On my 60+ acre farm, there are only a couple Pine Trees. There are a few Cedar Trees. Several Persimmon Trees. A butt load of different Nut Trees.

I have a huge supply of big Fatwood.. 8-10 ft logs.. I just put tree down last month. Been dead for several years, core is solid from ground to about 45 ft.. bottom is big as a basketball and top stops about wrist size.. for sale all you gurus needing big amounts of workable straight grain prime.. fattest of fat.. several lifetimes worth.. North East Texas bring a truck and trailer..

No scruffs... only bush kitty.... And fatwood is the end all natural Firestarter, medicine, etc... if you can't light fatwood... stay inside..
fat wood is my go to fire starter. i carry a couple of sticks of it. i do have a few mini infernos, but the fat wood burns a lot longer and a lot hotter. and it's waterproof ,easy to process, , easy to ignite and smells great. but you don't want to cook with it.
