feels it, her emotive poise is like rapture. The lip, the mic, it doesn't matter, the moves, the sweet sensation. We know some of the best is still yet to come.

De verdad los 80's fueron DE PUTA MADRE... no había delincuencia, mayor seguridad ciudadana, buena musica new wave, colores fluor, diarios y revistas de oposicion, cualquiera entraba o salia del pais cuando queria, etc. En resumen... UN PARAISO!

This is a bit of an overstatement. Taking into consideration the small size of the audience, I think they showed Graced that she's very welcomed, especially at the encore.

Yo quedé fascinada con Grace Jones cuando la ví por TV esa vez, aunque yo aún estaba en el colegio la encontré increíble, elegante, moderna, tan adelantada en el tiempo, no imaginé jamás que se trataba de una artista del más alto nivel, qué privilegiados los que asistieron de público esa noche. Y me vuelvo a fascinar viéndola otra vez, excelente video, mil gracias al que lo publicó.

Yo también quedé maravillada, pero cuando viaje a los Estados Unidos, me di cuenta que no era ella la adelantada, sino nosotros los súper conservadores y que siempre nos hemos creído los dueños de la verdad, y con una gran petulancia de mirar a los demás países de Latinoamérica en menos y a todo lo que sea diferente, primero se burlan y con el tiempo lo aceptan.

Yo era muy chico pero aun recuerdo que todo el mundo hablaba de Grace Jones por esta presentacion en la Television Nacional y hasta el el dia de hoy es famosisima en Chile y muy querida por todos. Sacando la cuenta nos visito' el año 80, 91, 93 y 94, realmente afortunados. 11:25 Mi tema favorito por siempre.
