    Love this. I didn't know you could password a note! Thank you. Now Dec 2020 I have ditched my scanning apps and use notes to scan instead. It captures the edges much better than my scanning apps. Once scanned I can; keep it in the note, save it to a file, export it, save it as a PDF and I'm sure there's more. It's AWESOME!

      Undo exists. On older iOS versions, you could shake the phone to undo. Now you can swipe to the right with three fingers to undo (three-finger swipe to the left to redo). It's not word/paragraph level, but it's better than no undo.

    Besides syncing with other iOS devices, Notes for iOS syncs through iCloud with macOS Notes as well. Your notes will be in Notes on all your Apple devices no matter where you entered them. I prefer to enter notes on my Mac's keyboard, where I'm faster and more accurate.The bigger display helps when you have hundreds of long notes too. I think of Notes on my Mac as my "Notes Central."

    Great video Lucas,
    I have a question for you.
    The notes app fills my needs almost perfectly, and I have been using it daily for 2 years now.
    Just simple app that works, is user friendly, has hierarchies, works across all devices, and has search option that works well.
    However, the app has been very slow for the last 2 months,(super slow) and it seems likes it doesn't handle all the stuff I have there.
    What do you recommend Lucas ? What note taking app do you reccommend I should go for next ?
    Some app that has those features (or similar )like I mentioned here above.
    Thanks
    Ari

      @laa8388 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ari! How many notes do you have? (I have 3,000 and my Apple Notes is still very fast.) Is it slow on all of your devices or just one of your devices? Since Notes is very simple, the only way to reset it is to erase the slow device and restore from backup. I still use Notes, and haven't needed anything else. :) Good luck!

      Thank you for your speedy respond. It works! Thanks
      One stupid question, where can I see how many notes I have ? Would be interesting to know.
      Another thing, I have been binge watching your videos all this week,(great stuff ) ( It has helped a lot), and I have heard you say that you have tried lots of note taking apps, so you must have export/import your notes into other apps when you are trying them out, right?
      Like I said before, the apple notes app, fills my needs perfectly when it comes to basic note taking, tasks, scanning and etc.
      But I'm looking forward to try other notes app for other reasons ( work, journaling etc)
      So the question is, can I somehow export all my notes into other app (Evernote, notion, etc) or do I have to begin from scratch every time when I try new app.
      Best regards,
      Ari

Also, I trying to ween myself off of third-party apps and use Apple's apps as much as possible. I like to keep as much of my apps in-house as possible. Thanks for the tutorial.

      @laa8388 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Vidform! Thanks! This jacket is by Aspesi. Had it for years. Worth the investment. Ah, in order for thumbnails to appear, you have to SHARE from the TH-cam app and tap the Notes app to share directly from TH-cam to Notes. In other words, don't copy/paste the link. I also use in-house apps when possible. But Fantastical, for example, is a wonderful 3rd party app that makes it worth paying for. Best of luck!

    My wish list: 1) To be able to highlight text and drawn diagrams, and stylize to change color on iPad. e.g GoodNotes app 2) For daily work meetings, to be able to record audio which is synchronized with what you hand writing in order to just click anywhere to playback from that position. e.g Notability app 3) To be able to convert hand written text into digital. e.g Notability app 4) To be able to change the size of the erasing tool. 5) Document scan to be flexible (follow the shape of a bend of the paper) in order to straighten it e.g Docr pro app 6) To be able to select a drawn diagram and resize and also rotate it. E.g GoodNotes app

    I agree that the Notes app has come a long way. I use it as a scratch pad to quickly jot things down. However the organization within the app is still clunky and I don’t like it for taking long meeting notes or drafting. Bear is my favorite notes app for this type of use. Definitely look into it. Their development has been a bit slow but the UI is amazing. Also, Bear has a variety of themes (something Apple Notes doesn’t have) which makes it better for taking notes in different environments.

    I was going to ask about what to use in place of Evernote's web clipper, but I see that using the Share function is pretty close... it still won't let me save portions of a web page like clipper, but that's a small issue. A bigger issue (and the one keeping me in Evernote, at least for a little while longer) is that Evernote has a Windows version. Yes, it's clunky and a pain to use, but at least it's a freestanding app. I know I can use the iCloud version of Notes, but that's a bit of a pain. Still... Notes is very tempting.... ! Thanks for the good video. Keep 'em coming.

    • @laa8388
      @laa8388 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Geoff! We don't have a fundamentals video on Notes. However since you're coming from paper, I think it would be a good start, because other apps typically get more complicated from here. To bring forward incomplete tasks, I would just copy/paste them into a new note. For photography, you could create a "Folder" in Notes for all of your photography notes. For sorting, you can choose by Date Edited, Date Created, or alphabetically by Title. However you cannot manually sort notes. Good luck!

  • @jafferalhamad
    @jafferalhamad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have more than 1,700 notes and it works perfectly for me. What I think would make it even more useful is the following:
    1. Grouping notes in thumbnails, images, and colors: I find it a lot better to group notes in bigger icons or shapes that make it easier to navigate through the application. That's a feature that I saw in another application and I have been waiting to see it in Apple notes for a long time!
    2. Desktop Version: What I find really productive for me is the ability to switch between the mobile & desktop (through iCloud.com) and always review my notes and to-do lists. I think a desktop application would definitely be a better choice with better speed and user experience.
    3. Passwords: They are separately set, and they are not the same as the iCloud account pass, which made it difficult for me to set the password for each period of time and remember it! Thank god I have the fingerprint options, otherwise, I would have been in a huge problem!!
    4. Duplicates: On the day I decided to move all my notes to iCloud I have seen many improvements, but one great issue with many duplicate notes, especially with the old ones. So I hope Apple improves the transfer of notes.

    • @laa8388
      @laa8388 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jaffer! I agree with all of these. I know that Notes will likely stay very simple, and not have too many changes. That's the bittersweet truth about Apple's software. It's simple and fast, but they're not going to do many changes like other apps.

I was using Notes as my default app as it USED TO sync beautifully across all my devices no matter where the note was entered, but for some time, the syncing has stopped. Thanks Lucas, very interesting. And there i was trying to keep things simple! OK I will do the same ... i love Notability, but am more and more wanting to do things on the fly, and the syncing between phone, pad and laptop is hard to beat ... the one thing Notes cant do is when you’re in pencil mode and with highlighting of text this is one thing i do all the time in Notability ... truth be said, using the pencil in notes after notability is pretty second rate. But still I am planning to use Notes for go to things and as you say for larger docs stay with Notability .... fund and games!
