I recently read in one of MJ Cullliane's Tarot deck books (Crow, I think) that she shuffles and asks the decks to "tell her a story" in 3 cards, when you don't know what you want to ask. I love that!
78 total cards 22 major arcana 56 lessor/minor arcana (divided into 4 suits/each suit has 14 cards) 21-1 0 major arcana - strongest cards of deck - most impactful - bigger picture - long term direction/situations you may experience 56 lessor/minor arcana - everyday actions, situations, or decisions you may face Different types of readings: - question readings (specific) - general readings reversed card meanings: - weakened - delayed - complete opposite meaning of face up always be in calm and collected state Focusing one's intent and energy into the cards, changes the probability of getting certain cards. 1a. Calm your mind. Steady your breath. Clear the air. Set your intention 1b. Place receiving hand under deck, and transmuting hand on top 2. Shuffle until intuition deems necessary to stop 3. Split deck into 3 sections and allow intuition to decide which to place on top of each other. Do as many times as intuition deems necessary. 4. I shuffle the cards until one flips out and repeat this until the spread is complete. This way takes more time but works best for me. When I read for another person especially if I have little or no information about the situation my readings resonate more. The words come out like I'm reading a book out loud. The worst thing you can do when reading tarot/or getting a read from other is asking the same question over and over too often.
@ivanhoe969 let's say you have reading 5 times in a day. All of the readings asked same question. Different answers came every time. Which one will you follow? Which one is the right answer? If you flip the cards until you find the ones you like can you get a true guidance?
I’ve had a tarot deck for quite a while but never dove into it and recently I’ve been feeling a little lost in my direction of life and this was a super useful and informative video without being to overwhelming. As my first reading I’ve ever done for myself or another person I am absolutely shocked but my reading as I can’t help but feel like it has helped me out tremendously. The cards are very insightful and perhaps I’m just high hoping but this has been very beneficial. Thank you for this video!

I’m 6 month in using tarot and Lenormand. I started to work on my spirituality, look deeper inwards and heal old wounds, and manifest my life goal. I find it easy to read for myself cuz I’m very attuned to myself, but there are times when I’m just not getting the message -usually if I didn’t ask a clear question. I found the 3-Voices spread (by Kelly of Truth in Story) and when I combine the 3 systems (Lenormand/Tarot/Advice Oracle) it all just comes to me in a flash -most of the time. I’ve noticed that when I look back at pictures of spreads and the question from a few weeks or months ago I don’t necessarily get the message. When I read my journal entry, it makes sense for what I was going through that moment in my life. That’s what is so endearing about the cards and connecting with my energy and light of existance🙂 I have done a handful of simple readings for others as practice, but lack the confidence to believe in the accuracy. I find it very easy to read for myself. Maybe being an introvert and stuff. Tarot came up in a conversation with a colleague yesterday and she was very keen to have me read at a work party sometime in the future. Now that made me really nervous - reading for others. Oh what have I got myself in for...
That's great that reading tarot for yourself came so naturally! Reading for others is another hurtle to overcome, but take a deep breath and let your intuition guide you

A lot of people have that same issue. You know, it's one of the reasons I get readings from other people. It's not that I can't read for myself, I just think I have too much bias so a outside perspective helps. Something you can try is use a tarot deck that you're unfamiliar with, while you study the new deck reading for yourself becomes easier because it's not familiar territory.
Great tips! Especially when NOT to do your own readings. I stay away from my cards when I’m in a negative headspace until I get rid of the dark cloud haha

I was told by Char the TH-cam tarot reader to never read for myself because it does not work. I became discouraged and stopped reading but miss it because I enjoy it and it's fun. I also learn a lot about tarot, spirituality and myself.
Joe, NOOOOO, read for yourself ALL the time! You should be using the Tarot for personal guidance :) but again it's really everyone's personal opinions, I hope you get back into reading for yourself because you enjoy it so much.
That is very when you get stuck when reading for yourself. I also experienced that and in my own opinion, when we are reading for others, we don't know what is going on inside their minds while for use we are very confused by what the cards say and to what we are thinking which makes confusion. Consulting with a guidebook is really great just like what you've said. I thought I am the only one who sometimes gets stuck when reading for myself. Thanks!
I do get inside my own head and so i don't read my own cards for those times. I like to try to read too many cards as well! I love the pick a card readings here and so find myself trying to emulate o.0 which isn't ever a good idea for me without a spread lol! oh me! I notice for sure if I choose a simple spread I am getting a more clear answer. Also, if I have taken the time (which I almost always do!) to read the way the cards were intended to be used and use the spreads the deck provides i get clearer answers. I love learning from you! I have been learning to read tarot mainly for myself for the past three years. My favorite deck to use is the Necronomicon deck and I keep it on my alter under my wand.
Hi Ethony, I love reading for myself, but there are times I just can't interpret what the cards are saying or just having an off day. If I can't interpret the cards, I write them down than come back to it later. If still not getting it, I reshuffle and ask the question in another way. If its an off day, I just skip my reading for that day. I don't want to confuse my cards with my moody day.

