  • I glanced over this song cuz I thought this was a promotional song for SEOUL. Duh.... This might become one of my favorite of RM. I can't stop listening to it. Such peacefulness and loneliness.... all in one.

    This one belongs to mono, it is the album with most #1 in itunes (it was #1 in 123 countries). It is a successful mixtape, it was indeed already in spotify (and itunes), so I don't know where some comments have been listening... Gotta beware of some YT fans, I find they usually (knowingly or unknowingly) spread the most misinformation.
    His first mixtape cannot be released bc he used for almost all songs an already existing beat/song so he would have to clear all copyrights. But even if only on Soundcloud, it made top 50 of a US hip hop magazine.

    I love this one too! To me it is a very soothing way to express that love/hate duality that exists for a place. I think there is a duality in the music too, simultaneously melancholy & lonely, but also catchy & upbeat. It is a comfort to me somehow that all over the world, people of different countries, languages, etc. experience the same human feelings about the same things. It is a unifying feeling for me & helps me not to feel so lost in my own thoughts about things sometimes. 💜

    Ever since it came out Seoul has been my comfort song. It calms me down in stressful times. Namjoon's beautiful voice and beautiful thoughts have that effect on many ARMY's. We call his playlist (free album/mixtape) 'Mono' our free therapy because of that.
    The lyrics in the mv, are actually his own handwriting. Both Namjoon and Yoongi, still write their lyrics by hand on a yellow note pad.
    I find that lyrically he's one of the most deep and sincere songwriters, South-Korea has known (along with Yoongi and J-Hope). I highly recommend listening to August D-'s 'So far away ft. Suran' and J-hope's 'Arson and Blue Side'.

      Because the mixed tapes were funded by the members personally and released for free, I think there wasn’t much point in official promotions. And the members probably would have had to personally pay for the promotions too. The mixed tapes were basically gifts for the fans.

    The first time I heard this was his tiny desk concert. And I was impressed by his voice. Unfortunately he indulges in some self deprecation at times and sings horribly for a laugh. I had only heard his rapping and I have confess that if you had asked a few years ago I would have said it wasn't music, you know crap the c is silent. Then I started really listening to the rap line. Somewhere in all that he became my bias. I think that to live in a city for any length of time you love/hate it. This song has an energy that is calming. I don't find it lonely as much as searching for peace.

    • @komerican-og
      @komerican-og  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I really like that. Searching for peace. Such a difficult journey that we rarely reach. Oh... crap where c is silent..that is first time I heard that and it is so 😁 lol. What's funnier is that RM is your favorite now. If done right.... it is basically recited poetry. You gotta have content, well written and delivered right. Easier said than done. RM is one of them.

      @@loredell I just listened to a reaction to Mono by Tribe Loui. Nam Joon does have a good singing voice. He uses his voice to suit his music, it can be melodic, loud and hard, soft and calm, all to help carry his message. His word play is incredible.
      One of the good things about J Hope's collaboration with J Cole is that some African American reactors have been introduced to BTS. In his reaction Tribe Loui said one thing that just stuck me, that RM is like a party in a library.

    Muito lindo...amo essa música, e o RM gravou essa mixtape e não apareceu em nenhum MV ou videoclipe...e sabe que isso faz as views diminuírem muito pois as fãs gostam de ver seus ídolos não é? Mas RM pensa diferente e é por isso que gosto ainda mais das músicas dele...😊❤
