    I absolutely love this version of the song, but the text is partially wrong (and not only because it follows a different version, which is also transliterated and translated wrongly btw). The correct text and translation would be:
    Oy Lazare, Lazare! // Oh, Lazarus, Lazarus!
    Tuka ni sa kazali. // We've been told
    Oy Lazare, Lazare! // Oh, Lazarus, Lazarus!
    Tuka ni sa kazali. // We've been told
    Pervo tuka doydohme, // We've come here first
    Moma, momche naydohme. // We've found a girl and a boy
    Ya momata godete, // Betroth the girl
    Ya momcheto zhenete. // Wed the boy
    Oy Lazare, Lazare! // Oh, Lazarus, Lazarus!
    Tuka ni sa kazali. // We've been told
    Kolko liste po gora, // As many leaves in the forest
    Tolko zdrave na taz kyshta. // That much health in this home
    Pervo tuka doydohme, // We've come here first
    Moma momche naydohme. // We've found a girl and a boy
    Ya momata godete, // Betroth the girl
    Ya momcheto zhenete. // Wed the boy
    Last two verses then repeat three more times.
    This version differs from the one that comes as part of the exclusive tracks collection. There it is called "...Steel for Humans" and includes a different part of the text.
    BTW there are many Bulgarian folk songs with similar meaning, and Serbian too. This one actually comes from the region where my father is from. Also, the Bulgarian folk tradition forbids those songs from being played on any other day than Lazareva Subota (Lazarus' Saturday), because hail and other bad things would happen otherwise. Maybe that's why the weather in the game gets pretty shitty sometimes and monsters lurk around all the time ;)

    A wedding song for wishing young couples good luck in their news lives in hopes that they create a healthy and happy homestead? And it only plays in Crookback Bog? Sounds like a twisted jab at Anna and the Bloody Baron to me.

    Um... everyone bitching about how the lyrics don't suit the combat music have a point as far as the dissonance between the effect and actual meaning goes, but it's actually a prophecy about Ciri's birth from the original books (imo).
    Geralt is the reason Ciri's parents marry and they promise him their child for his help (i.e. Ciri). I guess when the song says that everyone should rejoice for the betrothal (even though no one but the bride and groom and Geralt are happy about this in the story), is because it's prophetic and alludes to Ciri's role as the savior. Had the betrothal not taken place, she wouldn't have been born, so...
    Edit: I guess the reason they used these lyrics was because Ciri's father was considered a "monster" because he was some sort of were-creature, event though he was in truth a kind hearted man, not a monster. Killing monsters, in Geralt's own words, is not a phrase he restricts to actual monsters, but extends to vile humans as well. The lyrics pay tribute to Geralt's ability to recognize true monstrosity- the kind that he deals with in steel. "Steel for humans".

  • @petrovich_sokolov
    @petrovich_sokolov 8 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Your Bulgarian lyrics are wrong.
    2nd line kazale (in the past Bulgarian plurals were written with E) - Kazale
    3rd and 4th line wrong tense - DoydoHme and NaydoHme is how you make past tense (how ever you did translate it correctly with the past tense)
    9th line - it's Gorah with a hard H. It's a bulgarian case ending/padezh that went obsolete a long time ago.
    + Bulgarian is meant to be written in Cyrillic, since the latin/roman alphabet is so poor of sounds you can't really put the correct letter since there is no sound like this in the roman/latin alphabet.

    @wildhunt6350 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So proud to be from Bulgaria and that a song from the bulgarian folk music is part of this legendary game which will be remembered forever !
    [TRANSLATION + EXPLANATION]
    Lazarus day is celebrated 8 days before Easter and is the biggest "spring/maiden" holiday. On it the rites and rituals of Lazaruvane are observed. There are various rites in the seven folk regions, but generally they all involve Lazarki - groups of young, unmaried girls. They visit the river, weave wreaths of flowers and go around the village houses and singing songs to the people of the home who greet them with bread and salt, honey and fruits and eggs for the upcomming Easter. It is also the time when boys are supposed to ask for a girl's hand.
    The lyrics of the song are spoken from the point of view of the Elder woman leading the lazarki.
    Raduvay se, raduvay. (4x)
    [T](Be) joyful, joyful (x4)*
    Oy Lazare, Lazare.
    Tuka ni sa kazali -
    [T] Hey, Lazarus, Lazarus
    [T] They've told us (that) here
    Kolko liste po gorach,
    tolko zdrave na taz kyshcha.
    [T] As many leaves in the forest
    [T] So many health to this house
    Tervo tuka doydome.
    Moma momche naydеme*.
    [T] Here we have come
    [T] Girl (and) boy find (to bring together) (To find the girl a boy)
    Ya* momata godete.
    Ya* momcheto zhenete.
    [T] (Hey, get) The girl engaged
    [T] (Hey, get) The boy married.
    NB. - Moma translates most accurately as maiden, however many translations preffer "(young) girl" or "woman", because the Balkan word lacks the Western European connotation of chivalry.
    - Words marked with * sound olden and are not oft used in modern language.
    - In gendered languages like Bulgarian there are two different words for marrige. Women "se omujvat" to a man and men "se ojenvat" to a woman.
    - "Banana tiger" means banana tiger. Neither tigers nor bananas are found on the Balkan peninsula. :) ... Actualy the singer is saying something like "parara dam, parara dam dam".

    • @stevenseufert2520
      @stevenseufert2520 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Banana tiger isn't actually part of the song. It was a misunderstanding from someone of what was being sung in the chorus and that misunderstanding spread and became a joke.

    Why does Lazare translate into god has helped? It's a name.

    • @lazarm89
      @lazarm89 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question,and actually the meaning of the name Lazar, my name, is that :D Lazar was the first man ressurected by Christ (according to Bible) , so the meaning of the name is ''God has helped''.

    Translate is bad... And this is not a song about Lazar, resurrected by Jesus... It's about a pagan celebration of marriage... In thracian and then bulgarian old customs, girls at 15-16 years old get dressed in traditional national costumes and weave flower wreaths, preparing themself to find to future husband...