Hi I am actually moving away from reversals. Tarot works prefectly well without them. Even Rachell pollack says in her last book that she has included the meaning of reversed cards cause thats how Edgard waite and who is she to contradict him. But she personally dies not use reversals most of the time
This video was posted so long ago. However I just now came across it as I was looking for something else. I have a serious problem reading for myself. Especially when it would concern some guy that I really liked. I would read on it and I didn’t like what it was saying so I would shuffle again and again to try to get the answer I wanted. Well guess what 😂 either way and no matter what I did to try avoiding it you can change the inevitable. It always came out the way the tarot said it would on the first try
I am better at reading for myself....I tend to freeze up when reading for others...I keep a cheat sheet nearby in case of that awkwardness. I froze up in school with tests or when called on so it seems to be the case with live readings. I know it is frowned upon in the community to rely on the books, but I also play the game of using what I do know and then compare for confirmation when accessing the book or cheat sheets.. Still new at it but journaling and resonating with a deck helps greatly in my learning process with both Tarot and Oracle decks.

A wise person once said "if we focus on our limitations we get to keep them!" You were a child when you experienced the event that led to your blocker. You have far greater life skills & coping mechanisms now than you did back when it was created. Over the years repetition of the message will have embedded it more deeply in your subconscious mind. Your subconscious is here to protect you, it originally developed this reaction to protect you from suffering the same embarrassment again. But if you encountered the original situation for the first time at your current age, the outcome would probably have been different, having the benefit of age & experience on your side now. It may be time to thank your subconscious mind for the protective mechanism it developed which served a purpose when you were younger & more vulnerable, but tell it to release that habit now as it no longer serves you well. Release it with love & create a new affirmation you can consciously tell yourself in its place. 🙂 Be patient if it takes a while to get out of the old habits, but it took a while to create them & the neural pathway is well embedded. As you keep using your new positive affirmation, the old less used pathway will diminish through lack of use over time. 😊 Good luck..
even tarot readers have biases and have their own personal problems.. being dependent on Tarot is truly not healthy... treat yourself well.. rest and relax...

Yes, I do read for myself, and find it very helpful most of the time. However, I have been bothered when a reading didn't 'work', because it didn't address the question I asked. (Yes, I write the question down beforehand, etc, and log the reading in my journal.) But hey ho - some time later, it turns out that the reading WAS dealing very accurately with something totally unrelated to my question! Disconcerting. How can I tell if a reading simply isn't working, or if it's dealing with an issue I'm not aware of yet?

Hi, I see a psychic every 6 months and I'm told the same thing every time quite soon in to the reading, "you have psychic abilities " which I haven't took it any further, however I certainly can relate to their comments. Can you please advise me on how I should start to look into into developing this if of course possible. I'd really appreciate it. Do you think you have psychic abilities? Or just strong intuition? Why would you want to develop? Are you prepared to have spirits interact with you? Needing to protect your energy etc? Opening yourself up has downsides also I’ve had to put a stop to developing my son I was teaching him. Because his immaturity and his personal energy was causing him to be attacked by malevolent spirits. It’s not for everyone Spirit told me everything he was up to and they insisted he stop.

Hello! Not a stupid question, honestly, if you read reversals or if you don't read reversals is all a matter of personal preference, so it is different for every single Tarot reader you will ask. I personally do not read reversals simply because the Tarot is already a lot of memorization (78 cards, with multiple meanings) and I personally think that the Tarot is dynamic enough and shows shadow aspects enough that I do not feel the need to read reversals, so I never have. If you want to read reversals than by all means go forth! What I've heard for some tips of reading reversals is learn the basic meaning of each card, and then when it comes up reversed that is just the OPPOSITE of the basic meaning of the card (if that makes sense). There is a whole wack of books and content out there on reading card reversals to (even the book that comes along with the Tarot deck might have reversal meanings in it).

As a beginner I'm just wondering why you dont read the reversals? Don't they mean you're lacking something from that card? Which would be beneficial if you're doing a self reading... not trying to critique just curious
If not cutting the deck after you shuffle feels right to you then use that method! There are so many different ways to practice Witchcraft and Tarot, so just choose the method that feels the best and that you are most drawn to.

