Safes made of food cans or the like wouldn't be a good thing when food is scarce and people will shank you for a can of fake beets...lol Make one out of a book, I guarantee a thief won't be attacking you for your books...
@@Texasfishingfamily I used my tampon boxes for this purpose, but when food is the reason for the thievery making a safe even of beets won't help. A bible would be a good safe against food thieves and liberals.
I would not pre-make a cotton ball/petroleum jelly fire starter. Both are useful stand-alone items that you can combine as needed. Also, why would you risk slicing open a finger on a cola can fishing kit when metamucil jars are already perfect for the job?
@@HOWLINGWOLF-ig5zs That makes no sense. You are carrying the same either way. But I guess you could wipe your stuck zippers or wind chapped lips with the soaked cotton balls. Don't guess you could have dry cotton balls that way for other uses though.
Still recommend boiling the water after. The filter would get most of the stuff from it but some chemicals and micro organisms would like get thru but boiling would break down the chemicals and kill micro organisms
I would suggest you clean your sand, rocks and pebbles now, well ahead of when you need them. Then put all needed materials away for in case you ever do need to use them. You don't know what could be in that sand or rocks/pebbles.
I don't believe the 2 quart bottle water filter has enough media to be of much value. I would have to be in really, really dire straits to use it as is. Though it may be useful to prefilter water, before I put it through a good filter system. As far as having fishing gear in a tin, which I've seen before, IF shtf, I will NOT be using a rod/worm/bobber in HOPES of catching something. I will be using nets, gill nets, anything that gives me the maximum chance of catching food. I do not believe a fish/game warden will be walking the trails looking for guys to have a license and legal fishing gear. IMO
Filter then boil It's sad we drank from creeks all the time as kids hell early adulthood. I was always told if it was fast running wayer it was safe to drink(as a kid). Now for almost 20 years I haven't drank out of a tap, I fricken boil my water to wash my dishes. Bottle water you have to look at ingredients to know if it's actually water or purified sewer water
@@PreppingPro You failed to say NOT to use store bought , regular BBQ charcoal, which is loaded with chemicals. (And making your own charcoal is arduous, trust me!)
The charger would have to be AT LEAST 4v output to charge the rechargeable battery and the amps on a panel that small would barely keep the battery from discharging. The panel would have to be pretty big to output enough energy. Also the water filter should also inform people to boil the water clean water doesn't mean sterile water.

Ive done this for years to hide my poker money from my wife. lol

I have a friend that uses dryer lint and bacon grease for a fire starter, both are free !
Pre make the cotton ball and jelly..less u have to carry in ur pack..I use them all the time .

Thank you. It is great! I did some with what I have and some even from things usually into recycle bins or garbage can. 🙂
Awesome!
is shtf marauders AREN'T going to raid your pantry? i think that will probably be one of the first things they go for

Agreed
depends on the chemicals
I do believe the activated charcoal pulls out a lot of the chemicals but yes, boil or use purify tabs after filtering.
imagine link linking the guides for any of this stuff...
Sure! Are you asking for that?
Thank you!
You have to watch what type of cement you use for the rocket stove or it could break from the extreme heat.

Good advice
I may use these, thank you.
Can of something gross tasting might be a better option.

Do you have videos for the altoid tin solar phone charger and the rocket stove. Also, did you realise plastic bags can make good firestarters.
There are plenty of videos on TH-cam on how to make a rocket stove so I'm sure you find something on making the charger as well.
The homemade egg carton firestarters didn't work for me. You need to have dry kindling first
Good tip
Good luck.
the water filtration is not safe
It’s not the best option for sure! Here’s a breakdown: th-cam.com/video/e7GtbjJJTS4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=UDcNpbJXPr8zxJFW

That charger wont do anything...
What would you build instead?

Thanks for the comment. Why?

FYI THOSE CINDER BLOCKS CAN EXPLODE WHEN THEY GET TOO HOT.. WOULDN'T RECOMMENDED THAT AT ALL WHEN U CAN MAKE A ROCKET STOVE FROM WOOD .