Every time I try to read for myself the cards show what I'm feeling right then. Regardless as to what I ask, or meditate or whatever. They still do Unfortunately IDK anyone to ask for a reading. Everybody wants money. Well if you want money, how do I know you're not going to just tell me what I want to hear so I will ask again??
Try going through each card and relate the imagery back to you in your life at some point. It's also about finding the right deck where the imagery comes easier to you and your intuition.
I just got mine delivered it’s this anime type deck. Om confused instructions say aside from what the cards represent there are revered readings of cards? Is it if I got like king of pentacles then queen of pentacles then read them reversed? Cause first hand I got Wands seven, then six then five so
I find it hard to put 2 or more cards together as a reading for myself. Like a story. I just find it confusing even though I know what the cards mean...why can’t I do that?

@@Ethony absolutely. I think I was referring specifically to the temptation when starting out to ask a question, pull the cards, and if they don't meet your expectation to then redraw. As a beginner, it can make things more and more confusing each time you redraw.

Hi Siddhi, this is very common!You think you love a deck and then you bring it home and begin to work with it and you realize it's not your fav or as great as you thought it would be. I would recommend looking at tarot decks with more rich with imagery, based on the classic Rider Waite Smith System. @@radar4536 I totally understand, everyone has their own way of shuffling and interacting with the cards that feels the best. I know people that shuffle until cards fly out of the deck and they choose those for their reading, some pull from the bottom, some pull from the top, some cut, etc
Yes i used to do that. Now when a card falls out i put it back and if it comes up in de reading i pay attention. Like double check. Learned that from witch 😊 Cards also fall put just random by shuffling. As you say it is what feels good. Soms just pull cards out the pile intuitively.

I personally do not read reversals in my readings, but I do write reversals in all of my Tarot books for those who like to read with them. It's a personal choice, for me, there are already 78 different cards with multiple meanings and facets for each, that is more than enough to remember in my opinion. If you are an experienced witch and want to diversify your readings more you can learn to read the cards then once you already have the base meanings of the cards. 🐝🐝 hope this helped

I find it WAY easier to read for other people, which is why it’s frustrating as a beginner to not really have many people I can read for.

I was told by Char the TH-cam tarot reader to never read for myself because it does not work. I became discouraged and stopped reading but miss it because I enjoy it and it's fun. I also learn a lot about tarot, spirituality and myself.
Joe, NOOOOO, read for yourself ALL the time! You should be using the Tarot for personal guidance :) but again it's really everyone's personal opinions, I hope you get back into reading for yourself because you enjoy it so much.

That is very when you get stuck when reading for yourself. I also experienced that and in my own opinion, when we are reading for others, we don't know what is going on inside their minds while for use we are very confused by what the cards say and to what we are thinking which makes confusion. Consulting with a guidebook is really great just like what you've said. I thought I am the only one who sometimes gets stuck when reading for myself. Thanks!

I do get inside my own head and so i don't read my own cards for those times. I like to try to read too many cards as well! I love the pick a card readings here and so find myself trying to emulate o.0 which isn't ever a good idea for me without a spread lol! oh me! I notice for sure if I choose a simple spread I am getting a more clear answer. Also, if I have taken the time (which I almost always do!) to read the way the cards were intended to be used and use the spreads the deck provides i get clearer answers. I love learning from you! Hi Ethony, I love reading for myself, but there are times I just can't interpret what the cards are saying or just having an off day. If I can't interpret the cards, I write them down than come back to it later. If still not getting it, I reshuffle and ask the question in another way. If its an off day, I just skip my reading for that day. I don't want to confuse my cards with my moody day.

Wow I don’t do reversals either! My deck of choice is the Marseilles, I do however also have a couple RWS decks and I still read them the same way. I would love to read for you that would be an honor to do 🙏🙏
In the beginning, and until you reallyyy know the tarot, I wouldn't recommend reading reversals! It's already so much to learn!

Even Rachell pollack says in her last book that she has included the meaning of reversed cards cause thats how Edgard waite and who is she to contradict him. But she personally dies not use reversals most of the time

This video was posted so long ago. However I just now came across it as I was looking for something else. I have a serious problem reading for myself. Especially when it would concern some guy that I really liked. I would read on it and I didn’t like what it was saying so I would shuffle again and again to try to get the answer I wanted. Well guess what 😂 either way and no matter what I did to try avoiding it you can change the inevitable. It always came out the way the tarot said it would on the first try
I am better at reading for myself....I tend to freeze up when reading for others...I keep a cheat sheet nearby in case of that awkwardness. I froze up in school with tests or when called on so it seems to be the case with live readings. I know it is frowned upon in the community to rely on the books, but I also play the game of using what I do know and then compare for confirmation when accessing the book or cheat sheets.. Still new at it but journaling and resonating with a deck helps greatly in my learning process with both Tarot and Oracle decks.
In that case chris it is all about confidence and feeling comfortable! Practice makes perfect :) but that is completely understandable, thanks so much for sharing your story and experiences! 🐝

You were a child when you experienced the event that led to your blocker. You have far greater life skills & coping mechanisms now than you did back when it was created. Over the years repetition of the message will have embedded it more deeply in your subconscious mind.
Your subconscious is here to protect you, it originally developed this reaction to protect you from suffering the same embarrassment again. But if you encountered the original situation for the first time at your current age, the outcome would probably have been different, having the benefit of age & experience on your side now.
It may be time to thank your subconscious mind for the protective mechanism it developed which served a purpose when you were younger & more vulnerable, but tell it to release that habit now as it no longer serves you well. Release it with love & create a new affirmation you can consciously tell yourself in its place. 🙂
Be patient if it takes a while to get out of the old habits, but it took a while to create them & the neural pathway is well embedded.
As you keep using your new positive affirmation, the old less used pathway will diminish through lack of use over time. 😊 Good luck..

Yes, I do read for myself, and find it very helpful most of the time. However, I have been bothered when a reading didn't 'work', because it didn't address the question I asked. (Yes, I write the question down beforehand, etc, and log the reading in my journal.) But hey ho - some time later, it turns out that the reading WAS dealing very accurately with something totally unrelated to my question! Disconcerting. How can I tell if a reading simply isn't working, or if it's dealing with an issue I'm not aware of yet?

Hi, I see a psychic every 6 months and I'm told the same thing every time quite soon in to the reading, "you have psychic abilities " which I haven't took it any further, however I certainly can relate to their comments. Can you please advise me on how I should start to look into into developing this if of course possible. I'd really appreciate it. I’ve had to put a stop to developing my son I was teaching him. Because his immaturity and his personal energy was causing him to be attacked by malevolent spirits.

Hello! Not a stupid question, honestly, if you read reversals or if you don't read reversals is all a matter of personal preference, so it is different for every single Tarot reader you will ask. I personally do not read reversals simply because the Tarot is already a lot of memorization (78 cards, with multiple meanings) and I personally think that the Tarot is dynamic enough and shows shadow aspects enough that I do not feel the need to read reversals, so I never have. If you want to read reversals than by all means go forth! What I've heard for some tips of reading reversals is learn the basic meaning of each card, and then when it comes up reversed that is just the OPPOSITE of the basic meaning of the card (if that makes sense). There is a whole wack of books and content out there on reading card reversals to (even the book that comes along with the Tarot deck might have reversal meanings in it).

I don’t use that method. You can do that but if you feel like you need a reading then use the cards!

If not cutting the deck after you shuffle feels right to you then use that method! There are so many different ways to practice Witchcraft and Tarot, so just choose the method that feels the best and that you are most drawn to.

Try going through each card and relate the imagery back to you in your life at some point. It's also about finding the right deck where the imagery comes easier to you and your intuition.
When you drew and set the cards you placed second last then third in between. Is that on purpose or depends on the cards drawn?

@@Ethony absolutely. I think I was referring specifically to the temptation when starting out to ask a question, pull the cards, and if they don't meet your expectation to then redraw. As a beginner, it can make things more and more confusing each time you redraw.

Hi Siddhi, this is very common!You think you love a deck and then you bring it home and begin to work with it and you realize it's not your fav or as great as you thought it would be. I would recommend looking at tarot decks with more rich with imagery, based on the classic Rider Waite Smith System. No, do what feels best for you, for me I think cutting a deck is a great way to put the final push of your energy into the cards.

@@radar4536 I totally understand, everyone has their own way of shuffling and interacting with the cards that feels the best. I know people that shuffle until cards fly out of the deck and they choose those for their reading, some pull from the bottom, some pull from the top, some cut, etc
Yes i used to do that. Now when a card falls out i put it back and if it comes up in de reading i pay attention. Like double check. Learned that from witch 😊 Cards also fall put just random by shuffling. As you say it is what feels good. Soms just pull cards out the pile intuitively.

I personally do not read reversals in my readings, but I do write reversals in all of my Tarot books for those who like to read with them. It's a personal choice, for me, there are already 78 different cards with multiple meanings and facets for each, that is more than enough to remember in my opinion. If you are an experienced witch and want to diversify your readings more you can learn to read the cards then once you already have the base meanings of the cards. 🐝🐝 hope this helped
